It took about 15 min on a Druid with 200 fishing, 206 with Brell's Fishin' Pole 3% modifier.

Ok for prob the gazzillionth time ...... SoE random number generator subroutine (which if i am not mistaken is made by microsoft) is very streaky. I have yet to not see any kind of RANDOMNESS to it.... Ill either fail 50 times in a row adn then succed 10 times in a row...or i will come in a zone cast my rod and get what i am after on the first attempt. It does NOT matter where u are in this zone. You have the same CHANCE to catch this at all times. Caught 3 on pier by translocator within 10 minutes of zoning in...had spent 4 hours the other night there and got zilch
I got a cutlass cod with skill of 3. Never had much use for a pole till I started 7th shawl quest. ;)

i had about 30 attemts fail near the port in spot befor i moved to the small islands and got a cutless on the second try

I'm 200 in Fishing and have been for some time. I've never seen anything that leads me to believe that location within a particular zone has anything to do with the chance of catching anything.
I have no numbers to back me up, but that's been my experience.

Did not find a whole lot of information on these, so I'm posting my experience in the hopes that it will help other people out. I started out approx /loc n5625, p9025 just south of the bridge suggested in a previous post. I had six regular fishing poles and four stacks of catch-a-lot bait. Starting skill was 56. I did not know about roamers in this area of the zone so cast levitation on myself and headed out over the water to be "safer".
- Caught my first Cutlassfish at 17 minutes - skill 76.
- Caught second at 30 minutes - skill 86
- Caught third at 35 minutes - skill 90
Read somewhere you needed around a 130-140 fishing skill to catch these. This has either been nerfed or is just not true.
All totaled: 35 minutes
5 sandals
11 rusty daggers
11 fresh fish
6 salty something fish (forget the exact name)
3 Iceclad Cutlassfish
used 44 pieces of bait
1 broken pole
34 skill points

With 200 skill, I've found that the fishing rates vary drastically, no matter where you fish. My most classic example wa the night I thought that dexterity was the key when I was singing (bard 63) my dexterity song by happenstance and fished over 100 Storm Salmon out of the zonein point to Plane of Storms in the same time it took to fish 25 on the previous night. The following night in the same amount of time I only managed to fish out about 45. In all 3 cases I was maxed out in fishing skill, using the same bait and fishing pole. I tried again tonight with dex song and got over 75 in same time period. IMHO it's just luck. However, skill does play a big part if you are not maxed out. There are simply some things you cannot fish with low skill, and with high skill as well. It's almost impossible for me to get fish scales in most places that I used to get them if there are specialty items available.
had pretty good luck just south of the giant bridge to EW. small sheltered valley along the shoure, vicinity N5659, 8906, sort of like a finger cove. Had no wandering mobs stumble on me there either.

I think it has to do with the location too, was in middle of the zone, at evac spot and didn't get anything, then I moved to eastern isle and got a few pretty fast.

Dunno, but at fishing lvl 110, with common pole and catch a lot of bait. I caught 3 cutlass in 10 mins.
I went all the way to the eastern most tip island in Iceclad, not sure if location has something to do with it, but maybe I was lucky?
So far the fish I've caught:
Fresh Fish
Salty White Fish
Iceclad Cutlass Fish
All basically the same frequency in catch.

after about 150 attempts (fishin skill at ~72) i finally caught it!
