I kill all the fire drakes to spawn the imps. they repop very fast and are phs for each other. the drakes dont drop these but the imps do. still not common at all so being a foraging class is a help. and imps dont spawn nearly as much as the drakes ( maybe 1 in 8)
with any of this in your inventory ... if you run out of food, your character will eat it, and since it's so hard to get... =\

My lvl 41 Druid (foraging skill 190) camped the goblin camp (-462,-158)in Lavastorm Mountains. She foraged and looted 21 ashweed in five hours along with 11 asmay weedand 14 soot hemlock. Anyone want to buy a stack of Ashen Dye?

I remember these dropping in Sol A also, but Ive not gone back to sol A to check yet. Can anyone confirm this ?

I thought I remembered this Item drop in Sol A from the gobs but i'm not to certain. anybody try Sol A?

Went to farm these in LS tonight, hoping to hope that they really did drop and were not forage-only. They are dropped by the Goblin Warriors that guard the named Hykallen. Short spawn time, maybe 10 min. max, and she doesn't always spawn w/ them. Gobbies drop hemlock and a few other plantish items, not every time tho :( Good luck =)

In addition to goblin warriors, ashweed is also dropped by lava imps. They drop it pretty rarely (maybe 1 in 20 kills), and since they're a rare spawn, having a tracker helps.
Edit: I can also confirm this drops from the Goblin Scout (not Fire Goblin Scouts, though).

I dont know if they changed it recently or what... but I was farming Basilisk eggs in Lavastorm the other night and I always kill pretty much anything that moves. I was Playing with my lvl 56 Shammy, which obviously can't forage, and ended up with a couple Ashweed , and ashroot from this venture. They were definately drops. Although, so no one gets their hopes up to high for these particular items, I do have to say that I only ended with a couple of these Items in prob an 8-9 hour span in the zone.

So what zone's can i find this in?

man what a sLOW forage - in an hours time I got 2 of these...I killed everything that moved in zone but nothing had one

This item is used in brewing to make cultural dyes for DE cultural tailoring. Combine 1 flask water with 1 ashweed and get ashen dye. You use the dyes to make ribbons via tailoring and then in turn the ribbons to make robes also via tailoring. The trivial on dyes is listed as 111<= trivial <= 135 and all recipes for the robes are on EQtraders.
I believe you can forage it in Lavastorm and possibly Sol a/b, it might also drop off the kobolds in Sol b but not sure.
It's also used to make a rogue poison.

Farmed sol b for an hour or so just going around killing kobolds, death caps and heaburn (or something like that) droped but no ashweed. Guess it is just a foraged item. bummer.
That specific poison uses ashROOT not ashWEED. I don't see ashweed listed as a poison ingredient at all.

Eqtraders' "Zone Specific Foraged Goodies" chart lists ashweed as a Rogue Poison component. Intrigued, I went to the recommended link: http://kikyara.tripod.com/poisons/poisontab.html#festering_nettle
It is used in "Festering Nettle Poison"-which acts to lower all resists except poison for 3 minutes. I'm not sure how poison is made, but it listed lined vial/regular suspension, 2 Ashroot.
