Ye Auld Ball Peen Hammer  

 

Due to this identifying as 'My First Magic Hammer' i can imagine this refers to a Ball Point Pen. Wasn't McQuaid and co pen and paper rpg'ers? =)

In the bazaar on Seventh Hammer, the are for sale nost of the time for 250,000pp to 500,000pp. Just for grins I guess.

This item has been changed. It can no longer be equiped in the ranged weapon slot.

So a Ball Peen Hammer would be a hammer with a round end that is used to shape a material. Since this particular hammer drops off of a Smithy, it is safe to assume that "Ball Peen Hammer" is just saying it's a smith's hammer. The "Ye Auld" means "The Old", it's just there for flavor.

A quick search on google for "ball peen hammer" gave me several results that would allow you to purchase a ball peen hammer, from the pictures shown I can tell you I have one around here somewhere.

I picked this up last night. After looking at the str to weight it is not worth it in that aspect you are looseing.
The ac is ok but I can have arrows and a bow I would gladly trade that one ac for in dammage for my shadowknight. Or in the case of my shammy I played around in pottery and got a protection doll that gives 3ac, if I go alittle higher in pottery I can get one that gives nice saves.
The delay to dammage is as bad as a club that u get off decayed skellys.
Lastly for the hp that is nice for some of them light blues that hits for ones and twos.

So one out of 4 is not good ratio?? (

This is in response to Palarran, Guru. If you think the RANGE slot is for items that are to go in the range slot but should not be throwable, that kinda puts all the shurikens I been using, shouldn't have been thrown?

What wouldn't make this a good item? I just found out about it and have been beating the hell out of the smith to try and get one.
I've a longbow in my ranged slot. what does that really do for me? Nothing. I can only use it to pull. In melee it does me no good. This hammer will. It is a simple item to camp, the guy is green to me. simple smack down. as fas as the laughable damage? I have a dark reaver for doing damage. This just helps out. I don't ever plan on actually using it to hit someone... well.. unless I'm just playing with them.

I am a level 15 Ranger.

I have had this hammer sitting in my pack for a while. My attack rating is 320 ( non magic 6 dam Axe 1hs ) and drops to 140 when I put it in my melee slot. I definitely wouldn't switch it with my range weapon, even for the small buff, at my level it isn't substatial enough to warrant.

I got 1 gold from the merchant in town and no PC's would trade for it.

Probably great for a low caster.


This section says that it is worth 90pp. From who!!?? I can sell him some 200pp rusty longswords.

Oh, by the way, I picked this up off of the ground in Crush Bone. Obviously it wasn't an NPC drop but someone just tossed it. I think this puts into perspective its worth.

This hammer offers fairly nice ac and some stats in the ranged slot before you get something better like the Idol of the Thorned.

Um, this item exists. It is not too useful, but more so than an empty range slot on my cleric.

Those of you that think this weapon is bad,think again.
Being a master smith on Brell,this helps me out greatly! I can't find anythign else cheap to go in range slot that gives +str. So,for all you smiths out there in the low levels,this is a great item for you.

Not to mention if your archery sucks,it's great to carry around for the extra ac and hp. Every little bit helps.

hey ive heard of certain items that can only be smithed if you combine their componants with a magic hammer. any chancce this is such a smithing hammer?

I won't say what I paid for mine, but it was considerably less than 125pp - the STR increase is negated by it's weight, so all you have is a +1 AC +4 HP hammer - not really worth it if you ask me. May be good for a cleric, though.

If you want a decent 1h blunt weapon for Clerics, do the Shining Star of Light quest in North Qeynos. I already have one and I just put the Hammer in my range and use the stats until I can find something else better that fits in my range slot.

I am now an 18 monk, and picked this up at 15 on one kill of the Smithy. It was definately a useful weapon, saved my life many times in the range slot. I eventually had to drop it because of its weight, but when you end up with 3 or 4 hps left, you are glad you had it. My 2 cps

I personally think this is a POS, even in range slot it's not that great if you ask me, if your a wood elf druid it's so fricken heavy that you lose what little carrying capacity you have anyways, the ratio sucks. My druid got two of these and gave both of them away. Utter crap if you ask me.
