Make impressions of the elepahnt's tusk ring. (need 5)
Kill 10 Froglok ton warriors.
Make impressions of the forglok ton warrior head patterns(need 2)
Deliver the impression book to an artisan of your race.
The elephants are in the lowere east area of South Karana. The Ton Warriors are randomly in upperguk. Found most of them around 1000, 10, -80.
The impressions are definitely random and you need the book on your preson for them to trigger.

I got this quest from Bill Whistlestop, in Rivervale (Halfling armor) after asking him, " what cultural symbol patterns" . I believe it the first of the quests. You receive the Blessed Impression Book.
Chores are:
Kill 20 Pickclaw goblins.
Make impressions of the pickclaw anklets (need 5)
Kill 10 crag spiders.
Make impressions of the crag spider carapaces (need 2)
Deliver the impression book to an artisan of your race.
I got the "Blessed Book of Halfling Culture".
Making impressions seems to occur randomly - nothing specific looted, nothing to do with the book. From the comments made earlier, I guess I was lucky I had it on me.

Yes, you must carry it with you to make impressions.. something that has caught out some people (who had stuck it in the bank). I have detailed this gotcha in the quest descriptions.
However, note that the impressions books are actually explicitly designed to REDUCE what you have to carry in inventory. Note that each Impressions tasks requires killing two mob types. Rather than collect two drop types per task, you just have to carry the one book.
