Just like everyone else, one word comes to mind: WOW. I am a paladin of the 30th season and a follower of tunare. I do not truely roleplay but I find myself doing it more every time i play. But for this item i would glady kill tunare if it was just a one time said and done thats it kinda deal. However, I dont know if it would be worth the faction hit. Im no where near the lvl to concider this but I will be one day... one day.(It will probably be nerfed by then, BAH)

Okay, once again I must direct your attention to posts made on the official boards two years ago about "balance issues" and how they would "never" bring a weapon live that had greater dmg than dly. This is not the first, but it is definitely the best weapon available to the classes that can use it.
What I can't help thinking is....what the hell is Verant thinking? They lie worse than Bush at an EPA conference. "I will not allow oil drilling in Alaska" = "We will not bring weapons with dmg>dly live"

I'm glad for Pally's and SK's, but I have to say, they need to either just abandon the word 'never' or go back and look it up again.

Killing Nagafen and Vox was the best thing you could do at that time. Mobs didnt have more than 32k HP.. Ykesha short swords were highend weapons.
Please dude get real. Time has changed, stuff with 200k HP is an easy encounter for many guilds.
Also, as you might have noticed, fast 1handed weapons seriously outdamage 2handers. Pre-Velious there was NO 2hander Option for Warriors or Rangers that could compete with Jade Mace / CSS.
Now both weapons were very easy to get, so with velious they added dragons again, (I dont consider Kunark dragons as "New" dragons, besides Trakanon they are just some stuff to play with for people that want to kill dragons but cant do West wing ToV stuff. They dont have own loot tables, they just drop Nagafen Vox loot which was unavialable for people above 52) Trakanon is there, but as we know, he drops robe, BPs and a nice cloak.
With Velious, stuff had more than 32k HP.. stuff was hitting harder than anything known so far (Vindicator quads for 700/pop, delay around 10)
Now going after the Risk vs Reward system, the 1handers that drop of these beasts HAD to be awesome. Wuoshi for example drops a 10/18 which seriously outdamages 2handers again. statue of Rallos zek drops 11/18, Primal 13/20 omg. Not even the raising of 2handed weapons damage bonus a few months ago helped.. 2handed was always 2nd choice.
So NOW Verant finally said that a 2 year old rule about delay > damage, always doesnt work anymore. 2handers like the 31 37 Culler of innoruuk could keep up with other uber weaponary. 31 37 cant keep up with 11/18 CBoLs of a dragon that is considered a warm up for the best 5 guild on a server and a tough fight that is usually won thought for 6-10..
So finally they dropped that rule and made weapon damage higher than delay (needless to say, with 100% haste almost every weapon has higher dmg than true delay anyways, so i dont get your point Fyrewalker)
Maybe we see people using 2handers again soon in ToV / ST / SSra Temple .
Oh and the proc is great. 150 dmg that doesnt get resisted as often as debuffDDs

First, having even one of these exist on a server is quite a feat. There aren't going to be 30 SKs farming Runnyeye with one of these swords each in even the distant future.
Verant is trying to finally balance a game that got out of wack with the release of Kunark with items... Dumb way to do it imo, but SK and Pally melee damage post 51 compaired to every other melee class besides bards was shockingly bad before the melee patch. The guild that is able to get one of these for a member will prob only get that member to the 85% of warrior damage melee wise compaired to guild mates due to the gear they no doubt had to take down Tunare.
To the 1-5 SKs and Pallys per server (and that's being a wide eyed optimist) who loot this someday, this sword roxsors and all, but it's just drooling fodder for most of us.
As for casters, they need some beefing, and I hope that they get it as well.
From what I read, the damage bonus was always there, just not printed for general consumption. I'll tell you from using a wide varity of weapons before and after the patch though, that pre 51 on hybrids they aren't doing any more damage than before. The bonus from what I can tell was always there. It's not like my 35/49 sword is all of a sudden 53/49 because the bonus of 18 is now written on the screen as I've seen many people mistake it to be. It's the same sword doing the same damage, with just more info clutter in the description.

Now that im all cleaned up, id just like to say, if innoruuk dropped some sword better then my epic, im gonna kick his *** so i can be stronger that even him (we know that cant happen but hey, i can dream). Role Play for my SK is more like, if you can get stronger with it, get it. Besides, that SOB innoruuk hates my sorry ***, i might as well worship Mithaniel Marr.

As a paladin this sword makes me wonder why go through Allll... the trouble of getting my fiery deffender all i have to do is kill some tree-hugging chick to get this. Not that im saying it would be easier but less time consuming for a greater reward.
My theory is, and I hope im corect that when Lucilin comes out there will be quest you can do to increase the power on our epic. Fiery deffender + quest pieces = Fiery... "Protector" (or something like that). It will have more ac more stats better ratio and better proc than anything else found anywere. I like the thought in knowing what THE BEST weapon for my class is and setting my sights on that. There is no point in getting your epic if there will be some thing out there like this. Im not complaining this sword exsists I would love it and clean it every day with a diaper, but the feeling of a all powerful epic is like a warm blanket. My 2cp

Lol Droc, you would have to get in Phantom Raiders or Prophecy to even get into that plane much less raid it. Set your sights on it, cuz im after it too. Keep planning those Naggy raids till you get to 60 for this item Droc = )

FYI, only the strongest of all uber guilds can kill her. As far as I know, only a few servers have managed to kill her. I would have to say that getting your epic is less time consuming than getting into an uber guild of this magnitude. For one, they do not let every Tom and Joe into the guild, and second you need to work with them for a long time before they can trust you. You can't just hop in and get phat lewtz.

Thats the old Palladius Axe. New one is 51 dmg 42 delay. Same stats, effect Strike of the Chosen.
And it really depends. Melee stats (Dex/Agi) are going to already be maxed out by someone of the level to get this item. So for a SK/Pal the Flamberge may be better because of the +25 Wis/Int 50 extra mana and 5 higher saves. SvP/SvD aren't really used other than for a few dragons and are easy to buff.

well, the thing is, your not gona have a choice really, if your guild is willing to give the two BEST 2hs in the game, damn i wana be you. the thing is you would be lucky to get either of them so if you got one of em you wouldent be complaning that you dident have the other

man iether of thies weapons are worth the time and effort to attain them, they both have thier benefits and seeming as thier some off the rarest items in anyones inventory they should just build thier stat boosters based upon what thies items don't already give. even as a warrior i would love to wield iether item even if it doesn't have all the warrior necisary buffs purely because of the insane ratios.

I think it would be fitting that a class which gets it powers at the whim of a deity should be stripped of such power if the character's faction with that deity dropped below amiable. Then they would have to perform acts of penance to get back in their deity's good graces. Personally, if a cleric, paladin, druid, or shakdow knight participates in the "killing" of their deity, then for them, that deity should forever be "dead". In other words, "Congratulations, former cleric, as a reward for killing the source of your power, you just became a VERY weak warrior."
I can understand that not everyone wishes to be a role-player, but good grief! There should at least be SOME boundaries of appropriate behavior for classes that are supposed to be paragons or either virtue or vice.)

I play a 58 pally of tunare on povar, and i currently weild Natures defender, and i would kill everyone one of those stupid mobs in pog and tunare to get a weapon like this.

I am glad that neither of you two paladins, and I use that term extremely loosly, are on my server, because if you were, I know that the majority of my high elven brothers and sisters would refuse to group or res you. You want to fight a god? Go kill Cazic or Inny. You want to commit Dieticide, don't be a paladin, because you soil the name and the class.

Stop whining about taunt. The only warriors who complain about taunt are the fewls still using langseax or BABS at lvl 35. The only nonwarriros who complain about taunt are SKs/Pallies with banded at lvl 40, or idiot monks/rogues with 17 dly weapons, or the famous meleeing caster.

The reason rangers and paladins can use this is because no one who can kill Tunare cares about roleplaying anymore.

seriously if u wanna talk RP, a halfling druid would be able to wield a grobb cleaver if he had the STR to pick it up. he just would be terribly inefficient in it's use.
if were up to me, all non-magic weaps would be usable and similarly effective for all classes but magic weaps would lose their enhanced effectiveness (and maybe hit for max dmg of 1) if wielded by improper classes/races. and the holy/evil symbols on certain weaps would burn the wielder's hand if handled by an improper alignment (say the player would take a slight DoT of 5dmg per tick for having it in his hand - depending on the extremity of the imbuement on the weap)

well the gods arnt the real gods they are just avatars of them. so if you killed the gods avatar then in their eyes you would become the best holy warrior they had. i dono just a thought.

PAL/SHD share ALOT of things. the bottom line is that this is a KNIGHT weapon. one is just an evil counterpart to the other. same as cleric of cazic thule can use similar gear as a cleric of tunare.

SK is considered really powerful by his own gods if he conquered something that is holy for them weak Paladins.
one thing is odd tho... that paladins can use it? Paladins should worship this god.. and if they worship something they shouldnt kill it cuz shes considered holy? why would a paladin kill something holy? SKs I can understand if they wanna slay one of their own gods... SKs are evil and evil almost always wants to be greater then absolute anything... even their own god that they should consider beeing the greatest and most powerful thing?

Tunare, just a god High and Half Elves can worship if they choose, most Paladins i know follow one of the Marr Twins or are Erudites and follow Quellious or the other one.

Most everyone's gone the way of "the game is made for leveling and looting", which is really sad. I spend almost 90 percent of my time on whatever server I'm on in RP mode, and you wouldn't believe how frustrating it gets sometimes.

Why must you people be so stupid? sorry, i'm not gonna be nice AT ALL about this. come on...first off, theres the OBVIOUS reason why ranger/paladin/druid things drop off tunare..not all ranger/paladin/druids worship her (i do, however =)
now, on to the second OBVIOUS reason. If you were a disciple of a master swordsman, would you expect the weapon your master uses to be a better version that what you use? Think about it...please, try thinking...it might hurt at first, but you'll get used to it.

...was to be a Delay 41 weapon so it got the additional damage bonus.

Posted: Nov 21 2001 at 8:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) dmg bonus is calculated (by its CURRENT dly and the inspector's class/lvl/skill) EACH time it is inspected. even in trade windows. so the dmg bonus is correct for the weapon's current dly and the char who's screenshot this came from.
