Told ya Id get it =) Took almost a year but its MINE! 15 person Inny raid, grats Drunken Tsunami on there first Inny raid it was a success with only one death and it was an absolute thrill to say the least =).
Samthin 60 Grandmaster TT Sillipuss Battlechanter 58 Beguiler TT p.s. I still hate Verant, 200 hours up there and no Vamp essence =/
OMG what with Imbued Granite Spaulders not being for gnomes, same with Treeweave, Hero Bracer, Validus Custodus (sp?), etc etc I am so glad they put this ring in; the gear life can get so hard playing gnome warrior sometimes. Hmm time to lead some Hate raids... this makes me feel so much better now :)
Well, obviously Hero Bracers aren't going to be for gnomes. It says 'Hero' right in the name. Only heroes can wear them, so gnomes are right out. Don't feel bad though, dwarves like me can't be heroes either.
I play a gnome enchanter, and look for the following stats in an item. Cha first, then int, then HP, then AC, then mana, this beauty has all 5 and one hell of an AC to boot. The second best ring AC wise is 10. I would take on Inny with nothing but a RTS and a Gossimer robe if I thought for one second I would get this ring. Of course that second is as long as Ill last against him, but Im sure you get the point.
I love the ring. But, the stats do seem more geared for races that have true hybrids. But, I might like this on a Cleric or Necro... More the cleric though.

Ogres are not rare, along with barbarians and trolls they are the only tank that can bash without a shield. Plus they are one of the most appealing choices for a warrior or SK because of their high strength, duh! =P Anyways Verant is not trying to reward any race higher than the other, thats not how they work. To make people want to play one race/class as much as another Verant makes the less appealing race/class better or more appealing... At least thats what they try to do
It seems these "race only" items from Inny are a reward for playing a rare race. For example, the gnome and ogre items (Earring of Bashing: Wt 0.10. +5 AC, +8 Str, +8 Wis, +5 vsMg, +5 vsFire, +5 vsCold, +5 vsPos, +5 vsDis) are very nice...while the wood elf (Hotof's Bracer: Wt 1.00. +10 AC, +10 Str, +10 Wis, +10 Cha, +15 vsFire, +15 vsCold) and high elf items (Ring of Pureblood: Wt 0.10. +3 AC, +5 Str, +5 Wis, +5 Int, +5 Cha, +30 HP, +30 Mana) are okay, but not that great.
Just a subtle way to reward those that choose a rarer race than wood elf or high elf.
Since my main is a barbarian, I'm pretty pleased with our item:
The resists are very nice, but the AC and wis is equivalent to the easy to attain Flayed Turmoil Skin belt, not a bad item at all, just not stellar like the gnome drop or a nice AC/wis increase in a spot that doesnt have a lot of options like the Ogre earring.
I would say trolls are a little more rare than barbies, check out their belt:
Unless I am reading this wrong, the Ogre drop is an EARring... 5 AC on an earring, plus those stats, makes for a very nice item indeed. 20 AC on a ring is, admittedly, pretty darn exceptional, but VI seems to be very willing to put high AC's on rings lately.

If you compare norrath's time flow, to earth's I think you will notice it takeing a good bit longer (relatively) to get this item than to get an academic award, which (in my understanding) is always rewarded if you know your trade and pass all the tests (you dont have to spend 3 more relative years getting it to drop and succeeding at a random) just my 2 cents, and the gnome cand even engineer a hole in a wall even if they specialize in hurling destructive energy, so who's is better?
A gnome only ring called an Engineers Ring? HUZAH and KUDOS!!! This just screams that someone was thinking. They are the Engineers of Norrath, and this makes TOTAL sense!
And before you hit submit on the flames, I don't even have a gnome character. 8)
