Sorting Shaman piercers by Wisdom, this spear and 2 others are the highest you can get before entering Planes and no-drop weapons (Sky, Time, etc).

Purchased for 400pp in the Sol Ro Bazaar 6/24/03.

Ok, yesterday I was very lucky. I accidently spent 12pp on a chain helm, and then auct'd for banded armor. This 64 warr says she'll make me any pieces i need for FREE. That was good because I couldn't afford too many, so she makes me all but neck and legs. Anyway, I asked if she knew good piercing weps (I'm a Shaman) and she said lemme check on my alt. She comes to the area with the alt and GIVES me Spine Chill Spear, Howling Harpoon, Runed Circlet, and a few other items, for FREE!!! Now my question is, which spear is better? I have a piercing of 9 lol (I'm lvl 10) so is one better to raise my skill or anything? Right now I use the Spine since its faster and the HH can go in my range so i can get its stats as well. Thank you.

Some time ago this weapon had its range value removed so it cannot be thrown now. Its one of the nicer range items a shaman can get. I saw a 52 mage /auc in EC for 500pp. I sent him a tell immediately and met him at T1. When he got there he said that he would take 300pp for it--I didnt even try to bargain him down. Very nice for the WIS/mana addition and even tho its a fairly high damage piercer by the time it procs at level 40 a shaman trying to melee XP giving mobs with this will get eaten alive, even if they are slowed. Still, might be useful fighting a mob that gates or CH's at low health. A slime coated harpoon is better for raising piercing skill since it has 10 less delay.

I was in FV running to the bridge when all of a sudden a warrior yells for help right in front of me. I freaked out because I was a tad drunk - and everything was moving side to side. Anyway, I greater healed the lvl 53 warrior. It sucked my mana dry so I went to med in front of the bank. A few seconds later he asks if I have a howling harpoon. I said no. He asked if I wanted one. To my shock and amazement he GAVE me the HH! I just couldn't believe it. I was amazed at his kindness. Thanks Tatar.

Regards having an expensive wep in the range slot an throwing it by accident....don't have a macro made for the range weapon and you cannot throw it! that simple.)

Just some food for thought. I recently picked up a spine chill spear for 750pp (A bargain by all accounts). It has a dmg ratio of 2.8 (10 28dly) which is slightly better than the howling harpoon as well as +6wis, +2sta, and 10sv v cold. It only weighs 3 and procs shock of ice (38dd). I guess the stun effect of the howling harpoon may at first glance seem a little better, but given that I normally pull using Tagars when soloing I find the Spine chill a better option and can normally get as many hits in while a mob is slowed plus my first dot as when it is stunned especially when puppy is in play as well. Any thoughts?

I just bought one on Cazic Thule server. 2 guys were auctioning them in EC. One wanted 3k obo the other wanted 2k obo. I bought it for 1500pp off the second guy...Ogres just act dumb 8)

Just got 1 last night. Procs Shock of Ice. Not sure what level it starts at. Im a 42 Shaman and it procs for me.
