I've been doing exp at the Goranga tree for a week or so now, and have seen the Chieftan spawn 4 times. He always spawns at the same spot on the tree, but can have place holders. If his PH is being constantly killed, it would certainly be possible to see him a few times within a day. He's not too hard to pull solo, as long as you harmony any nearby Goranga Lookouts. He's certainly higher level than the other Gorangas, maybe low 50s (he resists a lot). His HP is somewhere around 10-15k. He can quad for approx. 170 and will enrage at low health. Out of 4 kills, I've seen him drop this range item twice and a 7ac 3str 4wis 4int necklace twice. Good luck on your hunting. ^_^

This mob isn't so awful for a small group or duo, his resists aren't very high, and if he is slowed his melee dmg is not all that much. Pulling him solo will be your problem, but once you have him he's not so bad, and drops one heck of a nice range item.
As for the item itself it seems pretty high end for the ease with which you can get it, I guess VI had changed their definition of Risk vs. Reward.

Finally a 15+wisdom range slot item without having to get people together to do talisman of benevolence quest (though I would still like to do it) Now the only question is is how hard is this to get?...

Just gotta run out to Maiden's and grab some uber loot nowdays, none of this BS about killing dragons, maxing fishing skill and baking and running out to CS to hand some punk Othmir items that you can accidentally eat by clicking on them or going afk for too long :) Oh well, wouldn't use this, have a bette range with +10 MR/FR/PR, which kills 15 wis any day on my server :P Maybe if I'm quading without any chance of getting jumped......

After all, it's unlikely that your guild would MQ you the velious quest armor, and you can't have planar gear yet, so who the heck do you think you are saying that they are growing up???

The Chieftan is a bit tougher than the other gorangas, was hitting for 171, hitting fast, and enraged at the end. But DAMN is that a sweet item! :)

I don't know personally about the mob that drops this item, but I do know that for casters at least (as long as you mind the aggro) this zone is very doable at 50. Melee's may have a hard time being the main tank at under 55 however due to the damage these mobs dish out. I'm only level 50, have spent 2 days killing here recently, and only died twice. (once was a happy tash finger, the other was a train in the back) On the chanter end of things at least, this zone is great. Being able to land spells about 70 percent of the time on a red mob before tashing and 90+ percent on tashed mobs is something I haven't seen in a while... Possibly back in Blackburrow...

Maidens is really easy for a group, usually people are 55+, but a 52+ grp can easily handle about anything around the zone. From what ive seen stuff hits for double 135 ish, and easily slowed. I havent seen any of these drop yet but I cant wait :)
