Depends on your situation as well. The FBSS doesn't have any stats besides the haste, so your waist slot is providing nothing else. Depending on the economy of your server, you may be able to get more AC/HP/Stats/Resists by going with the SCHW and using the waist slot for something else, or vice-versa.
I tend to read this site alot for equipment and everytime the subject turns to haste there is alot of disagreement. Soo, I thought i would share these 2 links i found by going to Google and searching "everquest haste"... ;)

Blacktoe Stubdit <Iron Legends> 37th Season Rogue of Rodcet Nife
Okay, I am NOT asking for u guys to flame me first of all, this is simply my opinion and advice on the SCHW.
First, I am a warrior, and this is warrior based. The SCHW has better haste and stats, as compared to FBSS with barely lesser haste and no stats. This may seem like a good deal, but lets think. You are a warrior, this 10ac is nice, but SCHW wastes a GREAT slot, cobolt guants are 25ac, if u get FBSS u already have 15 more ac and a little less haste, for pretty much the same price.
We also have to consider though, that you can get a SCHW for 4.5k or so, and then a TBB, for good ac and str in wasit slot, combined with ac and stats of SCHW. This is good, for quite a bit of pp though. It works great, for a period of time, but good guants are more common than a good wasit item.
So in the end it's your preference, FBSS and cobby guants (or cc for 1k more) for anywhere between 4.5k to 6k, or the SCHW for little less ac and better stats for more money. Long term and cheaper, plus FBSS is commonly sold, I personally reccomend the FBSS.
Once more, my information may be a little off, I may be wrong on some things. Don't flame me, I am trying to help everyone out with a suggestion. YAAAAAAAAAR!
to be quiet honest i dont think these are really meant for a tank of any kind really you are correct in your preferance of colbys and fbss over this
but as a rogue i am in dire need of haste items and i have a relatively good belt that i dont want to surrender to a haste item so i want to find a goos slot item that will do it for me so these will probly do me good for quiet some time or until i can afford bigger and better but for a non plate wearer these seem to be great alot of monks and rogues are scraping thier cp to get a pair and i for one am with them and i think on vallon zek atm the fbss its maybe 1k less at the most and it is still 1.8k
I have had these for 30 lvls...saved all my money way back when and bought them in EC...along with a few things my chanter made... paid 500pp plus two +6 wis rings..what a deal...still wear them alothough looking to upgrade soon..

FBSS is bullsh!t and always will be. it should be sold for ****** 20 plat...it's a ****** gay item...nuff said. ****** a...
Actually there are a couple of exceptions to the statement "haste items do not stack," from the above post.
Celestial Tranquility (monk epic) will stack with "higher end haste spells".
The Monk Discipline 100 Fists (lvl 57) will stack with Item Haste AND Spell/Song Haste.
Melody/Composition of Ervaj and Battlecry/Warsong of the Vah Shir will stack with any ONE other Song OR Spell Haste and ONE Item Haste, reportedly allowing the haste cap to be broken.
I am on mith mar and used to get SCHW for 4-5 k I got hacked and lost all my gear. Tried to by another pair and they are up to 8-9 k now. I think every one is to frigging greedy! yes it has stats but Think about it how much would you pay for a item with same stats minus the haste? Add that to aprox caust of fbss I dont get 9k I feel 6k AT most
On Bertoxxulus, FBSS goes for 3k now, and this item still goes for the 5-7k it used to. Know why? It goes in your hand slot. How many hand slot items do monks get? If you aren't using gem inlaid gauntlets, you're using planar gear or your epic, or maybe treant fists if you're a human. Haste is slightly less than an FBSS, sure, but there are a million different waist slot items for a monk (i.e. spider fur belt...what can you find comparable to that in the hand slot that isn't planar?).
ok, so i guess you can lay the whole arguement to waste by saying:
"it ALL depends on your particular case. A warrior has different needs than a monk, or shadowknight, and all have different opportunities/combos as per their class."
You know..I've been thinking..particularly with regards to monks
why would you pay 5K for a haste item that you're going to end up stop using as soon as you get your epic, when u can buy a FBSS for 3-4K, and it stacks with the celestial Tranquility...
Well, there are a few reasons: 1) SCHWs have a little bit more haste than FBSS. 2) FBSS has *zero* stats, not even ac. 3) Since the SCHWs are a little better, they are worth more than an FBSS. SCHW 5-6k, FBSS 3k (The Rathe) 4) When the monk gets his or her epic, the monk can sell the SCHWs toward a better haste item for a different slow (cloak, belt, ect.).
This is of course for a monk, hence the celestial tranquility effect on epic... I know my rogue's Ragebringer will not have that effect if and when I get it :-)
OK, here is my guestion, the description of Haste is as follows... "Increase Attack Speed for between 2% (L1) to 50% (L49)." With that said, can a item with haste as the effect have diffrent levels of haste? It seems to me its based on level of the person wearing the item and not the item itself. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks is advance... *Happy owner of these fine hand wraps*

Posted:Jul 04 2002 at 11:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You would think after all this damn fighting over if haste increases overall hits or lowers delay on weapons or whatever has been said, was done. You would think ppl would have learned something...
Gegolian you are just the kind of egotistical idiot that this game doesnt need. His question was a legitimate one, especially if he is relatively new to the game. A time you apparently forgot.
Yes, the consensus IS that the SCHW run around 22% but the question of whether an item CAN have haste that varies with your level is a valid one, certainly when someone who is new reads the posts and they say one thing and clicks on the link to the Haste effect and it seems to say something that doesnt exactly mesh.
Try being helpful for a change. Or at the very least dont post, something that will likely be very helpful.
You are an idiot. With your incessant flaming of someone who asked a simple question, you have only lowered yourself to the level of that which you are flaming. Instead of being an ignorant *******, answer his question or shut the hell up.
he has a viable question, for all we know he could have just started playing, unlike you. also some items have level dependant haste that is also permante...ie..veluim swiftsword which max's at 40%
Don't think so but I will test that out. I am always hearing different haste numbers in the auction channel so I decided to take the haste items that my mage can wear and test them out. SCHW, FBSS, and the Swiftclaw Sash. Mage can use them all and gets NO special attack bonus..ie double attack, dual wield..etc just straight swinging.
Ok I have finished with my own testing and I have come up with a slightly different version of things. Not sure why but I did it 3 times and it came up the same all three times. Level 54 mage so I know he gets maximum haste from each item. He has no specials on his 1HB so it is just 1 swing, dly, 1 swing..etc. First off the haste items did NOT stack. When the SCHW were equiped neither the FBSS or the Swiftclaw changed anything. Looks like it uses the fastest haste item you have equiped.
The final numbers that I came up with were Swiftclaw Sash 16% FBSS 21% SCHW 25%
I know this goes against common lore but I don't see how it is wrong. Flame away if you want but try to explain how the original numbers came into being and if they have been checked recently.
Great, thanks for the feedback. BTW, if you define haste as the reduction in delay (which I do), my test on the Swiftclaw Sash matched yours exactly, 16%.
Couldn't run the stack test myself. Had to sell my Sash first to afford the SCHW:)
Actually , haste does allow for your special kicks reuse time to shorten as does slow make the reuse time take longer . With slow you'll really notice a difference. And I know for Rogues , haste increases there backstab reuse time . I noticed that with my rogue when he wasnt able to use his hide skill at the same time as his backstab . I have a hotkey for hiding before I backstab and with out haste I can use hide at the same time , and with haste it takes hide a little longer to cycle.
Well on Rodcet Nife these are still 4.5-5k. I have been shopping for weeks for my monkey and I have had the opportunity to buy 4-5 times but always at around 5k. Sellers not interested in what web prices are and I couldn't get any of them to come down even 500pp. As one guy put it a 22% haste item WITH 10 AC and all those sv's. Comparable haste is the FBSS and it has NO AC or stats. I finally caved and paid the 5k. Cleric is gonna have to do some rezzin to make some cash now.
This item has new stats on Veeshan. Theya re now AC10 STR3 DEX3 AGI3 all SV+3, same WT and Haste%, they currently sell for 8-12k+ depending on how greedy the person is.
Try this combo i recently traded my fbss for a the schw. Yes i was worried about AC being i am a 55war. So after doing some serching i decided to go with SCHW and the 20ac 15 str 15wis belt the drops in ME. i forget the name of it but.. Being my fbss and my cobalt guants equaled 25 ac plus some haste. The Belt combo and th SCHW have haste plus 30AC and 18str 15 wis 3 agi 3 dex and 3 to all saves. the plus higher ac and more stats. i think they area great combo.

Ha VORC! Finally got your Wraps eh? heh... And yes, 4K is a steal - It's almost theivery for this item now. Makes FBSS look like a fancy piece of toilet paper.
