Divine Inspiration  

 

I got this today at about 7pm EST. I have been camping the tree solo for about 2-3 months atleast half of my play time. This was the 4th time I have EVER seen the chief and the second time I have soloed him. My first attempt ended with a death as I got a follower as an add and slow wore off of the cheif as I just used my last mana for a DoT. Got him to 30%. Got a rez and the cleric stayed to help me. Got him single pulled the second try and soloed him pretty easy ( cleric helped out nuking but I would have won easy--I was glad he stayed tho ). When I went to loot the corpse I found it! Finally I can forever say goodbye to ME. If this were a tradeable item it would sell between 20 and 50k as pure INT casters can use it too and it range equippable. I still keep my stone idol tho ( ac 5, 8 WIS, +15 MR ) as its good when I need MR. This has been the worst camp in the world by far of any of the items I have quested for. But atleast a single player can solo him whereas a group/raid is needed for the OPT as the non-triggerd Faydedar is a rare spawn and dies 2 hours after spawning as he pathes by the iksar master on the island and gets his a$$ kicked. Good luck to all who may try this camp. BTW I do not have any of my 59/60 spells except for Focus of Spirit, no malo, no torpor, etc. Chief has about 18k hps and hits for 171 max bashes for 70ish and is always level 58. He does not cast or gate and can be solo pulled by a 59+ shaman if he is surrounded by gatheres only. Thats why its important to clear out lookouts, tribesman and the like so when he spawns you will have a clear shot at him, otherwise you will need some creative crowd control ( ie ghetto mez ( root )), or a partner to handle adds. He enrage at 10% for about 10 seconds. He also runs at 10% provided you arent too low in health. That should be all the info you need to defeat him.. Good luck.

Here's the story:

I was hanging out here in ME with another druid (even) and a monk friend. Well... All of a suddon someone shouted "Divine Inspiration rotting at xxxx, xxxx" and both me and the other druid rushed over to the loc. We both found the corpse but then he got aggro from a goranga and had to run to zone, and I looted the corpse =)

Chief only spawned once last night, but that's all that we needed for him to drop this nice item. Luck was on my side with a 898 roll.

i camped him for 8 hrs today and saw him once and only got his common the neckless i was also told that he is a rare spawn and that the di is a rare drop so...

Killed the chief 2 nights ago in Maiden's eye, he spawned after about anhour of killing around "the tree". He is basically cake for a high level tank when slowed (we had a 59 SK), and he didn't resist anything really. Has alot of hp, and the fight lasted to the point where slow had just worn off right before he died. I was also chain nuking with the jbb, and pretty much every nuke hit for full, so his cold resist is weak. Very, very nice item.. wish it wasn't no drop so I could get me a fungi :)

Got one few days ago. Chieftain is hard. Killed him with a 55 shaman (me) and a 57 ranger. Chief was yellow to the ranger. Once the chief enraged, the ranger kited him around while I finished him off with the JBB (i was oom and the ranger was at 20% health). Good thing the chief is not resistant to poison, magic or cold. No trouble slowing, snaring or dotting but root would never stick for long. Hit for 171. This guy has a BOATload of hitpoints. Awsome item. Killed gorangas all night after that at the tree camp by the wall...but never saw the chief again.

I was fighting here with a good group today and one dropped. I was like oh my god yes. Then we started to roll. The first person did a /random 1 200 and got a 38, then the second got a 9 then it was my turn to roll. I thought this item was going to belong to me but i rolled a 17. Needless to say #@(@($.

I have spent some time there the past couple days, with a guild group of high 50's. The Chief which drops this item was level 58 (Was white to a level 58 person), although it is possible that his level can vary a bit.

The Stone Idol, another nice no drop range item, (5ac 8int/wis 15 mana) also drops in the area, but this one blows it out of the water. ;)

I don't think a single group consisting only of people under 55 could take the chief.

Well, I won this item last night but this guy is NOT low 50s. Maybe he's been upgraded because he conned yellow to me and I'm 57. The HP estimate sounds right at 10-15k though he hits a bit harder if I remember. To be honest, everything seems to hit hella hard when you play a chanter. :(
