yea the PoG stuff is great but they require long hours... and PoG is not a solo-type zone...plus u have to be like 50+ to go there...these or coldain skin gloves are both great for us pre-planar casters (im a wizard so effect has no use to me)oh an btw on Druz ro server they go for 3k
shattered golem spawns at the ssra temple on one of the walls. he has about 6000-7000 hp... as a 58 druid stacking breath of ro, drifting death, and winged death it took about 3 stacks of each. not sure if he drops these everytime or not as i got them the first time i killed him
[Edit: When I equipped these, Drifting Death [Level 44 DoT] reacted to these gloves. Seems like the effect is 45 and lower spells.]
Let me remind you all that Enchanters have formidable DOT spells as well, not my main choice of gloves( I have hate) but we can DOT with the best of them and I love running around in the deep, charm soloing, if not to keep my skills up. I never had the pleasure of seeing this mob yet.
Everyone thinks that the effect sucks but to me as a necro i love it. I still know lvl 60 necros using 34 spells because of the mana /dmg output and casting time. So this doesn't suck for all of us =D
Just logged in and chacked the grey and the shattered golem and a named shissar up and I got them both...woot! Got the shissar scale headband and the grey flesh gloves in the space of like 20 minutes...the begining of a great day : )
Who gives a rats butt about the effect. They didnt have them at all before so what is the gripe. Now if you were to say something like get coldain skin cuz of more ac, then you have something going. i dont fly without c3 hardly anymore anyway but thats besides the point. Enjoy these if you are not in some snooty guild and can get the firepower together for getting the coldain skin gloves!

I think he meant if you are looking for this focus effect. However, I would get these gloves for their relatively high wis/int vs. difficulty of getting them.
I have gotten about 3 pairs of these gloves (3 different characters looted), and here is a little irony for you. Verant wants to discourage twinking items for you lower level characters, yet they will make something like this item. The level to attain is minimum 50 (i solo'd with my 55 druid and had a pretty hard time) yet the focus effect only applies to spells 44 and below. Now in my opinion the reason they did this is to prevent people from setting up camp and never leaving, but should they trade 1 thing for another? Now they will have people farming them to sell as opposed to just killing once or twice to get a pair and move on.
Yeah, its worthless for the level you can get it. Basically, for all DoT-type spells under lvl 40 it improves somethin about them, either duration, or mana cost, or cast time....something of that type. But the fact is...you can attain them at 50, but only use them for spells under lvl 40. Useless. Thanks Verant =)
Affliction Efficiency means that all health-based DoTs cost 25% less mana. It is an incredible item for Shammies, SKs, and Necros (except that SKs cannot use it). Unfortunately pretty worthless at the level needed to obtain it (as with most Focus 1 and 2 Items). Fortunately they aren't No Drop...

I certainly dont want to start a flame thread, but I am wondering why anyone would sell these to a vendor. Im very serious when I say that I picked these up from a vendor for 7pp. It was a no brainer to buy them, but I really didnt understand why someone would sell them.
Im sure it was a mistake. These gloves look very much like cloth gloves when in the inventory slot..so someone was probably in a hurry and sold them...they werent careful...you got gloves...and that is very lucky for you.
With each item requiring about the same skill level, difficulty-wise, it really comes down to the raw stats of the two items. If AC isn't the top priority on your list, the Grey Flesh Gloves have 5 more mana, and a bonus of 10 to cold resists, which would be perfect addition to a caster trying to get max mana and resists out of their items. Then again, with the loss of 6 AC, and the hitpoints from the 9 STA, it really becomes a matter of "Mana & SV" vs. "AC & HP". But all in all, the two gloves are amazing items in their own respect.
As a wizzy I would definetly go for the grey flesh gloves, it has same int and more mana and save vs cold. I really don't care about ac and sta as I only get hit when I solo and get jumped by a friggin wolf (god I hate wolves). Plus this has awesome dex which just totally rocks for a wizzy. For those of you who haven't learned this yet, dex is important for channeling, and factors into spell crits big time. I once boosted my dex to 174 and crited 7 times in 1 hour with my big nuke, and that made my day perfect.
Just a little rebuttle here for you to think of. On both gloves they have ROUGHLY the same stats. Same int, same HP / MANA (within 5). The difference is when the stamina comes in. 9 stamina @ lvl 65 = 27 HP. So the Coldain skin actually have closer to 50 HP.... not really the advertised 20. We could debate the ten cold, which is nice... however, the buffs wizards get and thier CURRENT stacking abilities with the druid buffs (I have found a way to MAKE them stack) will more than make up for the loss of 10.
As a wizard, I feel the Coldain Skin Gloves are better.
Like you were saying it comes down to sv and mana vs HP and AC. as a necro i have lich up, so for me hp basically IS mana, so i would chose coldain skin over grey flesh
Personally I replaced my coldain skin gloves with the gray skin gloves, I think they are slightly better given the resists. Too similar to argue over though. When Im kiting I will have chloro up and running so I tend to be at full health most of the time so I figured the dex, svc and little extra mana would suit me better. If your more of a melee type (ie beastlord) then the coldin skin would be preferable.
Coldain skin gloves are more going to be superiour all around because of the AC, clerics and shaman especially. Grey Flesh gloves would be nice on things like Vox, but otherwise the Coldain Skin Gloves are giong to be superiour.
I wouldn't expect Coldain Skin Gloves to drop in price too much because of these gloves either. The Coldain Skin Gloves are perfect for the new Beastlord class. 12AC in the hands slot, with the stats it has to boot, are near top of the line for Beastlords.
Yeah, for a wis caster (with the exception of Clerics), the Coldains are better, but for an int caster and clerics, no. At level 30, my necro hasn't touched a mob in melee in 17 levels or so. I certainly haven't tanked in more than that probably the last 20 levels. The only thing more AC means to me is well, nothing. If a caster manages their aggro well, they should never take a hit. It's really that simple. These gloves will not replace the coldains, but are really more situational. If you hunting in velious and are iksar (like me) with a crappy sv cold to begin with, this is a no brainer. If I were in someplace like Karnors or the planes, I would be wearing the coldains. for the just in case situations (nothing like looking throught your bag while getting beat on by something). At the levels you need to be to actually kill for them, you usually have multiple items for most slots because everything becomes situational.
Just some good advice from a 30 Necro with a 60 SK, 59 Warrior, 30 Druid, and 35 Rogue.
Its a hard call, I play on a PvP server and Im torn but not by the +10 cold resist....its the +10 dex thats appealing to me. I use a Withered Totem of Widdershims which procs Malisement which is an awesome proc to have for PvP. My dex is close to 147 and I need to get it past 150 because it appears most of the stats work in threshholds. I know this is true for str, get your str from 75 to 95 wont notice much change. Its when you pass the 100, 150, 200 marks you notice signicant changes in your max damage. Its as the guy above said, its all situational...
well for a druid, it seems that these gloves would be taken over coldain because they cost less and a druid shouldnt ever get hit anyways...so the ac and sta doesnt matter...
These are nice but i think my coldain skin gloves are better however these would be nice to swap for on raids to get the extra cold resist and to avoid a huge drop in wis/mana can the golem in question be rooted and feared? anyone tried it yet?
I don't remember the name of the mob I got these off of, but it's a golem that spawns on the opposite side of the Shissar Temple from the entrance. A something Golem, big gray and ugly. Anyhow, he spawned twice in a row, me and my shaman partner took him down and he dropped these twice. Kinda sucks that he didn't drop anything else.../shrug.
These things have few hit points, only hit in the hundreds, and once slowed may be toyed with as you please.
Does anyone know where and off what this drops? Ill even use these for my 43rd lvl Cleric.Less AC then my Gauntlets of the Black but way better stats :o)..well good hunting and safe yourney to you.
From a Shattered Golem... not sure if he has placeholders but the one we killed was opposite the zone around the Shissar Temple. Kill all the golems you see :)
