3 Add Life Totals
# Jan 25 2014 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
93 druid. The 3 adds for this fight had insane life totals. We are talking like 40 times the life of current level 95 mobs. In the 14 min timer. Between me an my t5 tank merc using Surge of Bonebriars Rk. II and Vinespur rank II. I got 1 add to 30% and the other 2 were still at 80% before the timer ran out. In between 50k crit nukes were barely dropping 1 add 1%. Sometimes it didnt even drop 1%. This is either glitched or this fight back in POP must have been hard as hell.

95 Ranger and a tank on Aggressive made this simple enough. Swam off to one side, hit autofire, and cycled target through all the trash. Focused on the minis when they popped, and kept cycling through each wave. Merc took care of the trash quickly, and Avatar went down in a hail of headshots in seconds. No heals required.

annoying grey con adds
# Jun 21 2012 at 10:07 AM Rating: Decent
Short and sweet run down i swam to the back of the zone and the avatar was up, smacked the guardian which started the event. The lil mini names werent bad but dont stay at the same elevation (i hate fighting in water) so i kept having to look for the named while i was fighting it. The 25 adds they spawn are all around the room which was a pain to target or try to pull them together for an AE. once the last mini named died the avatar was targetable i put my bard on him and was working to kill all the mobs that spawn at that point it was the 3 mini named again and a bunch of grey cons. bard killed avatar before i even could target/kill the bunches of mobs.

If i was going to do it again i would sick my bard on any named and place my ranger on edge of room to bow down the adds. they only took 1-3 arrows to die each. When avatar is targetable just ignore everything else and blow him up the adds despawn on his death.
2 Clerics Make an attempt
# May 19 2012 at 7:57 AM Rating: Decent
2 level 95 Clerics with 2 wizzy mercs (set on burn, not ae), cleared the 75 adds, the 3 greenies, and got Coirnav to 12% before timer expired. We'll try again with a level 80 druid alt and the druid's wizzy merc in 7 days. Coirnav and the greenies resisted nukes (hit, but rarely for full) and chromatic nukes.

Rogue mercs may be a better choice in the mix

Just my 2cp from the first attempt

HA! I just led an Raid on Coirnav, the Avatar of Water. 18 people could not burn all 75 adds, 3 named and, Corniav in under 14 minutes. Of the 18 people Present, 3 were level 85 wizards, 3 were level 85 Rangers, 1 was an 85 Bard, 1 was an 85 Necro with 1250 AA's. There's just not enough time to do it. We still had Vamuil of Water up when we rushed Coirnav. After Coirnav dropped, he respawned with the 3 named and multiple adds.

Strat we used:

1. Assemble Raid at Tunnel Entrance or, anywhere you are going to pull the adds to. Assign Puller for the adds (Monk, Bard, Ranger work pretty good) Assign MT's (Main Tank) and MH's (Main Healer for tank).

2. Buff Raid

3. Pull "Gaurdian of Coirnav" to Raid, burn down ASAP. This will start the event. 3 waves of 25 level 60 mobs will spawn and 1 named.

>>> 14 minute Timer Begins <<<

4. Here's where it get's tricky. Have MT and his/her group beat down "Pwelon of Vapor" while, adds are killed. Best Bet is use your AOE'rs (Area of Effect). This is where the Wizards come in handy. 2 Blasts of AoE from 85 Wizzy's will kill the group of adds pulled to the raid force. May take as many as 4 pulls. When adds are dead and waiting for next pull, Raid should help with Named. Wizzy's Conserve mana for the incoming adds.

5. 2nd Wave of 25 and "Nrinda of Ice" spawns. Same strategy as Step 4.

6. 3rd Wave of 25 and "Vamuil of Water" spawns. Same strategy as step 4.

7. Once ALL adds are Dead, Coirnav is Targetable. By now, Pwelon of Vapor is a corpse and, Nrinda of Ice is close to death. DO NOT ENGAGE COIRNAV. Kill what is left of the named, this makes Coirnav have alot less HP to take down when you bum rush him. The 3 named spawn again but, will go down easier than before. Kill them, save Coirnav for LAST.

*Note: We did not take down Vamuil of Water which, may have bugged the event (According to other sources)

8. Assuming you haven't been booted to Plane of Knowledge by this point, RUSH Coirnav and Burn him down.

9. If all goes well, Essence of Water should spawn above Coirnav's Corpse. DO NOT HAIL. Essence of Water will stay up for a few minutes. Rez the Dead, this gives them the chance to get their flag and roll on loots.

10. When all raid members are present, HAIL ESSENCE OF WATER. This will give you your flag and, Sphere of Coalesced Water

Congradulations, you now have X/4 of your Plane of Time Key. You've also just taken down an Avatar.

This Strategy works, used it and was flagged 09 January 2011.

did him tonight 85 ranger with cleric merc, fun fight. went in not thinking i'd even get Coirnav target-able but it wasn't as bad as i thought... i didn't time the fight but i was probably down to my last couple minutes when the big fish died. it got a little hectic with the 75~ adds and 3 named. did not know they were rootable else i would have parked the named and offed the adds first. dropped two haste cords and essences of water. Coirnav himself is pretty gimp on HP, he went down much faster than the other PoP elemental avatars.

FRAP'd it for the haters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkOAhhJDZx4

Quote:

Pull and Kill Guardian of Coirnav in front of the AE Camp.

14 Minute timer has now begun. No more, no less. If not done at 14 minutes you are banished from the Zone.

Wave 1: Pwelon of Vapor + 25 triloun vaporfiends's spawn inside the Coirnav temple thing.

Pwelon of Vapor is single pulled out of the area and brought to the "Root Spot". The named will corpse camp, we can train them to this area and wipe aggro on them thru the use of FD or Fading Memories.

triloun vaporfiends are brought to camp in batches of 5 - 8 and AE'd hard. AE Stun will not work, however AE Mez (Word of Morrel) will work. ENC's will chain cast WoM while all AE'able classes pound these down. Melee classes will F8 to grab a mob and tear it down. Shaman should AE Slow, as we expect them dead faster then it would take to target and slow them all. Coming into camp in small batches a shaman could also AE slow on incoming.

At this point we need to use at least 5 pullers getting multi adds is hard as they don't have a large assist range.

Wave 2: Same as Wave 1, Different named creatures.

Wave 3: Same as Wave 1, Different named creatures.

The Named:
The Three named mobs that spawned with each wave are now very weak. Killing all of the little underlings makes them vulnerable. Pull and root them in front of camp and proceed to give them the smack down. They die fairly quickly ( 30 seconds ).

These named pop back around Coirnav we need to pull them out and root 1 we should be able to kill 2 at once after that.

Final Fight:

Coirnav is now able to be targeted. 25 more level 65 adds spawn to "protect" him.

Warriors go into the Coirnav pit and AE Taunt all of the small fish and hit defensive / evasive and get them off of the majority of the people. Pure melee go in and all-out disc, casters (including clerics) go all out offensive on Coirnav.

With proper DPS Coirnav will drop in about 10 - 15 seconds. This fight is all about huge dps and applying it recklessly. Because of the time limit there is no holding back.

We need tanks on ether side and front and back if possible of Coirnav doing an ae taunt; the tanks should get levitate cast on them while we are killing the last 3 named before Corinav.

Once Coirnav is killed all adds will despawn.

What's the respawn on Coirnav and his trigger?

I remember hearing something about it being 12 hours on a fail if and only if you don't make Coirnav targettable. If he becomes targettable respawn is 3 days.

That sound right?

I think its 4 hours if you dont spawn coirnav 3 days if you do. Trigger is called Guardian of Coirnav

Event
# Dec 18 2003 at 5:48 PM Rating: Excellent
You start this event by pulling the Guardian of Coirnav in the arch way just before you reach coirnav. When he dies 1 wave of 70 mobs and 1 named spawns. Kill the 70 mobs with AE and control the named. 3 waves of this then you kill the named. If you kill the named during AE they respawn back where they originally spawned. After you finish the waves and kill the named Coirnav is targetable to kill. 15 minutes is all you have to do this, and unless you have the right classes it is nearly impossible.

Fun fun script with a very tight time limit.

Zillions of mobs thrown at you by each of the three gods in turn (waves). Dead them very quickly using mass killing tactics - hint hint.

The lobster itself is relatively easy - it is the time constraint which makes the encounter non-trivial.

The Triumvirate of Water

"The Fathom Lord or, as he is known in the divine tongue of Influence and Nature, Tarew Marr, is the first member of the Triumvirate of Water. He is the sole lord and commander of the plane's most abundant form of the element. The people of Norrath know little of him, and his relationship to Mithaniel and Erollisi Marr is a source of constant debate amongst their followers. He is believed to have given physical form and intelligence to the influences of Love and Valor in the personages of Erollisi and Mithaniel Marr, respectively, and given them power over their namesake planes."

"E'ci, known as the Wintry Guardian upon mortal tongues, is the second member of the Triumvirate of Water. The goddess embodies the material form and essence of ice, the solid matter of the plane she helps govern. This entity is rumored to hold great control, perhaps nearly to the point of tyranny if one can believe the fantastical tales of the gods of Influence and Nature, over her portion of the realm. The tales of her devotion to the balance of her realm against the other elemental powers have fostered a lingering, fearful respect for the goddess within the hearts of the lesser pantheon."

"Povar, or The Veiled One, is the third member of the Triumvirate of Water. Povar is the conscious essence of water in its vaporous state and controls a third of the Elemental Plane. Being neither male nor female in form, neither tangible nor incorporeal, this divine entity holds the greatest mystery of the Triumvirate's members to the lesser gods. Keeping attentions focused upon the realm they assist to govern, Povar gives neither care nor notice to the wheel of Nature and Influence. This member of the Triumvirate has given no recorded notion or action beyond its own realm and the greater wheel of Elemental Powers."

So, thats how you get Coirnav The Avatar of Water. Tarew Marr (Water), E'ci (Ice), and Povar (Vapor).

Tarew is just an anagram of the word "water", E'ci is an anagram of the word "ice" and Povar is an anagram of the word "vapor". That is so lame. They were too lazy to make up real names for these npc's. Tunare is an anagram of the word "nature".

Actually "Triumvirate" comes from Latin.

The most famous Triumvirate consists in Caesar, Pompeus and Crassus, but thats history and nothing to do with EQ :)

It is quite funny to know that the "vir" root stands for "man" (opposite of "woman"). "Triumvirate" thus meaning : three men alliance.

Oh, wait, E'Ci is a god*dess*.. Guess some people @ SOE's need to get back in studies *grin*

Perhaps it is you who need to think more; yes, vir is the latin root of man. But also, we, in the english language, use the word Mankind. What does "Mankind" mean? I'll tell you, it means every human being on Earth, be it man or woman. Think about it, maybe, perhaps, just on a chance, there could just possibly be a woman in there, since after all it doesn't dictate that is has to be a man? Don't jump down people's throats so fast sir.
