I agree. As a shaman, I have never asked for any flowing thought items. The problem is not that I have gotten zero flowing thought items as a result while our clerics and pretty much everyone else has them coming out their ears(seriously) -- it's that FT is so common on items that are huge upgrades for any class regardless of whether there is FT on them or not. Turning aside loot after loot to give FT where it's needed most can mean getting nothing at all, slot after slot, for an incredibly long time. Which I've done and do...but it's nice to be able to ask for a shot at a piece of loot once in a while without feeling like you're doing the wrong thing.

<sigh> Only way im gettin this is if verant decides to give druids a 5k nuke that costs like 100 mana and has a repop time of like 2 seconds. What do you think the likelyhood of a druid actually getting to roll on this item if in a raid here? Can we say callin all clerics and chanters to isle 5? Guess im just gonna have to find me a nice lvl 60 chanter to settle down with :)
Ahh clerics.... The only wis casting class that can't use this item... That is the class you are talking about?? Don't think they will be getting this.
Koadic's Endless Intellect (AKA C3, KEI, The Holy Mother of All Crack, etc.) 60th Level Enchanter Spell. The culmination of the Enchanter's mental buffs, with an addictive duration. If you are lucky enough to be awarded with this beautiful group buff be wary of lower level Enchanters.
imagine this "group clarity inc" hehe... happened to me on the day that someone first used KEI on a group that wasnt expecting their 2.5 hour duration (?) buff from begin overwritten by soime ***** group clarity spell.. Got C2 now but thats beside the point... C3 dominanat over the others = good :)

That is an awsome boost, now maybe in your caster world that isn't so good but I know a 20str NECK item would be ******* uber for melee! The FT2 effect is just a nice little bonus, and if you don't like it don't trigger it. Sorry, just my 2cp. I couldn't believe scanning through these posts that you are complaining about FT2 and saying how ineffective and insignifigant it is, and not even mentioning that the item still rocks for the pure int and wis boosts!
You said it, you have no clue. FT2 is the coolness of this item (and it's permanent, stacks with other FT up to 15, stacks with your precious KEI you just bought at the nexus). The other stats are just the icing on the cake.
It drops in Akheva off The Itraer Vius (or something similar to that). He's got a boatload of hitpoints, too.
I happily added this FT2 puppy to my ******** FT2 may not compete with KEI, but get a few more FT items, my wizard epic (3mana/tick), my familiar (4/tick), KEI (16/tick) and suddenly it starts to make a rather significant difference. Basically mana regens so frickin slow it makes sense to take ANY increase in regen speed you can get.
p.s. until VI fixes it all FT effects stack (including ones of the SAME level) so a bunch of "insignificant" FT effects realy add up. Though witht the new focus items...hard choice to make in some cases.
FT doesnt make that big of a difference on your mana regen, 1 or 2 mana per tick is so insignificant... so there isnt an order on this, as any other piece of armor, its who deserves it most, who puts the most work into a guild (or whatever gets this item to drop). its never class specific when several classes are on pieces of armor...
Heh you know the only diffrence between Kodiac's and C2 as far as mana regen is 2pts? Now go 2pt a tick faster.....heh you gettin the picture yet? Heh, did I mention it stacks w/all mana regen buffs plus other FT items? FT is NOT overrated =)
Here let me give you some simple math to see how MUCH 2 mana a tick is.... 2 clerics both say level 60 and both with Kod's, 1 cleric has a FT 2 necklace the other one doesn't now lets say they both have 3000 mana with Kod's (14 a tick mana regen) It will take the cleric w/o the FT 2 mask 214 ticks (21.4 mins) to go from OOM to FM the one with the FT 2 mask will only take 187 ticks (18.7 mins) .....you see? And that's only 1 FT item....did I mention they all stack? JEBUS man think of the possibilities! Add a Coldain Shawl? You just went down to 176 ticks (17.6 mins) Heh and I'm not even gonna start on the stats: 10AC caster neck? 20 wis/int 60HP AND GREAT saves 15 fire 20 magic! now you add FT2 on it....heh that's just sick dude
"Lies, damn lies, and statistics" comes to mind here. Sure, if your cleric doesn't *mediate*, then FT 2 improves full mana regen from by 2.7 minutes (from 21.4 minutes to 18.7). I don't have an exact stat on mediate refresh - I've heard 37 mana/tick in the 50's, and I've heard (med skill)/10 per tick.
Let's take the mid-50's example of the worse of these two: Around 23 mana/tick while medding. Kodiak's adds 14/tick for a total of 37/tick. Now your cleric regains full mana (out of 2000) in 9.01 minutes without FT2 and 8.55 minutes with it -- About 28 seconds faster. Not a *huge* increase, but certainly desirable.
So, you might say, the cleric is not able to med in battle. Well if that is the case, then in a 5 minute battle in which they are not able to med, FT2 has provided her with 100 additional mana regen. Again, not a *huge* amount, but certainly desirable.
All in all, I have to agree with the original poster that FT items are overrated. I'm not going pass one up myself, certainly, but I'm also not going to lose sleep at night if I don't get one.
Adding more FT items in Luclin is simply a bone tossed to casters/priests to try to make them feel better about a game that became increasingly melee driven in Kunark, and even moreso in Velious. It seems to have worked too since so many feel these are the ultimate items to obtain for their classes.
Honestly the classes that benefit most from FT items are hybrids -- since they are *not* able to meditate during battle the effect is much more pronounced on mana regen.
Edit: Changed 60 additional mana to 100. Long night you know :)
Yes, they do, I've read where Verant said they DO stack! so you my friend are just wrong. and I also agree with the happiness that for ONCE the cleric gets the damn shaft! -cackles insanely-
Finally? I think there are fewer flowing thoughts items for clerics than any other class (Monks Warriors and Rogues are likely the exception :p). Priests in general are the rarest also. I do realize that guilds will tend to default an item with flowing thought to clerics, but that is because so much of the downtime is based on cleric buffs. Over all, Luclin items seem to be limiting healing enhancements as much as possible. It seems to me that Verant has decided that casters need buffed to be competitve with meleers (they do), while they seek to maintain the downtime by limiting healing mana (EQ has a lot of downtime, but it promotes socializing, so it might be intentional. It seems to work no matter how much we don't like it). Yes, Cleric items tend to have higher Wisdom and AC, but anything that boosts mana regen is far more limited for Clerics. Understandable considering they need to limit Clerics due to Complete Heals power in groups, but still painful. :/
I may be a little biased, but I would agree that clerics come first, obvously not on this item tho. After that I would prolly put necro's as high if not higher on the line as chanters. Reasoning for this is, although a rather inefficient use of mana in some situations, necro's are usually just mana batteries for the cleric/chanter/wizzie, whoever...(course this all depends on wether or not the ft item line stacks with lich, if anyone knows please let me know) ,and spend most of our time medding. Course getting others to agree would be the true trick =P Its very nice to see items like this comin out, although the chances of getting an item like this for the average player isn't too great. All in all tho, because cler's aren't avail to use this, there really isn't really one class who could argue that they need this more than the other (we can sure try tho! =P).
Death...now that would truely be a great adventure.
My 63 shaman has this...so no one should pre-judge who should get this. Yes I have Canni 5 but a lot of PoP groups go cleric-less...5 melees and a shaman. So this..along with Mark of Itraer and Ear of Solstice make nice mana props.
