Excerpts from a burnt journal.
After my last interaction with the combine I decided that I should get this in writing. Something I have done has made them uncomfortable. The combine act like they need help but then for some reason they became paranoid. I do not
| understand it yet, but maybe I will after some time.
I think I have only scratched the surface of what can be done with these energeian they are speaking of. The basis of items made with it use something they call conduit. They make this conduit by
|
| melting some very pure metal with an element I have yet to be able to identify. While it is still warm, they take this... I guess I would call it alloy, though that does not really fit because the substance is not a metal, and alloy is different combination of metals. The substance is
| closer to gemstone, though even that does not quite fit correctly. But I digress. While it is still warm, they form the alloy into a long tube that seems to help the energy pass through the item into which it has been integrated. While I have seen them making the conduits in jewelry kits, I believe
|
| that the supplies needed can also be found in a toolkit.
They weave this conduit into various forms suitable for different pieces of equipment. The cap and cylinder shapes can be made using only one piece of conduit. The sandals, gloves, sleeves, web and
| small core patterns need two conduits, while the leggings, shirt, and large core need three conduits.
Once the conduits have been shaped, they can then be carefully intertwined into weapons and armor made by those with the appropriate skill. This is delicate work, so it can be more
|
| difficult than some equipment of similar workmanship, but despite that, it seems to make a very high quality piece of equipment. Tailors can make cloth and leather armor, while smiths can make chain and plate armor, along with a kite shield and a few weapons. Fletchers can make a bow,
| and people with knowledge of spell research can make an ornamental wand.
They make the armor using the appropriate amount of silk swatches, leather hide, chain swatches, or metal sheets along with the appropriate pattern or mold. The amount is proportionate to the
|
| amount of conduits needed for each piece. Additionally, tailors will need thread, and smiths will need armor padding. They made the kite shields using a conduit web and three metal sheets in a kite shield mold.
The weapons seemed a bit more complex, but one thing
| was consistent: If it needed one hand to wield, it used a small core, while if two hands were needed it used a large core. They used the following when they made each: Short Blade: Short blade mold, leather hide, and metal sheet. Long Blade: Great sword blade mold, leather hide,
|
| and two metal sheets. Hammer: Hammer Head Mold, small wood haft, and metal sheet. Maul: Large Head Mold, large wood haft, and two metal sheets. Dagger: Dagger Blade Mold, leather hide, and metal sheet. Spear: Broad Spear Blade Mold, leather hide, and two
| metal sheets. Claws: Claws mold, leather hide, and metal sheet. Bow: Silk string and a bow stave. Wand: A wooden wand and either a bloodstone, star rose quartz, or peridot.
What I have not yet figured is the exact nature of the silk, leather, and metal
|
| they are using, nor how they make the energeian.
