That may seem a bit unrelated, but I got a 8/18 (no drop) that weighs only 2.0 stones. If you can take a young monk to Dawnshrowd peaks (by maiden's eye zone, off the trogladite guys. I took my monk at level 7. Its a no drop but I believe lore also, people were more then happy to let me loot it. Of course there is much better, and some stuff is debatable... For example the added ac and hitpoints of the fine steel ulaks, which a merchant will sell for like 3pp.
I have fought this mushroom guy twice now, first time he dropped an Ancient Sensate Shield, and then the Fist of Horn. Maybe I just got really lucky. IMHO as a non-twinked character, this was an EXCELLENT drop for the level. But what do I know.
This is a nice item with a very cool look. But...(you knew it was coming). If you want bang for your buck just get a polished steel ulak for 20pp from almost anyone hunting in DS Peaks or selling in the bazaar. If your a fashion conscious player this is your choice, if your a penny pincher stick with the Polished Ulak. And not to mention the Ulak has better overal stats IMHO.
I tried for an hour and not a single offer, noone would even give me 300pp for it, no trades nothing. I finally sold it to a friend for 50pp just to get rid of it.

WTS lammy 3k is a usual but seeing 700pp fer fist of horn seems a bit off since there are better out there at that price lol. Sooo what ya do? Lure them in. wait fer a bit....i sold one of these to a monk in WC fer 357pp. She asked me why a polished steel ulak has better stats and is cheaper i simply said back. This comes off a long waiting mob spawn time. she put a smiley face in the tell and handed over the 357pp =)
The Shik'nars surrounding his roost aggro on anything less than level 30. You have to wade thru at least 8 of the insects to get there and then beat the crap out of him before the insects repop. He is definitely a level 30 mob.
He can be taken out by my level 32 BL and Warder pretty quickly, as long as the shiks don't pop around FIDO and distract her away . . .
Just a few corrections. I camped this guy with my 23 beastlord hoping to get 2 fists because I have no h2h weapons as of yet, and there are only 3 shik'nars in the cave where the reishicyben spawns. At 23 they were mostly light blue to me with the rare dark blue. The owlbear cub in the water was green to dark blue. None of these mobs agro'd me while I was sitting on the rock in the center of the room where reishi spawns. These mobs, as well as the rest of the mobs in Paludal, have a very small agro range. When killing the reishi, I would swim to the back of the cave, opposite the side where 2 of the shik'nar spawn. From there, I would pull with drowsy and fight right there. It was a surprisingly easy fight, considering reishi was yellow to me. It was a long fight, but easy. As long as you don't try to rush it, you should be fine. All I did was keep drowsy and tainted breath on reishi, and my pet required maybe 2 or 3 complete heals the whole fight. I didn't try to tank him myself because he does hit pretty hard, and for a beastlord, healing my pet is far more mana efficient than healing myself, so I went that route. At any rate, he was easy, but after killing him 3 times, I've gotten 2 eyes and 1 shield. No fists yet. =(
camped him today got the shield first, fist of horn second and cape third.. sold the fist for 400p since was only getting offers of around 300 on Brell.
what's the deal with the damage bonus on these things? I thougth I read somewehre that Damage Bonus shows up on all weapons or something now . . .bonus changes depending on lvl. Anyone know anything about this?
jeez sorta cant believe people take this long to learn whats goin on with dmg bonus... 1h weapons go up with lv's 1 point every set ammount of levels... 2h weapons are a mix between lv and dly... higher the dly the higher the dmg bonus...
i killed this guy about 7 or eight times i have gotten the fists 3 times the Cape one the Shield one and the eyes twice the spawn is about 90 minutes. I pop in and out to kill the guy. I gave them away free to my friends because of how many I get
It is not listed in the Beastiary list that he drops this weapon. I assumed it was a rare drop, but I've killed him somewhere in the ballpark of 10 times and not seen it yet. I'm getting ready to camp him hard because I want two of them for my Val Shir.
Also the level is a bit high. I am a 29 Druid and I can take him easily (if he doesn't resist my spells :)
Reshy was yellow to a 22, took him out with a 22war and a 21 bard. Max hit was 56, and he had an AOE, but was resisted. I'm 1 for 3 on these drops, other two were eyes.
My experience was different. Killing the big shroom 6 times, I got two Fists of Horn, Two Eyes, Two Cloaks, and no Shields, which is what I was really after. Also got some lens things that look like a lightstone, and some beetle eye lookin item with 1 charge of see invisible, in addition to the main drop. Since they are all lore except the Fists of Horn, can only loot one of the Eyes and Cloaks. Still lookin to sell the 2 Fists of Horn, if you are on Bertoxx sent me a tell. Difficult camp because it spawns only every 90 minutes and there is often lvl 40-50 people waiting at the spawn site for him to pop. Easy kill for 30 shaman.
Yes this item does drop off of that silly giant mushroom. From my experience these are the rarities of his drops: Both the Ancient Sensate Sheild and the Ancient Sensate Cloak are common (about 50/50 ratio) the Ancient Sensate Eye would be Uncommon and the Fist of Horn would defenitly be the rare drop. Camped him for two weeks now on and off, killing him in the area of 15 to 20 times have seen the Eye twice the Fist once and the rest were the Cloak and the Shield. Basicly dont camp him expecting more than one or you will be disappointed. Hope this helps and Good Luck. =)
I killed this guy about 5 times in the first week after Luclin came out and got the Fist of Horn the first 3 of those five times. I then got the shield once and the cloak once. Maybe they've made the fist a not so common drop since then, but it might just be luck.
Damage bonus is based on level and class, the formula for 1-hander damage bonus for melee classes is as follows:
(level -25)/3, discarding ALL fractions.
Therefore, bonus is 1 on level 28, 2 on 31, 3 on 34, etc. Pretty easy once you think about it, and plus you can tell the approximate level of the person who posted it, provided they are a melee or hybrid. This was posted by a 43-45 level person. Hope this helps.
Anybody have an idea what the basic damage/delay of fists are? I wouldn't be surprised to learn this varies with level and discipline, but a ballpark figure to give an idea of what would be better, fists or something like this.
Although, these do add more stats that fists, yeah. got _that_ figured out already.
Just got 2 of these for my monk alt and bot mine were 8 damage 26 delay and have loads of stats. When equipped look like you have flashing red beacons on your hands which is kinda cool.
Very rarely camped on Bristlebane server everytime I went there over the course of 4 days no-one there but this big shroom )
4 damage, 36 delay base for everyone. As stated in the other reply, monk fists get better, but, judging by the abundance of H2H weapons available, especially for Bestlord, I do not think theirs goes up, at least not as much.
fist damage/delay gets better as u level(for monks atleast) and is different for human and iksar(human being slightly better) for exact go here: http://www.monkly-business.com/articles2.asp?ArticleNum=70
got two, didn't know price, so i sold my first for 500 pp, traded second straight up for a cane of tranquil (1kpp) which i then sold, so if you average it out i'd 750pp each is what i got for 'em
