The dagger only is dropped by few mobs and in a specific location. look around in the zone until you happen to find a well, drop down and follow the cavern until you hit a path on the right, when there, take the fork to the left and pow, the mobs you need (after this using the "Origin" AA in your window by pressing V, it'll get you out in a pinch)
Dagger of Marnek dropped late 2004 off of Priest Amiaz. Strange as it seems, this priest was wearing plate armor and I suspected he was a Shadow Knight.
I went into befallen and right to the preist and the other mob ( I forget how to spell her name ) first drop was the dagger and the chipped bone rod. Easy pickings.
I tried for hours after they turned befallen into a higher level zone and it never dropped. They have fairly recently returned befallen to its origional state and i just looted it 3/13.
I've had this dagger since August of 1999 when at level 6 a lvl 50 gnome cleric named Nogg gave it to me. Don't know what the camp is like, but intel and mana in range is good to have.
A guildie just got this out of Befallen the other night and gave it to me for my necro. Not sure of the rarity but he wasn't even in there camping it so good luck to all you monks.
what droped this weapon according to monkly-business and eqatlas its droped off of a thaumaturgist. i was just at the camp for a few hours with no luck. If u are on druzil ro server and have one and want to sell it let me know i'll make ya a deal on it. Or if u have any info on it let me know thx
does this item even drop anymore since they just changed befallen? i mean come on monks need this item for robe of the lost circle which eventually leads to monk epic...i can imagin verant being stupid enough to take it out of the game though after all it is verant...
Saw this for sale by a mercahnt in the Rivervale rogue guild, of all places. Wish I knew it was for this quest; I would have bought it. I've seen it auctioned in WC and EC, so it must still drop.
At 40 I finally upgraded away from the dagger of Marnek that was given to me long ago when I was a young'n in s karana. I'm an Erudite, so I can get by with not too much int on my items. The bonus I need is mana.
And of course it's not just a range item; you can actually wield it, as I had been doing ever since I got my crystalline eye.
Got to admit this is a nice INT object. Fits nicely in the range slot for us Necro's. I picked mine up for 13pp. Next to doing the quest in Qeynos for the INT earrings, INT was never so cheap.

-I agree with tmetcalf....- Um, wrong answer... I'm sorry. You've been disqualified. I've had one on my necro since level 6, and always carried in my range slot (Walrus tooth in primary, Harvester in secondary, and DoM in range).
Interesting to read that as it is currently sitting in my ranged slot at the moment. I even take it out and melee with it at times when my spells won't land, or I'm oom, and am able to put it right back. But since you said it can not be put in the range slot without telling us that you probably play a class that can't use it, I guess I'll have to not put it in my ranged slot anymore. Right.
Rovylern Shadeclaw Broodling of Kotiz for 30 moltings (30th level necro for you sssoft-ssskinsss ;) ) Leezard of Death in Orion's Honor Inhabitant of Brell
You are mistaken. It can be used by 2 classes; by necros as a +3 int range slot item...
AND by monks to obtain their purple headband. I know a monk that would pay ya 100pp so he doesn't have to go down to Befallen at level 40 and kill greenies while newbies complain, in an effort to get the Thaumaturgist to spawn so he can get his purple headband so he can get his Robe of the Whistling Fists, so he can....
Sorry but this price is right as it is a realativly easy item to obtain and can only be used by 1 class this creates a limited market therefore bring the price down i know i bought mine for 30 pp
This is basically the same stats as a students homework, except for the 10 save vs magic on the homework. True it is necro only, but necro is a popular class. Camping thaumaturgist is a royal pain. rare spawn, with multiple possible spawn points, have to clear the whole room (3 spawns), not just one spawn. I would have never bothered to do this camp, except that I was caming Gynok for the paw of oppala. I saw the Thurmaturgist 2 times in about 7 hours. He dropped this twice, along with 2 different crappy robes. In contrast, I was in a group clearing the library in ToFS, and the angry librarian popped twice in less than one hour, and dropped the homework both times (too bad, I wanted the syllabus).
Befallen was empty when I did my camp, so I camped everything. All the SKs, the Thaumaturgist, Gynok, and was hoping for the priest, for a monk friend. Ended up with the chipped bone rod, 2 sets of barbed armplates and legplates, 2 daggers of marnek (yes I know they are lore, I camped my necro at the zone and transferred one), some crappy 2 ac ring, and two plat rings (again one on the necro, although this time, I had help from a friendly druid (who had showed up to PL a lvl 7 pally) who held the ring while I switched chars). Made the Gynok camp a lot more bearable (the second ring is for a friend, who's questing the paw with me, not to farm).
