All in all, picking up two for a little ore than a silver each, I thought, was worth it. Beat the heck out of the noob weapon I was given. Ok, the delay is a little slow, but what heck. 2 silver is all it cost me.
I bought this item with my lvl 16 monk in the Bazaar. I gave 1 copper each. that is interesting to hear people give 200 pp for it. A well, maybe i got lucky.
thats not 100% accurate. if you can find a good monks page, the damage/delay for raw fists is probably worse, or at least the same.... and so the 10 damage is a welcome thing. But yes, Id prefer a lower delay regardless of damage, because I could skill up.
Far too common on Luclin -- especially in the Shar Vahl, Shadeweaver's Thicket (where they drop), and Hollowshade Moor zones -- to be worth more than a plat, at best.
Down on Norrath, that may be an entirely different story altogether. You are on your own to decide whether you want to pay whatever the asking price may be in order to gain that cool look in your off hand.
I sent this item and 4 others in 10 days ago... ain't seen 'em yet, and this definitely isn't the pic I sent in... guess if it ain't uber, you don't get credit.
Beastlords are kinda like monks, they do more dmg with their hands, and its gettable at 10, what noob do you see at lvl 10 with a 10dmg wep? Twinkies! thats who, but anyway...I say it fits the roll of the Essense of Dol.
I happen to have one of these with my 'noob' level 3 VAH BL and it wasn't from a twink. I have to laugh when I see a post like this. If ya just use your head when selling and buying extra equipment, it isn't uncommon to come across something like this from a merchant. Sure it might cost a little more than getting it free from a drop, but then again, how bad do you want the item. I make it a point every level &/or trip to town (to unload my excess loot) to check-out a few vendors that I either haven't visited for awhile or have never visited. You never can tell when you will come across a piece of armor/weapon/magic item that someone didn't need at a relatively cheap price for your level. I found my Fist of Bone in a tavern for slightly more than 1pp (don't remember the exact cost) and at level 3, this is a fantastic weapon!
too heavy for monks, and BLs are better off using piercing or blunt. The +10HP is nice at lower levels... This is a pretty nice drop all in all considering the difficulty of the monster, though.
BL's better off using piercing or blunt? what are you crazy? If you take a look at most of the new BL weapons they are H2H not piercing or blunt. IMO This is a fairly decent offhand item a little slow but it would work until you finish the claw quest for a Vah Shir or whatever quest is requireed for the other races.
Weight 1.4 is too much for a monk? First of all, a single fighting baton weighs more, and I'm pretty sure those aren't too heavy for monks. Besides, the AC hit for being overweight at level 10 isn't nearly as much of a problem as it is 15 or 20 levels later. And what about the high level monks that would give an arm and a leg for one of those phat 2hb weapons that weighs 10 stones? There are reasons to take a heavier piece of equipment for a monk (and this really isn't heavy at all).
It is unfair to say that all weightless items should be given to monks. But it is also unfair to say that just because an item has a little weight that it should not go to monks.
