You can barely give these away on Drinal...I can't see how this item would ever get up to 6000pp unless it was a quest item. I almost destryoed it when I looted it.
Most any one +hp item, by itself, isn't "worth it." However, putting a few +hp items together, they start getting worth it quite a bit. So no, just wearing this one +hp item won't make you able to withstand another hit. Wearing this and a vah shir skin robe and crystal spider eyes, however, will.
AC doesn't really help int casters. You never get enough of it that mobs will miss, or that high end mob damage will be mitigated to an extent really worth sacrificing extra hitpoints with. What's more, some people suspect an AC soft cap of 700 for int casters, after which you need much more AC to see even a minor effect.
The bottom line is that +Hp gear adds up and there are no diminishing returns on hitpoints. More is always, always better.

i got one of these tonite also in kael was off one of the many mobs in the arena area, i want to say one of the adjudants if i recall correctly and yea its a very sweet item when ever ya dont need your sv cold goin
never saw this for sale :( But this item is very good, i first thought sweet melee item, but its ok the int casters need hp (hell 3 arrows took a caster from full to 4 1/4 bubs.)
So, seeing how people are willing to pay 20K for these... I think every necros best bet is to find someone totally clueless about what it is really worth... Got mine for 1.2K, no joke :)
I never seen a Sickly Glowing Orb auctionned yet, quite rare, and it is likely to be acquired in a raid , and will be given to necros and enchanters that will NOT sell them since it's the best HP range slot item. Maybe in a few month some of those will be sold for 20kpp+ , I guess.
Just thought I would like to agree with what some of you are saying, I recently hit 214 int with all my items that I dont want to swap out for hps, svs, mana, effects, and ac reasons so this item fit nicely into my ranged slot. Approaching 1500 hps self buffed and I would like to get that as high as I possible can, hps equal mana for necros after all.

How interesting...you don't see an item like this for INT classes that often. Would many of you use an item like this? (serious question - I don't have any INT characters)
Very unlikey. A caster that could get this could also get a crystal webshield out of Crystal Caverns. also secondary only. 15ac 20mana 20hp and some saves i think
Necroes will gain more use out of this item with the minor (very minor) STA hp boost and the straight hp with the aid of their tap spells.
Other classes won't find too much use for a non-AC item that doesn't even provide enough hp to take a single solid hit for the level range of the item. AC provides a greater chance to avoid damage in the first place (barring resists for casting). By the time 45+ is reached, critters are regularly hitting for 60, and into the 100's by post-50.
If the item had additional AC as well as the hp multi boost, it might find a limited number of casters using it. With its current design, Necroes are the ones that will be using this the most in the endgame.
after 200int, it's all about hp and resists...a caster's AC is never good enough to LOOK for AC items; the difference between 550ac and 600ac is so minimal to a 50+ mob that focusing on a few extra hp is more important than a few extra ac. This might find some limited use on raids where hp are at a premium, such as Trak and his hard to resist poison AoE, or the Queen in Chardok and her fire AoE. Not an item you'll see many people carrying on a daily basis though, I would think.
