We did him with 8 about a month ago 2 druids 1 cleric 2 palys a warrior and a chanter all were 60+ most were 65. Only one elemental was the chanter. We had only one death got him rezed and back up fighiting it was fun and not too hard.
I looted it today, was a nice upgrade as a shield. The AC is quite low but 100 mana and 20 wisdom counterbalance the loss quite easily (plus my old skull shaped shield didn't have resists). All in all a really nice item for quite an easy fight (was done with 2 full groups without cleric but with me 58 Shaman and a 65 druid as healers). Nice combo with my epic. For your info it looks like a glowing red orb on your fist (just like monk epic).

Monk epic does not look like a glowing red fist. Perhaps you're thinking of the Whistling Fists, the iksar monk quest that's akin to the SK's Greenmist.
Monk epic is a hand-slot item with a particle effect off your hands if you have no weapon in that hand.
Got this thing last night... It is incredible, The 20 int allows me to have 255 int, Unbuffed to give me more mana in other slots. I have wand of musing in primary (20 int 100 mana Flowing thought 1) So these two combined, is 40int 200 mana.. WOW! Hopefully will get my epic very soon, Making it 45 int 200 mana.
I have my wiz epic, and I keep my Wand of Musing on 90% of the time. My int is maxed out and then some with KEI, so dropping off the 5 int isn't an issue usually. Only time I'll wear it is if I need the resists, or fighting a debuffing mob (if I lose KEI I drop to 242 Int holding the WoM) or just to show off :P
It's a shame the WoM looks so unspectacular compared to the crap 2hb staff and the Mootagoo Focus (or whatever it's called) +Channeling% mod staff.
Anyway, this is definitely a secondary I'm dying to get. Have a Vermillion Orb from Velketor right now, and am praying to get my grubby paws on one of these ;P
In case no one noticed this is nothing more then an Updated Ornate Rune Shield (after the resists were added). Yes it's a nice chanter item, but it also a nice Int/Wis caster item as well. Although clerics have more then enought oppurtunity to obtain something better by this level, they may not have been in one of the Elite UBER Guilds beforehand to have done so.
Rant and rave all you want I am an Enchanter and I seriously doubt i'd be mad at any of the pure casters for wanting a shot at this.
i agree. anyway i think this is missing on of the main stats which helps an enchanter the most, namely HP... Get an OOIV or something else that will keep you alive for longer (HP adds up in the long run with lots of equipment) and youll be much more happy i think :) I would like to see this go to a wizard druid or mage personally, the cha not really mattering too much for an enchanter (flame me if you want but enchanters get more than enough gear that has cha on it even if youre not even trying to raise your cha!). Just my opinion of who could use the stats the most :)
15cha ... 20intel ... 100mana ... chanters have a hard enough time trying to find items with even 2 of these stats on it. Put all 3 together ... chanter heaven.
This should be a chanter first bid. Yeah i said bid .. people that do Rhags dont roll on ****. I know, ill be pulling for this as a strictly chanter bid at first. We do the same thing for the mask from Servitor. Hell ... if anyone does bid against a chanter, well ... thats just wrong. Yeah id love it as a wiz. But adding 40 mana isnt important enough to me to take this from chanters.

METHINKS NOT. dont get me wrong, i love chanters. but just because it has cha doesnt mean it should be chanter-only. there are six other classes that would do unspeakable deeds to get their hands on one of these... cha makes it nice for CHAnters. it does not mean that other casters shouldnt get a chance to even roll on it. its not that hard to get good cha gear.
CHANTERS FIRST???? Bullcrap, I say. Chanters now have it EASY to get an item with 50 charisma that can go in primary, secondary or range. It's called a tradeskill trophy 10 str, 10 wis, 10 int and 50 cha ( non lore ). They are hard to make, but what chanter DOESN'T specialize in jewelcraft and have it maxxed by the time they can get this? The tradeskill trophies have made these items available to those who DO NOT have easy access to similar items. Chanters indeed.
P.S. I am not a chanter, only level 52 and I have the Grandmaster Brewer's Corker ( player made with the above stats, so it IS possible for others, just a lot of hard work )
i havnt started with jewelcraft like many other enchanters on my server (not really worth the money or the time with jewelry prices going down the drain after the implementation or the bazaar (although i didnt think of doing it before that anyway :P)).
Enchanters get lots of cha gear though, i agree with you.
eg 40cha mask from servitor of luclin 100cha robes from that guy in katta crown and rod from velketors.
these arent too hard mobs and when you can fight Rhags you should be able to take them down yourself too.
The only reason I can see is the Cha is good for us ugly Dwarven Warriors to sell and buy and the wis/int would help when working trade skills. Not really worth the time to get it unless you havent started a trade skill yet at this lvl, for anyone besides the pure casters that is.
How about the fact that this isn't even a range item, it is primary/secondary only. Any melee who would seriously want this should be banned for stupidity anyway. I would not worry about this going to a melee class. Any groups/guilds that could get this would never let that happen.
The item is wonderful indeed. I do not own one but I do say that this would be an addition to any sort of caster bar none. I was recently on a raid to Ssraeshza Temple and we took out Rhag`Zhezum and let me tell you, he's a nasty thing. His minions can hit in the 400 range, 200 on the lower level, but they are slowable. AC is very high but MR is low so nuking is a good idea. Cripple helps too. The big boss has a mess of HPs and flurries. I got to enjoy having the stuffing knocked out of me in 10 seconds after pulling argo for chain healing the Main assist. He also drops Group Focus and a few other high level Spells for various classes. I don't remember seeing this item drop so it might not be an everytime thing.
Good luck, this Temple is Nasty! But the float tunnle is fun. Oh and bring EB or you'll be starving for air.
This is an awesome item for pure int and wis casters, regardless of class. I know someone will want to say Chanter item, because of the charisma, but 20 int/wis and 100 mana, and 15 ac make this awesome for any caster.
I'd most likely use this just until I could get my hands on an orb of the infinite void so I'd probably pass if this dropped. The int and mana are great but, honestly, health is more important for necros that either int or mana. Great thing about the orb is that it's 35ac 5int 5wis 75health and 75mana. Has the all important health with some int/mana thrown in. 35 ac too is useful against exp mobs especialy soloing. :)
Yar this is a great item but I don't think it's a necro item unless you're one of those crazy int/mana necros.
