Cant believe Xev is such a joke, After reading that these gaunts go for as low as 500plat-- I changed my mind thinkn 3k was low when there were 5 pair highest 5k-- what is up with Xev??
the reason why the coldain skin gloves, gloves of the damned, and grey flesh gloves are worth 2.5-5k depending on server is because of the pure casters able to wear. unlike these which are melee.
Friend gave me a pair... I stuck 'em on my beastlord... The extra mana is fantastic, not to mention the extra HP for when I decide I'm gonna help the pet beat on stuff. Good stuff really... Glad they expanded the usable classes.
I just purchased these yesterday in the bazaar for 1k. They are Shaman usable so they need to change it on this site. Gonna keep these and sell my coldain. Don't see why anyone would want to spend 3k on coldain when these have same ac, more hp, more mana, and only one less wisdom. My wis is already at 200 so one wis won't hurt me.
Shissar = 40 hp Coldain = 20 + 9*3 (sta, assuming not at cap, and using the priest modifier) = 47 hp
Shissar = 40 + 5*5 (assuming between 200 and 255 in your casting stat) = 65 mana Coldain = 20 + 6*5 (same assumption) = 50 mana
Frankly, the two items are nearly identical. The shift from 15 mana to 7 (ish) hp is negligable either way. For folks (especially shaman, who weren't previously on the Shissar list) who have Coldain Skin ... you aren't earning anything by the change. But, on the other hand, if you're looking for gloves, and can get these for a third the cost of Coldain ... go for it. Regardless, a lot of the cost of Coldain Skin Gloves is the fact that Shissar are not int-caster usable.
The more important factor on pricing is probably that they are not usable by druids. I have noticed that anything that would be good for a druid is usually pretty expensive. They have a pretty easy time coming up with cash 51+
Yes these are now wearable by Shaman, I was in the bazaar the other day saw a pair for 500p figured I would grab them for that price, At the time I bought them I knew they were not shamy wearable, But knew I could make a lil'Coin from reselling them, I banked'em for selling later, ok three days later we get another patch this was last week some time, and I'm about full of stuff to sell, So I'm going threw my junk setting prices, and look at these Gaunt's again imagine my surprize when I found they were now shamy wearable, so long old Guants,
Saw these selling for 1500pp,i jumped on them real quick,because they sounded like a cheap alternative to coldain skin gloves.Unfortunately,like it says,druids can't use them.I was disappointed too,because the guy called them shissar "gloves" so i really thought we could use them.Oh well,back to saving up for coldain skin.

Grey flesh and shissar scale both have pieces that are good for monk and pieces that are good for pure casters, but not in the same set. I use the grey flesh gloves and shissar cloak myself, but i cant use most of the other pieces, nor would I want to.
But Shaman do fight (my average hits are for 90+ against blues) and we also get jumped quite a bit with our mega-taunt debuffs and DoT's.
But besides that, what does not make sense is that a Beastlord is a hybrid based on the shaman class and beastlords cannot where anything more than leather and yet can still wear these. I don't have any problem with not everything being all/all, just this restriction makes absolutely no sense especially for an item that would suit the class so well.
Actually Chitin is a shell and though it may be solid, it is not necessarily plate. Hence Crystal Chitin and several other Chitin type armors are wearable by druids.
