And the last thing ... see Tome of Self Reflection and u will see the (worn) statement. Effects without anything after em are Triggered. or random i.e. Mana Preservation
RE: TRIGGERED ! ! ! !
# Jul 10 2002 at 11:30 AM Rating: Default
One mor thing :) if it was a Perm effect it would say (worn) after the effect.

By now you prolly know that FT is not triggered. It benefits the wearer while it is worn.

yes is a perm effect yes mob is easy, slowable hits 250ish vindi like fight casts aoe that will **** up most spells and is a dot

The effect is not permanent, you click it on, it stacks with clarity. The Overfeind hits for 780, not 250 and the fight is about 30 minutes on average, not easy at all. You need a few clerics and bards to keep them with mana, and must have a ew casters with the Remove Curse. If you can keep this guy slowed and the healers with mana he's not so bad and the rewards are well worth the fight.

Probably is a permanent effect, not triggered. My understanding is that all of the flowing thought items were self only permanent.

On another note, what a tease for wis casters. Oh look, 10wis, +25 mana and flowing thought 2, Oh, we can't use it. Nice for Int casters, but why the extra wis, if not wis caster usable?
RE: Triggered

There seems to be a school of thought that wis helps with fear saves.
RE: Triggered
# Jan 31 2004 at 5:05 PM Rating: Default
that school of thought is WRONG!!!
my druid has 285 Wis and i run JUST AS MUCH as EVERYONE else does (and yes i've had plenty of opportunities to experience that)
RE: Triggered

Well, at that level all casters are going to have 200+ int, but with items like this, they can say "nyah nyah my wisdom is higher than yours"
RE: Triggered

Probably wis bonus for trade skills. I know raising trade skills now goes off the higher of int and wis, but how about success? Just food for though.

Success goes off the level of your skill lol. If you could just increase a stat to increase your success rate, why would you bother increasing the skill?
RE: Triggered
# Dec 18 2001 at 8:45 AM Rating: Default
A percentage of success is based off you're wis score. Int primarily affects the ability to learn the skill, Wis increases the ability of the skill to be successful.

Completely wrong. Please disregard. SlurpeeAddict's info is correct.

I have read in an official post (no, im not going to seek out that thread, you will have to believe me or not) that wis also helps to resist fear.
Also completely wrong and rudely worded to boot. No fear spell does a check against the wis of the person being cast on. Look up fear spells on Lucy to see exactly what resists are checked.
Quote:
Doesn't wis help resist charm?
No. Again, check Lucy to see what resists are checked.

These are old posts so I'm not really suprised by the misinformation posted. I just want to make sure no new players are misled by these claims.

To quote Niami's post on www.eqtraders.com

"As of May 13, 2001, the following information was confirmed directly to Niami, by Yakatizma (tradeskills developer at Verant) with regards to stats and tradeskills. This is the MOST recent information we have available, despite at least a dozen different message board threads from folks trying to pull information from old threads, other sites, etc. When we/I know more, it will be posted here, but please, in the meantime, accept that this is as recent/accurate as it gets. Debate it all you want, as Verant has been known to be wrong before, but please, folks, don't expect me to re-re-re-restate this information in every new message board thread that you feel like starting. ;)

INT & WIS: whichever of the two is higher will affect skill increases when practicing ALL tradeskills. The higher either your INT or WIS is, the greater the chance you have for a skill gain while tradeskilling.

STR: higher strength will give you an added bonus to your chance at gaining skill increases while smithing.

D EX: higher dexterity will give you an added bonus to your chance at gaining skill increases while fletching or tailoring.

CHA: higher charisma, along with faction, will affect your buying and selling prices with merchants.

Stats have no impact on your chance of success or failure when practicing tradeskills. (Only your current skill is supposed to impact your chances of success or failure when creating an item.)"

The bottome line: Wis has nothing to do with success or failure rate. It works just like Int and whichever is higher determines how fast you learn a tradeskill.

I have read in an official post (no, im not going to seek out that thread, you will have to believe me or not) that wis also helps to resist fear.
If I am not mistaken, this corresponds also to the AD&D rules.

LOL

Nope, in Ad&D you have your core saves... wand, breathe weapon, spell etc etc etc. So, nope, your not correct.

This is not a flame. Just want to dement a common misunderstanding.
It has been stated by VI over and over again, that trade skills are ONLY affected by the higher of your wis or int. The whole "success depending on wis, skill-upping depending on int" speculation is simply not true... Unless of course the statements by VI are merely there to confuse us :-)
good for any caster...
# Dec 17 2001 at 6:01 PM Rating: Default
I wonder though, if the triggered spell on this can be cast on others, or if it's self-only.

RE: good for any caster...
# Dec 17 2001 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
aye, flowing thought items are all permanent to my knowledge, and thus self only.
