Ice of Velious seems to hold its chill in the most magical way, but it does have its limits. After a single use the cold will have left it. Despite these limitations, you can still make ice with it. Using an ice cream churn, one ice of velious
and two flasks of water can make twenty pieces of ice that can then be used in a variety of ways, even for making ice cream. You will need two bits of this ice to replace a single ice of velious, but it will work. Although it does mean that for some recipes you may have to churn it multiple times to get the correct
consistency.
Ice of velious can be improved using the skills one has learned in spell research by using a dihedral burin to etch a rune of frost, which you must also include, into the ice of velious. Fill the etchings with Ink of E'ci and use a vial of viscous
mana to bind it all. You will find that using one of these with six flasks of water will generate a much larger amount of ice. Unfortunately creating this ice will still drain even this enhanced ice of velious of its cold.
Working with a gnome friend of mine, we came up with a
device that will stay perpetually cold. Press an enhanced ice of velious into enchanted electrified copper, and connect a class six mana battery to the positive pole and dark matter to the anti-positive pole of the enhanced ice of velious using a bundle of superconductive wires. Fit this all in a class six
battery casing before the cold starts to freeze your fingers.
Use this device with six flasks of water and you will make even more ice than with just an empowered ice of velious, and you will find that it will be perpetually cold. Be careful with the device as
you can get frostbite if you hold it in your hand too long.
