#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 04 2003 at 7:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The Staff of Forbidden rites is an extreamly rare staff that CAN be recharged, but not be convetional means, seventh hammer in my opinion (10 differnt servers) has the most extream ammouts of uber stuff begind sold, there always a BoC, or SoD selling, this is one of the items that doesent sell. the way to recharge it (not defenately sure) is go to PoK, sell to someone, buy it back(500k!) sell it again, and buy it back again, for a total of one million Platinum, however on 7th hammer there are many a people who have a million platinuum so its not really a problem for them. staff of forbidden rites goes for an average price of 350k. it is officialy useless scence planes and 65, because its easier to level a cleric and get epic instead of even trying to obtain the cash, or the countless vox raids, even if u do drop one.... u still have about 20 people on a vox raid, thats a very odd change youl get it, and because the staff is useable from your inventory, everyone can have a roll.
cleric..
# Sep 23 2003 at 6:28 PM Rating: Default
Wouldn't it just be easier to create a cleric... or hire one for that matter.
RE: cleric..
# Dec 20 2003 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default
yes it would, but this stick is used to drag a dead magician with a rogue to places you cant normally get to. Rogue drags mage, rogue rezzes mage, Mage starts COHing people to safe spot to set up for raid. Used to be done a lot in Chardok when you didnt have a mage with faction, also to get to POMischief before they moved the zone in.

The item still drops yea, but vox raid's are a pain in the *** and the res sticks are scarce. people on the seventh hammer play around 125k for a fully charged one. im not sure about the PoK recharge, but i wish it could just use a mana battery instead =( its really hard to find them and even when u do people try to scam and show u one with all 10 charges. Mostly the biggest guild on ur server has a plethora of these in the bank and make sure every monk has one with em.

I don't see a real purpose for this item. If it looks like your raid is going to wipe have a Cleric or Necromancer camp out or the Necromancer can just FD. Maybe if you don't have a cleric or a necro, then it's useful, but why would you be raiding without either one?

used to be a great way to get to PoM before the recent changes.
RE: Staff
# Sep 30 2003 at 6:21 PM Rating: Excellent
several reasons why camping a cleric or fding a necro isn't always going to work. AoE's break fd, so does rampage if there is no one else around. Clerics can't always get camped fast enough, and with the rez box being on a 3min timer now, you can't box a cleric forever waiting for the mobs to leave you alone. And if it's a splitter mob, those never backwash, as that is ther spawn point.

Personally I'd rather see these in the hands of Rogue's than monks, but having one to save you deep in say VT would be a huge help.
Recharge
# May 17 2003 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
As for the "vendor buyback trick", how much does the vendor buy it for? Is recharging it and then selling profitable?
RE: Recharge
# Jul 24 2003 at 1:12 PM Rating: Decent
Any item can be recharged. Theres a quest in PoK that aloows you to do that.

# Oct 25 2002 at 7:23 PM Rating: Decent
can anyone confirm this for me i saw one of these for sale in bazaar yesterday and did not see charges on it. Was it changed or did i simply missed the charges on it? someone who has one and can say for sure please.
RE: was this changed?
# Nov 22 2002 at 7:52 AM Rating: Decent
I saw in bazaar on Druzzil Ro yesterday going for 75K and didnt see a charge on it either. Anyone with this item know if it was changed?
RE: was this changed?
# Apr 02 2003 at 2:53 PM Rating: Decent
they were trying to cheat you, they had already used all ten charges and i doubt it can be recharged, but thats just in my experiance
RE: was this changed?
# Apr 04 2003 at 9:50 PM Rating: Default
It can be recharged, often high end guilds will buy two, one of which they always keep at full charges and the other they keep. Sell the one with full charges to merchant, sell the one with no charges to the same merchant, then buy both back and they'll both have full charges. This worked great for a while but I guess in some patch they increased the price that a merchant will sell this thing so it hurts the bank account a bit more to use this method. Most likely if you saw it without charges in bazaar somebody was trying to sell it for that reason.
Can it be recharged in PoA?
# Oct 09 2002 at 6:00 PM Rating: Decent
I was woundering if this is one of the iteams that can be recharged in PoA. (if you haven't been there, there is a guy on the first islnad that sell stones that when right lcicked show up as mana battery's or somthing of that nature, as it turns out there is a way (one that i do not know of yet) that you can recharge certin iteams in teh game without having to do the vendor stuff, as such i was woundering if anyone knew how to make the stones work and where you have to go to do it).

Thanx for your time and stay safe everyone,

RE: Can it be recharged in PoA?

This item can only be recharged through the "Vendor buy-back" trick... and even then it costs 225k plat.
Buyback Nerfed
# Oct 16 2002 at 5:38 PM Rating: Excellent
There was a message on the patch today that this staff would now be "Properly Valued" by vendors, and cost a lot more to buy back for a vendor.
Quote:
Merchants now highly value the Staff of Forbidden Rites and will only sell them at an extremely high price.

If you want to keep it for the other benefits besides the ressurection charges, I'd advise against selling it to a vendor, because the buyback price just went though the roof.

Limited Charges?
# Sep 12 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
10 charges? Make sure you pick and choose when to rez. This item is meant for complete wipeouts where people are scattered all over and have no chance of CR, and your not a cleric or Pally, and you are the only one who survives...don't go wasting it for a little plat here and there.

Basically, I think that any cleric or pally who rolls on this is being greedy...they already have their own rezzes.

RE: Limited Charges?
# Mar 23 2003 at 9:23 PM Rating: Good
This is usable by any class from inventory. Best for it to go to a class that can FD.
Shaman
# Jun 19 2002 at 2:00 PM Rating: Decent
since shaman are able to equip, are they able to use the resurrection or is that primarily for clerics and paladins?
30k?
# Aug 23 2001 at 3:37 AM Rating: Decent
This little item would fetch well over 30k at auction. Personally, I'd save it for guild use anyday. PoM raid anyone springs to mind.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 07 2001 at 11:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Sometimes you can sell an item that has used its charges to a vender, and then immediately buy it back from him and you'll get it fully charged. No idea if it would work with this one or not, and you'd take a massive cash hit of course, but might be worth a try for you rich guys out there.
RE: recharging
# Apr 30 2002 at 6:39 PM Rating: Default
actually, heres the deal on recharging items with merchants, if you sell something with charges that has say 4 charges left, but then you sell the same thing that has 8 charges left, it will be stored under 4 charges, and if you bought them both back they would both have 4, works the other way around though, sell the one that has 8 charges first then the one with 4 charges, buy them back and they'll both have 8
RE: recharging
# Oct 26 2003 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
As of the last patch, vendors now 'stock' items with different amounts of charges left seperately.

Gee, and you get to test this theory on two Staffs of Resurrection first :)
Planes
# Jun 01 2001 at 8:53 PM Rating: Good
As our guild obtained one of those, its given to the monk (me) during major raids incase of complete wipe out.I'm to feign, wait til camp is clear /q come back and rez a cleric with it.Quite effective and sure as hell beats a CR into hate or fear or places like kael or skyshrine.

RE: Planes
# Mar 23 2002 at 11:58 AM Rating: Default
Tiny Hitch to your plan.....its not monk useable, surely someone in your guild would have noticed or thought about that....I mean, if your guild was able to kill Lady Vox they are all probably aware of this....
RE: Planes
# Apr 11 2002 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
Sure a monk can't wack anyone with the stick, but he can sure right click it and rez a cleric.
