anyways, why flame all the damn time , JESUS CHRIST!...back to da point... this item is very nice, +25INT, +100mana... hell i like it, if ya come across this congratulate yourself on making it that far in the game, not going, "well my epic plus "this shield" is better but the ratio" who cares, it a nice item and if you have come that far you worked your *** off and earned it.

Buddy of mine just got this staff (he is 62 necro), but really the only reason he got it was because he was one of 2 casters in ST when it dropped and the other caster didn't want it so he took it. He has epic, zheart, and this staff. That he can equipt in his primary, and he has Shield of Infused Power in secondary (For those of u unfamiliar with shield of infused power, it is one of the better caster shields in game, offering a ton of stats, namely 25 magic resist, look it up.)
This staff offers him 5 more int and 20 more mana than his epic does. But its not really a huge difference in his personal stats as opposed to epic or zheart. Its a good replacement if you don't have either. Of course 9 times out of 10, if your a caster and you have ST key, more than likely you have zheart since zlandicar is one of the dragons that drops st key, but hey, look at it this way, now you can sell that zheart for 30k.)

I'd love to know how he uses a shield when he has a 2hb item equiped
hmm prolly for the shear fact of this...an YES it has happend ALOT at this site...it was mislabled as 2hb when it is a 1hb item... Anyways.. if ya don't believe me check out the poair 1hs ivory hilted cleaver...when it first dropped it had said it was 2hs under here when it was 1hs...anyways, i'd like to know how ppl like you are allowed to post w/o even further researching YOUR claims...

Epics were supposed to be the best weapons released with KUNARK (drops in VI count too) and for the original EQ - with SoV and SoL items have become much better, epics will soon be aoboulete obvilously, especially with PoP coming out.

Epics are with out a doubt in my mind very powerful weapons, and very useful weapons. I also know that some of the epics, example: Necromancers, SUCK CACK doing and take many many many months. Most necromancers spend about 7 months on their epic.

Sorry to tell you, I doubt bards will ever stop using their epic. The bard epic acts as a modifier to all of our songs and makes them stronger. That is priceless to a bard.

So even after any future patches or expansions people will still be doing there epics and people will still be useing the effects! I dont care if you disagree with me but in the long run i could care less. So HA!!!!!! =)

for melees quite possibly, but the mage epic is an epic that can NEVER be replaced...at least for the pet on it.
The date on the above post is May 3rd; now, 6 months and one expansion later, it appears that "NEVER" has arrived. Just goes to show you that you can never take anything for granted when it comes to the changes Verant will enact on EverQuest.

I'm just wondering what you are referring to that ups the mage epic? I've been following the updates on here fairly closely and haven't seen any pet summon items or upgrades or the like. I probably just missed something, but I'm interested to see it. New pet spell or what?

WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING??? 25int means you can stay at cap while switching out other int gear, 10sta=hp, 10svAll=GOD...At this level, nothing is more important than saves, and this sure has em, being that it is now 1hb means you can still use a shield as well... would be nice for bashing greenies too. Aside from the obvious merits of this item, not everything in the game is awesome and uber... how many people doing froggy king in LGuk need a mith 2h? prolly none.

The smudges and blurs you see are actually jpeg compression. JPEG uses 8x8 blocks and attempts to determine ways to save that block using fewer bytes, but the result is this noise pattern you see, which is always most obvious around high-contrast areas (i.e. where the very dark black text meets the relatively light tan). The higher your compression ratio, the more obvious this noise becomes, but the smaller the file size.
This is an amazingly impressive item to many, though I have a feeling that at level 55+ this is simply an impressive item, as these are probably individuals who have a lot of their stats maxed already. Not that unrealistic for dropping in the sleeper's tomb, possibly one of the most dangerous areas in the game.

don't mean to be rude but I don't think this is fake, I've heard, (yeah I know) that when converting the .bmp file using mspaint the little blotches will happen. It might be fake but I personaly don't think so.
Well, stop wondering. I have seen it in the bazaar on Firiona Vie server (where it is not no drop) and I can testify that it is definitely real.

This is the reason why I wouldn't want to pursue my epic. Getting into Sleepers is an epic itself but much more worth it than my Duckbill Scythe.

this is a very fast weapon indeed. but if i do not see one i will belive that it is fabricated. it is the fastest weapon since the moss covered twig, and all knows that that was nerfed. i do belive that it is indeed fake

Where do the mobs that only hit for 190 in ST spawn?dumb ****** ******* you would get quad hit for 900+ and last all of 1 second before u died.
I would be interested in trying this with my Vampiric Embrace on. I think it's procing for 68 now. since Vampiric Embrace procs even with misses....

I was going to say pretty much exactly what Pene did before I read his. Moss Covered Twig was over powered in meleer's hands with much higher skill caps and ability to take damage (cause in primary hand it taunted like a SOB).
So the only good thing about it, will allow casters to max their 2 hb on easy low blues when group is allowing them to melee. Woot, big woop, he/she might do 50 or 100 dmg, probably not even that much.
Sad thing is, like too many other caster items in particular found in places such as Sleeper's, anyone able to enter VP/Sleeper's has a very high chance of already obtaining their epics, and for almost anyone who does have epic, no way would they loose it and off hand shield item for this.

However, many necromancers that I know refuse to do their epic because they feel the reward doesn't approach the effort required.

first of all, name me 2 melee slot items that add up to +25 INT and 100 mana and +10 to ALL saves. who even cares about the combat stats, sure epics are prolly better...but if your a necro you might not see your epic any time soon...if ever. its not like your gonna go wack naggy with the thing so who cares if its a weapon or 2hb
Hum no caster epic and phenocryst is not 35 int, more like 30. :)
Anyway if you are a necro you can get 20 int with the duck staff and then another 15 int with hand of the reaper in sec slot. And you get mana, resists....

ok not a flame but if you get to sleepers then the guild you are in is so powerful that a necro epic is easy to obtain..how do i know hmm i am in such a guild go look at sythe o shadowed soul and a barrier of sound add the stats then tell me what you think is better i have every slot that can be changed out alrdy changed for max hp mana ac this item is not worthy of the Zone it is in anyone able to get there has better ...not a bad item true but risk>reward here ....

I have no clue whether or not this item exists or not. I will probably NEVER see Sleeper's tomb because I cannot commit all my free time to Everquest (besides, I plan on jumping on Star Wars Galaxies as soon as it comes out.) But the reason I think people are saying this is fake is because of the uglyness of the screen shot. The words are running over the side, and the text has "noise" around them. It could be real, but +25 INT seems like a lot for a weapon.

The noise is part of the lossy compression of the JPEG graphic format; the person who made the picture decided to choose a lower image quality, making the picture smaller (in terms of file size) at the expense of lost picture information.
