hehe, can anyone answer any questions instead of talking about bonus damage? Like where dose this weapon drop, from wich mob, what lvl is the mob, ect.. I'm a 54 warrior and been going to akheva the past couple of days and would like to know this so in case I decide to go hunt for it. Allthough I am using a Felhammer as my 2hander, 34/46, I'm looking for something with a little bit more speed like this one.
hehe, can anyone answer any questions here instead of talking about bonus damage? I've been going to akheva a couple of times. I'm a 54 warrior and would like to know where this thing drops and from wich mob and what lvl is the mob, ect. I think you can go in around 51 or even 50 long as your in a good group. Just be carefull that there are creatures at the entrance to the zone from ME who will attack you if your not invis.
Hehe someone said bad things bout ranger's dam bonus .Not flamin but get informed before postin, ranger has same dam bonus as pal,sk,war at same lvl.And we do more cos we have better accuracy .I can reach 1500 atk with proper buffs. Not sayin we re the best, just tryin to get things right. Enjoy Laiana Stormwind Warder : D Bertox server
Seems like the Ranger is a little too self-confident and didn't let the truth sneak into the post. :-) Paladins and SKs(for sure, perhaps Warriors as well), have a different damage-bonus on 2-hand weapons than Rangers do, gaining more bonus based on delay. So...Paladins and SKs CAN do more damage than the RNG, regardless of their rather useful attack buffs(which SKs also gain a group-buff at higher levels that increases ATK or AC). Why is it Rangers always feel the need to try to make Paladins look bad?
Better dmg than pally epic. As under 40 delay weapons all have the same dmg bonus. The lower the delay the more efficient weapons become solely due to dmg bonus.
The formula below is (DMGx2)+DMG Bonus /(Delay/10), to get dmg per second.
Fiery - Avg dmg per second ((35x2)+22)/4.0 = 23.0 Lunar - Avg dmg per second ((26x2)+22)/3.4 = 21.8
Add in extra dmg from Frost;
Lunar - Avg dmg per second ((32x2)+22)/3.4 = 25.3
Even if the frost only goes off 50% of the time, this swords dmg output is better than epic.
Considering I wont be getting epic .. Id settle for this in a second .. if I could get it .. :P.
You forget to add in the proc of the FD, 155dd + Stun, and the ability to bash with it. Get Fiery Defender if you can, it is a better sword than the prima donna's really know.
got one of theese baby's other night , i use a frostbringer and club of iceocean , no i find my 2HS going up in lvls , nice dam/delay ratio ...if you get one you'll see want i mean:)
DMG bonus was always there, it just wasn't listed. You won't do more damage with any weapon that you had before, except for the upgraded classes who received special dmg bonuses.
For example, a caster holding this wouldn't even SEE a damage bonus. A ranger would see the small damage bonus this would give him, and a Paladin or a ShadowKnight would see a bigger damage bonus because of their class, and this being a 2HS. If you keep a weapon from a low level and wait till you're higher, you'll notice that the dmg bonus grew.
The dmg bonus shouldn't be listed on the weapon, but on your character, because the weapon isn't GIVING you a dmg bonus, your class and lvl determines it for each type of weapon. The only exception is greater dmg bonus for higher delay.
The Cold dmg is new... with much speculation as to how it works. It may work like Bane dmg, but then again, it may not... we'll have to wait until someone does massive amounts of tests... but with all the cool stuff out there undiscovered, don't expect much testing to be done for a while.

Posted:Dec 16 2001 at 3:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I read these threads looking for useful information on the mob that drops this sword in Akheva Ruins and I find posts like this.. how depressingly useless is this post? Your wasting precious server storage space and my loading time by posting that crap. You have a lvl 20 weapon, good for you, do we care that you want this? No. Will you ever get one? Probably not.
I would have to call this one of the better pre epic 2hs swords in the game... top 5 definatly.. disregaurding ntv and epics. The only real thing u lose from big damage swords is the extra damage for over 40 delay.. which really isnt too much.. but the delay on this peice more than makes up for it.. 34 :) cant beat that for a good 2hs. Nice stats too.
no this is not how damage bonuses work average hit on a weapon is dmg x2 +bonus so for the user of this it would be 74 (26x2+22) but wait~ theres more the Cold damage gets a check vs cold on teh mob, if it passes then it changes the damage of the weapon to 32! so your average hit would be 86 (32x2+22) hooray
this looks like a real nice all round wep. Most likely will be used by pallies and sk's cause its 2hs. I bet this place that it drops is a bit like ToV in loot(ok ok i dont really know im just guessing) oh well... i'd get one if i could =P
on AO there are different AC for different damage as well as melee dmg. Heat cold chemical and electric ac. I had a wep on my enforcer that did electrical damage! May be that is sorta how this works... perhaps the extra cold damage is not determined by the AC, but by the cold resist... cause it isnt bane dmg. Also i might add that it is pretty light and fast for a 2hs... also nice hp!
Lol ya... next there gonna have EQ weapons procing......... wait....... they already have that... hehe well soon they will have a light radius...... oh... wait the already have that too.........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... oh well at least D2 characters dont have to eat...
You do an attack, it rolls for hit (you hit) It then does a resist check against the opponent Cold Resist.
If they fail, the damage is computed as if it was a 26 + 6 = 32 damage weapon. If they pass, its computed as a 26. Possible that partial resists could enter the equation, so if they resist is 50%, then it could be computed as a 26 + 3 = 29 damage weapon.
So, against cold vulnerable creatures, this acts like a 32/34 2HS, not too shabby.
That sounds right. I've heard people say its just an extra 6 damage done but I seriously doubt it. Now if this wasn't no drop, I'd love to buy one with my Pally, that is if I could afford what this is worth ;)
actually, it gives the number in % , so im thinking that it adds an extra 6% damage. Say for example you hit for 100, and full cold damage, you would hit for 106?

The +6 (or some reduced value) is added to the damage rating of the weapon, after check vs. cold resistance. Normally creatures will have SOME cold resist, but when the target totally fails the resist, the weapon hits like it was 32dmg/34delay. More often I presume it's some lesser value due to partial resist.
Verant staff (Absor?) have explained this more than once and they're pretty explicit about how it works.
Note, Bane damage is something else, and so is the bonus damage.
Bane damage may be added to weapon rating vs. the right kind of creature, similar to this but with no resist check, but I'm not certain.
I think the bonus damage, in hitpoints, is simply added to each hit (because I never hit for 1 point anymore, instead the bonus is the minimum.)
