How long does it take to get enough faction for this, and are there any shortcuts???
how many gems are needed.. jus the one but how many of them ?
For all thurg, skyshrine, and kael turn-ins, you need 3 of the appropriate gem. You turn the piece of armor and three gems UNSTACKED.
I know I'm responding to an old post but hopefully it will help future people with the same question.

Just received these leggs and they do not have any effect. But after returning from a 15 month vacation they are very good to use when ya return naked. Picked up the jewels from the Bazaar and had the coroded legs before I left

What's the effect on these? Almost all Thurg legs seem to have an effect?
all melee legs except monks do not have an effect on them )

As I have completed atm 1 peice Vambracers, I can tell u these dropped of Kallis Stormcaller at ent to arena right side. 15 of us took him and others out, but it is truely random on the mobs around and in the arena. All the mobs at arena are very dangerous, we were lucky not to lose anyone on this trip, partially in part to having a 60 monk pulling for us (great guild). Watch out for these mobs as they tend to frequently become enraged and when doing so switch to hitting for mid 200's, thats on my 919ac body. And to answer the appearance question, NO, they do not look like rygorr, most high ac items do true, like my Spined seahorsehide BP, sad look. This armor looks like Ivy but a lil darker Tgod, and semi chain/cloth appearance to it. All of which is seen through the eyes of a HalfElf Ranger(not many of us around, but still kicking). They don't hit harder when they become enranged, they just riposte every hit, just turn attack off. Also, arena is not hard, I can duo there with a shammy easily.
Also the armor drops are random, but higher rate of drop off the higher level mobs, such as Veteran's.

Or just hit them from behind to avoid ripostes when enraged.
Does Anyone know what level or group level you need to be to get this item ... Would three low forties and a 33 Ranger complete this task ... Can anyone provide better details? Thanks!
No, you could not get the armor quest piece (from Kael Drakkel) at those levels. 45+ is best to do the zone-ins (either side); while 51+ for the Arena or Manor.
Additionally, there are the gems. Leg and BP gems are particularly costly on the market (1k+ each), and you would not be able to consistently hunt for them until 55+ (leg gems drop deep in Velk's and in SG, amongst other, even harder, places).

Realizing that this post is old, it's worth noting that the price of gems has come down considerablly, at least on Tunare. Found the Flawed Sea Sapphires in the bazaar for just 200p each. While still not cheap, 600p is well within reason for me to get these legs.

Anyone know if there is a particular place where the corroded piece needed for this quest drops more common in Kael? I have seen the sleeves drop a few times in the arena, but never the corroded greaves. Thank you.

i believe the thurgadin armor has the same look as the ry'gorr

As of the patch on 3/6/01 The runed scout armor is now green instead of the same color as Ry'gor.
