For the trivia-minded, these were originally dropped by the Tae Ew Diviner in Cazic Thule (long before the CT revamp).
Rubicite armor drops were removed from the game (replaced by Ravenscale drops) in the October 13th, 1999 patch (the same patch that moved the Journeyman's Boots off of Drelzna).
Rubicite Bracers
This is only good for twinking a noob. My Ry'Gorr bracers are better than this and only cost me 50PP each. The prices listed for this item are way too high. Just because it doesn't drop anymore does NOT make it more valuable than similar or better items that do still drop. I saw someone in Veeshan bazaar recently trying to sell the Rubicite Breastplate for 60k. I also saw someone selling the Iksar Ceremonial Chestplate, which has a higher regen rate for only 4.5k. Iksar Chestplate is clearly the more useful of the two items yet the rubicite still sells for more. Why? Because it no longer drops. Wake up people! You are stupid if you drop a ton of cash on old world gear that is long outdated when you could have more recent gear that is a lot better for a lot less money. 60k?? Even a fungi only goes for 50k on most servers.

You don't get this for the stats, you get it because its old-school EQ.
I remember seeing warriors and bards in their candy apple red armor running around, and it was really noticable then with so few colored armors. I wanted some for my warrior badly, but I wasn't their godly 45-50 range so I was out of luck. Then it stopped dropping completely one day, and I gradually saw it fade away, to be replaced by Lambent ("Blubecite" for its color) and other "newfangled" armor types.
But when I see a real Rubecite armor piece, it brings back the old EQ, when I was new to the game. And I get that old newbie feeling again, even after playing for 4 years and more.
Keep your Iksar Ceremonial Breastplate. It will be replaced by something better and dropped from people's minds and inventories in a flash. THIS is something you keep!

Considering the fact that a lot more powerful stuff is dropped nowadays, you'd think that they'd bring back Rubicite. But I guess that'll never happen...
Just over 8 years later and Rubicite is dropping again as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations. It's funny seeing an AC8 bracer drop from a level 80 "a lizard protector"!
