the faction requirement is HIGH amiable. yes it is possible to have amiable faction and not be able to do the quest, it is also possible to have amiable faction and be able to do the quest. It all depends on how amiable you are
To whomever posted down below anonymously, amiable DOES in fact work for Thurg armor quests. I know this as a fact for i completed the rogue bracer quest the other night after a guild raid into Kael Drakal turned up a corroded chain bracer. My faction standing went from amiable up into kindly as a result of the quest. Also a number of my guild mates have completed these quests with only an amiable faction standing. Therefore, amiable does work for the quests, please don't post garbage if YOU don't know the facts without a doubt and from personal experience. So to everyone interested in any of the Thurgadin quests armors, amiable is all that is required. Happy hunting and good luck against the evil giants of velious!
I think the best advice given so far is to give the key words to the NPC and to see if he responds. For example, "What sleeves". When I would do this with amiable the NPC would say "You have not proven yourself blah blah blah". However, when I did this with kindly he responded with what I needed to hand in.
You mentioned that you went from amiable to kindly as part of the quest, so maybe that is how some people recieve the item with amiable faction and others say they do not.
