Seems to me it'd only be a miracle if it lasted forever. Anyways, I'd be surprised if you could EAT it from the ranged slot; you can't eat food that's on your cursor, and I doubt you can eat food is an equipment slot.
Correction: You CAN eat food that's on your cursor. Just a few days ago I was holding two eggs on my cursor, getting ready to hand them to another player. I had no other food on me and I was hungry. I watched the '2' turn into a '1' before I handed them over.
Many of you probably already know this: If you have food in the top slot that adds stats keep a regular supply of food also. I do this with my ranger. I constantly eat the other food until I get the full message "You cant possibly eat anymore, you might explode." This way I am always full and I never eat the stat add food that is in my top slot. Especially works well for those of us who can forage our own food. I've had the same piece of food in my top slot for a few levels now.
One of the non-level advancement bonuses being introduced in Luclin is decreased metabolism, ie., you need to eat and drink less. Also, one of the disadvantages of being a Vah'Shir is that you have increased metabolism, ie., you will need up to twice as much food and drink as a human. As far as I know, there has been no investigation by players to the metabolism rates of the currently playable races. I imagine the large races require more sustenance than the medium races, and perhaps the small races do not require as much, but I have not tested this.
All I have ever read about the metabolism of current races and classes is that monks require half as much food as any other class. Other than that I think everybody eats the same amount.
Actually... food and drink consumption is only based on stamina usage. I have tested this theory as well... My Warrior (using a 15.0 2-hander) was consuming his food and a MUCH faster rate than my monk (fists count as 0.0 weapons). Also, being in the desert increases drink consumption 50-100%. The reason large races appear to consume stamina faster is because those characters usually prefer heavier weapons, although maybe they DO eat and drink faster, but I doubt it.
refer to the message above. where he was saying something like monks eat and drink less than all other class's. I could very well see your warrior eating more than your monk if this were true. I would also see the monk eating less food as a reasonably logical fix for monks since they cant carry much weight. Your wieght idea kinda fits in with weapons too. If your character is a warrior, your going to be carrying from 40-100lbs of armor around, depending on the class of armor it is. Youd need a lot of food and water to lug that weight around, not to mention your other luggage. Monks on the otherhand dont carry much of anything around. Everything is so light weight and any coins they get which arent PP or GP are ussually destroyed. So it wouldnt take as much food and water to keep him goin. Im a barbarian warrior and stick to a steady diet of water and iron rations ;) Im too dumb to get my skills up anywhere fast. I buy em at a ratio of 6 stacks of water to 4 stacks of iron rations and they seem to cancle out at a rate such that i can go to town and be just about out of both.
I propose a simple way to check if this becomes your top food item.
Equip as your top food item something with a stat bonus (any bonus), then put the Sandwich in your range slot. If you LOSE the other food item's bonus, then the Sandwich is now your top food item.
I Bake my own food (very fond of Fish Rolls); this is the first food I've seen with the "miraculous!" tag. I wonder... could it be bottomless food? Wishful thinking, I know :)
On a nearly related tangent: try picking up some Fuzzlecutter Formula 5000 from Ping Fuzzlecutter in WFP - they are "an enduring drink", and have been outlasting my "banquet" Fish Rolls! A mere 5pp/stack.
Okay I guess the question is does the game consider the range slot to be above or below the rest of your inventory. If you put it in the range slot is it safe from being eaten until you run out of food?

There's a good chance that the game is made so you won't eat food that is equipped... of course it's better if that's not the case if a "miraculous meal" means everlasting... which is quite unlikely i guess.
