I have the Rebirth Leather Gloves and Sleeves. I have been trying for some time and still have yet to see a single Rotting or Thick Jawbone! Seems to me that the drop shouldn't be so rare that the desired aim (in this case collecting 4 jawbones) cannot be achieved before the mob /cons green.
My thought is that perhaps they are a more common drop in some other area. For instance, the needle claws from Needle Claw Hoppers are fairly rare drops in Shadeweavers Thicket but they are a more common in the Pit surrounding Shar Vahl. Does anyone know if the Skeletal Brigands or Skeletal Thugs can be found in any other zone?
Yes, sharp toothed jawbones for the rebirth sleeves but the next part of the quest is rotting jawbones to get the rebirth leggings. My Bst is lvl 22 now and with all of the skeletal brigands that I've killed I'm surprised that I haven't seen a single one!
She wants Sharp Toothed Jawbones as the first part of this quest and that results in Rebirth Leather Sleves.
After you complete that 1st quest she will ask for different, Darkened Jawbones if i'm not mistaken (the name can be wrong, but the jawbones will not be Sharptoothed).
This smells like the Ghoulam Armor Quest, although a bit harder
The armor pieces for BST are all very low AC, aside from phase spider carapace and treeweave.
I have it on good authority that BST legs drop from Venril Sathir in KC like all other Kunark armor, but the Kunark armor for BST is much lower in AC in relation to the other pieces. Even PoG armor is low AC. The best AC i have been able to find (if you would like to use the same armor for all slots) is the tailored Reinforced Acrylia armor. the tunic is only 14ac, at that. coterie armor has good AC also if u dont mind all the negs to fire resistance as they add up quickly.
i know all these armors dont look like much AC to most classes, but BST has little choice when it comes to AC. and it seems my BST isnt dependant anough on spells to make wis a key factor in his ability to take down mobs, but he is only 17, so maybe that will change.
all-in-all, 5-6 ac isnt bad for lowbie BST, especially if he can obtain it himself. keep in mind the ghulam armor quests, which seem much easier, have comparable AC, and a decent chunk of HP on each piece. a full suit may add 60+ hp to a lvl 12ish BST that can legitimately quest it on his own ... not bad ...
The Rebirth items are not even remotely Uber, of course, but they are arguably among the very best pieces of armor that an untwinked character starting out on Luclin can quest for in the eastern half of Shadeweaver's Thicket.
However, your point is valid. The truth is that by the time most of you down on Norrath travel to Luclin, you very likely have better than these anyway and will neither want them nor wish to waste the time to collect the uncommon drops required for the quest.
Leave these to the folks who would want and appreciate them -- like my untwinked Vah Shir Beastlord, who finds them quite adequate for his current needs.
As an aside, those of you who would want these sleeves, you will find that the Darkened Jawbones (off the Lesser Shades; for the gloves) are rarer still than the Sharp Toothed Jawbones (off the Skeletal Hunters).
I have only managed to get one of the Rotting Jawbones (off the Skeletal Brigands) so I am unaware of what the reward Spiritist Karina gives for them, and a single Thick Jawbone (off a Skeletal Thug, reward also unknown to me). I would assume Rebirth Leggings and Rebirth Boots are in the picture somewhere, but that has yet to be seen.
All in all, the Rebirth armor pieces are not easy to get because the items required to get them are uncommon drops, but they are worthwhile for an untwinked character to pursue until they can obtain better later on. Only those among us who really want them and need them will bother.
