Hello Guys,
I'm not sure if this is helpfull, but they drops {Corrupted Sunshards} nerely every 2nd to 4th mob i killed in The Umbral Plains. I got 16 in like 30 min's. True you can get Add City there but if you stay close to Zone line np.
Just thought i'd help.

absolutely. they seem to spawn quickly there, and lesser sunshards are a huge improvement over minors in the other obvious zones (like field of bone). rathe mountains is my favorite zone to hunt sunshards in.
easiest way i found was killing mobs that dropped the lesser shards. granted you need to collect 64 of them to make 16 corrupt shards (to get the 4 greater, than the purified one), but easier kills, more drops. i finished this entire task in maybe 4 hours altogether, if that. i killed the skells, mummies, and vampires in iceclad, they were one nuke kills for me at 72, and they dropped 1 every 4 or 5 mobs. i can track (but poorly as a druid) so that made it easier for me, but i never had to leave the island with the dragon ring and i most often passed 1 or 2 on the way to the one i was tracking so combing the area would be easy and productive, imo. just a tip for those who are having a hard time with the drop rate on the mobs in the higher level zones... take it or leave it but hope it helps someone...

What a crappy reward for so much time. Have the devs ever played this game? 10% slow... 36 secs... 5 min refresh... god this sucks...
I wouldn't mind having a 10% slow, even for 36 seconds. The mummies are always aggroing me anyway, and if you kill the ones in the newbie zones, you'll get 64 (eventually) as a matter of course. Then it is just a matter of doing the turn-ins. And theoretically, this quest is doable at level 1. They didn't have to make this quest. If you don't like it, don't do it. It's like complaining that someone only gave you $10 and not $50.

/agree What a piece of crap. Sony has lost their minds again. Lets put undead all over Norrath so people can waist their time on this stupid piece of junk. I don't care what any ones says, 10% slow undead only for 36 secs is useless on any mob.
it's an all/all slow. it's also unresistable. it is far from useless. i use mine on undead raid mobs until the shaman can get a good slow to land, and on certain raid mobs nothing will land, period. but this will. and those particular mobs hit hard enough that the tank will GLADLY take the 5% (after partial mitigation) difference.

OK I have the Purified shard.

I had all exspansions thru POR and tried to get the task. I followed the thread for the npc in POK. Went to Butcherblock and followed thread there. Got the "I cant give you this task" message..I payed for the TSS exspansion. Logged back on and went back to BB and recieved the tasks. So you must need TSS.

Solar Torpor is an unresistable 36-second slow, undead only. It will not stack over other slows. However, it can be used by anyone to temporarily slow an undead target until a real slow lands.
This has two major applications: slowing a hasted mob, thus reversing its haste effect; and slowing an excessively resistive undead mob. Say you had a raid force loaded with these clickers, and had a major raid mob that's undead, slowable, and almost 100% resistive. With a little organization you could cycle clicks and drop the mob's DPS a notch.
Where can you find an undead raid mob that's slowable and highly resistive? I know of at least three just off the top of my head.
As an aside, tanks could use this as an occasional aggro click on undead mobs.

ok spent hours and hours farming these with my wife to get a 15 of them total after killing thousands of mobs in stone hive. Now from the way it looks looks like we would have to get 64 lesser each. Thats just insane with the drop rate of like 2 and hour. We searched sunder and goru mesa and found nothing in either zone. anyone have any clues on this?
Is this a 10% slow to undead only that lasts 36 seconds? And does this stack on top of other slows? Or what?
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you thought you heard was not what I meant.

How do you get the tasks? I have been to the BB camp and spoken with him. When I say 'obtain' he tells me he has nothing for someone of my abilities...

Maybe you first have to talk to one of the new emissaries (in PoK or your home city)? Those mention the emissaries in the Wayfarer camps. Just a guess...

I did that also, before going to BB...
Could this be I need a newer expansion than I have? I have through Titanium, so no PoR or TSS.

It might be a faction thing... this thread on the EQ forum says that the quest may require above dubious faction with the Temple of Ro.

To get this go to Magus in lobby and say Butcherblock. Look for Emissary Fairth he is at the LDON camp. He is the human that wears a red robe.

You get 4 Tasks, Minor Corrupt Sunshard, Lesser Corrupt Sunshard, Corrupt Sunshard, and Greater Corrupt Sunshard .
You 'can' farm the sunshards prior and just hand in when get the task.

If you collect 4 minor Corrupt Sunshard and then hand it in "while having" the minor task you recieve 1 lesser Corrupt Sunshard.
If you collect 4 lesser Corrupt Sunshard and hand it in "while having" the lesser task you will get 1 Corrupt Sunshard.
If you collect 4 Corrupt Sunshard and then hand it in "while having" the Corrupt Sunshard task you will gain 1 greater Corrupt Sunshard.
If you collect 4 Greater Corrupt Sunshard and then hand it in "while having" the Greater Corrupt Sunshard task you get 'Purified Sunshard'.

To win this you only need to get 4 greaters theres two ways doing this.
Collect 16 Corrupts from Goru mesa, The camp is the South west corner of the zone, near bear caves and spider cave. The undead have a 1 min respawn rate which is handy. Vampires, Skeles and mummies drop them. The mobs there are 50 to 60. Spiders and these fawns do not agro but bears do. The drop 1 in every 6 mobs.
Once you get 16 Corrupt Sunshards, which takes average 2 to 4 hours. Go back to Emmisary in BB and get "corrupt sunshard" task then hand in 4, re-get quest and hand another 4 corrupt shards. continue till you get 4 greaters then get greater Corrupt Sunshard and then hand those 4 in.
Or
Go to sunder and kill the Vampires, Skeles and mummies for greaters (need 4). get task hand in and you get it.
Once hand in 4 Greater Corrupts you get a yellow message.
With these four shards Emissary Farith should be able to make some progress in investigating the undead infestation. Perhaps it will reveal some clues for the problems at hand.

It was odd but when I went back the next day the skellies/vamp's etc were there in Goru'kar. Guess they just took a day off on FV :) Drop rate wasn't great though. Got 7 shards while dual boxing over 7 hrs. Better than I did in stone hive though.

Where is Goru'Kar did you find these mobs? I searched all over the place and didnt see a single skellie/mummy/vampire anwhere. Nothing by the bears and spiders area, nor anywhere else that I found.
Also you must have had some phenomenal luck if you got a 1 in 6 drop rate. I killed for hours in Stone Hive and got a grand total of 2. This was continuous killing as there are 6 mobs right in the front gate area that are almost instaneous re-spawn. Hope to hell the result of this quest ends up being more than a 10% undead slow lol.
Also you must have had some phenomenal luck if you got a 1 in 6 drop rate. I killed for hours in Stone Hive and got a grand total of 2.
