i would LOVE this staff. casters get enough hate as it is, but adding in melee with a good ratio weapon just means hate that casters can not risk, with this staff it's proc will just keep you able to melee without worry of being targeted as its next lunch. the ratio is good for a caster weapon, 2hb means if you have to switch out anything it would be much easier (ask any 50s mage what type of weapon their 50s focus is..), the int/mana is very nice compared to what i see most my level have. i wouldnt be getting rid of this staff for a LONG time if i was awarded it.
Leave the first buff slot open on your MT, then when charm lands, it will go into this slot. Cast Nullify Magic, which takes the first two buff slots (as opposed to Cancel Magic, which seems to dispell random buff slots), and the tank is back in action. Make sure the MT has a instant crap-buff item so he can quick-click one back up, leaving the next slot for charm, which will then get dispelled, ad nauseum.
anyone know what this thing looks like? i've got the staff of the blood beast (2hb), and a stave of wit (2hb)... both of which have the same graphic of the opened book on the end of the staff...just wondering if most of the caster 2hb weapons have that same graphic. =D
Looks smilar to the Monk T-staff graphic... just a little darker. I like to put on a tunic vs a robe and cast illusion iksar. I then look very much like a monk. Btw my max hit with this so far is 83 :)
I got this staff from katta and i must say that the stats are great, it is very hard to find primary secondary with like 15 int 50 hp 50 mana and 20 int 50 hp 50 mana.
Effect works great, ask your chanter to SoS you and if the mob turns on you start hitting and when it procs the mob will lose agro hehehe. I used it last night in PoI.
Man that is a tough one, lol, Desperation?, as a proc?, ya when ya at the level to get this, if ya are meleeing for proc I bet you are! Effect? hilariously appropriate name Stats? Sheebah mi jeebus
Also, if you tash a mob and you get really high on the hate list, to the point where the mob still engages the MT, but if you sit down, he turns and attacks you... You might as well just walk up, knock him on the head a few times until it procs, then go resume medding.
Hi, Im just saying this becuase i just wanted to say something
Well on mith marr i was doing the rallic pack quest for the first time, So i got my runners pack and went to turn it in and when i come in i see a guild ( Not going to mention what guild ) and they came here to get this....Well i stayed just to watch and it was a TOTAL WIPEOUT....i would say there was about 40 of them lowest i think was a level 56. I didnt stick around to watch them try again. Ohhh yeaaah she can charm.
This is not a Mob that you can just walk up and fight. You need good tactics. We finally killed her with 17 people, which I'd say is pretty impressive. The smallest raid I've seen on her other than ours has been 24 people. You don't need alot of people for Lcea, you just need to know how to fight her. By the way, she either has TONS of HPs or really fast regen. Took us about 40 minutes to kill her.
approx 30 min fight. 16ppl, 1 group worth below lvl 55(seriously), 2 deaths(two of the <55's), dropped 2 staffs, orb, and some cash loot, jacinth and sapph neck i think. MT and ST ended up fully stripped of buffs before Lcea was at 50%. Had only one really bad hickup near the end (Lcea at <10%) when we somehow had 3-4 ppl(including a pet) charmed at once, still not sure how that happened, but it wasn't enough to stop us. MT/ST were 65 wars w/ <7khps each and around 1300ac. We did have 3 clerics and 2 druids and a shaman, one of each 65, which no doubt helped. But overall, if you're expecting the charm and plan for it, it's just another long named fight.
Did her with 15 and a backup cleric for rezzes (cleric didn't heal to save katta faction). :)
Took us 20 minutes. MT, ST AND TT all got stripped of buffs in the first couple of minutes. lvl 65 with 250 MR is not enough to resist her charm and for some reason cancel magic doesn't always strip the first slot.
Had 2 deaths in total, once a rogue after MT and ST got charmed and once the MT who got charmed just as a CH hit.
The stats aren't wrong. This item has a recommended skill which means you need to have 10 levels of 2hb before you can get the full effect of the stats and damage. The reduced stats he saw were most likely the result of him not having enough skill. After he put 10 points in it, he got to see the true stats.
What I don't understand is why so many people seem to think that EVERY new item should be the BEST item out there. My 50 enchanter would love this. My 55 Mage friend would love this. Just about any caster that doesn't yet have their epic would love this. Just because it's not the absolute best item out there doesn't make it useless. Heck, two groups can kill the chick that drops this... it's not like you're fighting the Creator or something.
Drops off Icea in Katta. Had my 60 necro there, the only int caster... 2 groups, took this wench out in a couple minutes.
Beats my zland heart/shield of the void combo to a degree, gonna use it as situational. Got max skill for 2HB as a necro (110) (i was bored pre kunark and maxed all my weapon skills lol) it's also great for buying peridots! :P
With the stats on this, who cares how much it reduces agro.... How about some useful information like where the mob is that drops it, how many hps, class etc. Some of the posts here are hmmm.. let's say, less than useful.
Naleni 52 Enchanter of The Tribunal Officer of Blessed Crusaders
Hmmm, for an officer of a guild, your skills at gleaning information appear to be, hmm, shall we say, less than spectacular. At the top of the right hand column on this page, you'll find the phrase, "This item is found on creatures", beneath which you will find those creatures listed, and a link for each one of those creatures, as well as what zone you may find the item. This thread is to discuss the item itself, not the mob that drops it. That's why there exists a link to Illia's bestiary, who does a ton of work in her own right, only to have you ignore the huge database she busts her hump to put together, instead flaming on the page clearly indicated for the item itself. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Ok now that everyone has had their 2 cents on this staff would anyone care to say where the heck does it drop?? I don't want to hear about why i shouldnt have this or why i shouldnt use that. I want to know where does it drop , let me go retrieve one and test it out myself. Then i can give an honest and educated opinion on its dmg, procs and desperation (unlimited i might add) effects. So I'll repeat ?!?!? Where the heck does it drop ?!?!
Nice stats but no saves OUCH think I would pass on the roll for that. Which BTW I saw this drop last night off the wench of katta...she has to many HP's but she is a big wuss with a sucky AE.
I take that back one of these dropped and I got it by default. This staff ownz but u have to have a 2hb skill of 10 for the statts to work.
back in my day *weeze* we didn't have non of these "special things" we had dmg/dly, class/race and wt, and we liked it, no we LOVED it, cuase thats the way its was, back before any of these *weeze* *fumbles for oxygen tank* *weeze* 10 slot hotkey boxes, back when we had 6 hotkeys and 6 hot key boxes OW! *breaks hip*
Actually wizards dont really need this effect at all because we have concussion which is the same as the rangers jolt spell (lowers by 400 though I think). It is a level 39 spell (although the quest to get it is a bit hard at that level), has a 2sec cast time and costs a measly 25 mana. What more do we need ? (except the lvl 60 "ancient" version =p)
This effect has a great name because you would want to use it when getting beaten on, and desperation would describe that situation perfectly.
Of course this staff kicks serious ***, good for any class that can use it.
