With the changes over the years, if you give this to a pet your pet will proc it still. However, the proc will not mez the mob but it will memblur, seemingly 100% of the time. There's probably some use for this weirdness.

Back in the day, just after kunark came out. My brother duo'd phinny with a wizard and a bard. Literally timed mez to land just after the nuke and on resists he would melee with this until his song mez landed or he procced mez. Since phinny had mana left, he would often try to cast and not melee.

It took a while but it stunned so many people to see a raid mob killed by a bard and wiz.

Dropped from a bottomless devourer on Lockjaw today. Wondering if this is one of the many, apparently, zonewide drops.

Confirmed unresistable at any level by players or mobs.

Upon proc it will say "soandso cannot be mesmerized by this spell", but on your next swing it will say "soandso has been awakened by soandso". If you time your attack right, any mob/player will be left mezzed for a few seconds.

Great for interrupting casters, especially with fierce eye aa (300% proc chance modifier) and jonthan's (self haste, 100% proc modifier) for a total of 400% proc modifier.

Love them, have them set up on my bandoleer for quick access to a stun. Just put them on at 20-35% of target's health to get the interrupts off (pretty much gauranteed to go off), then switch back to main weaps for the kill.

I have a lvl 70 bard with 700 AA that LOVES this weapon. Just bought a second one today to use in offhand. When I have a mob that casts I just pop my bandolier slot which has these two babies and start chain mezzing WHILE i'm bashing on the mob and it can't get a damn thing cast. Very nice to have those extra procs here and there on top of the chain mezzing since sometimes mobs will get a spell off with mez resists and even between mez casts. These are especially useful against named mobs that cannot be mezed. I have interrupted RSS named mobs with just one of these things. Can't wait to see how effective it is with two. Bottom line is this is a must have for a high lvl bard that is fighting against a lot of casting mobs.

Not Useless
# Apr 22 2004 at 1:29 PM Rating: Decent
I have been using this as a secondary weapon now for approximately 4 weeks in LDoNs and while I am not quite sure of the stats, generally get mezz's on this an average of 2 - 4 times per mob not using any other mezz tools.. This also increased blunt skill from 17 all the way up to my current 180 so I disagree that it is useless...It is true it may be related to level as I am level 54 bard. It was also pretty spendy at 1K in bazzar on Stromm
Mage Enhancement
# Mar 01 2004 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
I believe that the best use for this item would be to give it to a pet. If a group doesn't have a mezzer but needs the CC, have the pet tank until the weapon procs. Then the pet will stop attacking and could then move on to the next.

It might seem like a waste of an 11/23 weapon but the only time I would use it was if I were solo in melee. Otherwise the proc could be more harmful than helpful. Maybe SOE should make this NO RENT and mage summoned. :)
useless
# Jan 12 2004 at 10:00 AM Rating: Decent
Usless 1% memblur lol you would have to proc it few hundred times in 1 battle to be any use.

As for mez part its lvl based by the time you hit 20's this this would be usless.

I don't think this proc is much good to stop casters. I can get a mez off in just over 3 seconds, but it's not likely I would get a proc off in that same timeframe. The real usage for me is to walk around POK with lute of the howler in main hand and this in secondary making me look like the only bard that can play two lutes at once.
The real reason
# Sep 21 2003 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
The real reason you want to use this has very little to do with agro. As others have pointed out, agro-wise it's very dangerous.

The reason you use this is that mez is one of the ways you interupt casters, and while it would be messy for the chanter to mez late in the fight (I've seen it done) a bard could swap this in just as the cleric mob is hitting low health and about to complete heal. Proc mez and then swap it back out, having given the party 10 seconds to kill the mob before it can CH again. Very nice.

"a bard could swap this in just as the cleric mob is hitting low health and about to complete heal. Proc mez and then swap it back out"

Remind me...how do i get a weapon to proc on my command?...........pretty silly expectation if u think this will proc when u need it to.

Perfect duel wield.
# Jul 12 2002 at 9:50 PM Rating: Default
Perfect duel weild with this. Harmonic dagger 10/21 (procs 50dd plus 3 second stun), and this. 11/23 (procs stun and mem wipe) Personally, I have a hangup about believing that the secondary weapon is dependent on the primary, thereby meaning that the secondary has the opportunity to attack once per each hit of the primary, and cannot attack again untill it's delay time has expired, therefore, I would use this (11/23) in the primary, and the harmonic in the secondary (10/21). My theory is this, the primary and secondary will hit, the primary will once again hit after it's 21 delay is over, however, the secondary will still have another 2 delay points left to wait, and therefore will be forced to wait another 19 points of the primary before it can attack, meaning the secondary will not always have the opportunity to attack each and every time the primary does. Granted, they might be independent of one another, however, untill I find out whether that is definately true or not, I do not plan on putting the lower delay in primary. =P

I used to have this same "hangup". But go put a lightstone in your primary hand and check it out.

the two are independent of each other and based upon the delay. The secondary will swing based upon your duel wield skill; it is not dependent upon your primary.

Switch the your two weaps between primary and secondary and see which one gives higher ATK.

Lets say for example, group of 4. Cleric, Wizard, Warrior, Bard. The warrior and bard are in melee - and the wizard overnukes, and then starts running, the mob chases, beating the wizard down, an the wizard is out of range of the cleric's heals... (fairly common situation).

The bard however, is using this weapon, it procs - the hate list is wiped - the tank who is attacking, taunts the monster fairly easily now.. its forgotten about the wizard, and only remembers the Bard - and the warrior who is tearing it apart. it might hit the bard for a moment, but no more on the wizard. As a matter of a fact, if this weapon is procing often, the wizard would never have to worry about overnuking and attracting the mobs attention.

Just one situation for this weapon.
RE: example of use
# Dec 05 2002 at 4:01 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, if hate was wiped a second before the wizard nukes, shaman/enchanter slows, or something does some other high aggro thing, the caster will be dead before the warrior can get aggro back.

All the mob will know is the warrior hit him a couple times and the wizard just hit for 2500 or so. I'll give after the wizard.

Mem blur is nice if you aggroed a mob you didn't mean to, or you've built up aggro on a mezzed mob, or someone who isn't suppose to have aggro has it. But if your warrior is doing a good job of holding aggro, mem blur will just mess things up.
RE: example of use
# Nov 21 2003 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, but what the guy said was that this weap is good for getting agro off a caster who has already grabbed it, and he's right... I've seen a *lot* of casters die due to their nukes. Even warriors with Taunt maxed out, and using very fast proccing weaps can have trouble holding agro after a multi-K-hp nuke.
dual wieldable
# May 24 2001 at 11:39 AM Rating: Default
nice item. Love the proc, and its dual wieldable. Anyone know if it requires a high CHA to get it to stick, or is the proc independant of the wielder's stats?
Maybe its time for me to stop neglecting that 1hb skill.
Proc starts at....
# May 19 2001 at 6:31 PM Rating: Decent
The proc on this starts at 50, and it has to be one of the best procs around, it has saved many clerics and nukers in my groups, pulls the mob off of them automaticly, and clears them to heal and nuke again without danger of getting jumped on. I know many 55+ bards that wont trade this for anything, they may get better weapons to solo with but this will always be in there hand for groups.
RE: Proc starts at....
# May 19 2001 at 6:35 PM Rating: Default
Oh yeah, they can also be duel wielded, stops casters cold everytime.
Why a bard would use this
# May 15 2001 at 2:40 PM Rating: Default
To get all the kills on raids of course. Not that its needed though. The group with the bard (who knows what their doing) will get most of the kills. This only insures that the expis goign to the right group :P.
