After about a 10 hour session, 10/27/08 picked one of these up of a skeleton type in the "temple" to the right after the bridge.. I think the last one I got came from this general location as well.. Was not visible.

Does this still drop? I've spent a lot of time in those zones since 2003 and never saw one before.

Logically, since Wizards get the spell at 34, the staff should start working at that level also.
Logic doesn't always have anything to do with it.
Consider Donal's Gauntlets of Mourning. Effect Armor of Faith. Level 39 Cleric Spell. But, it won't work until Level 45.

Yes, item effect required levels don't correlate well to scribed spell levels.
My favorite example is Silken Augmenter's Pantaloons, the effect of which is Tranquility, a level 63 Enchanter spell. As you can see from Lucy, the effect works at level 50 (although since the quest requirements changed, you can't obtain these until you're level 55).

Having camped the back bridge's 2 gazebo's in CoM for 6 and half levels, I looted several of these, and gave them away to wizzy's. Good to have in a pinch. They are Wizard only.

For those questioning its use, it's a mana free port and cast time is 18 seconds (roughly same amount as regular spell). No question about it, it can save time/mana but I do agree it's use is somewhat conditional. In any case, it's not pad for what I paid for it (600pp). A good item to have if you're a wizard and OOM.
Is there a level limit on the use of it? For instance, we have a level 12 wizard and a level 25 wizard in my guild. Would the level 12 not be able to use it but the level 25 would? (The level 12 can't port anywhere at the moment.)

Ok, perhaps a clasic noob question: Can this item's effect be used by non-wizzies from an invintory slot? This would be great for my necro, get back and forth to the bank from SK and such...

on all items now that have to be equiped say "casting time etc must be equiped) otherwise it will just say casting time etc. if this were not the case, i would get my ranger the cleric epic have free 96 rezz, druid epic have free 1500 dot, enchanter epic free haste etc, so verent thought of that before us and added the must be equipped thing. sorry guys but i think for an item like this, they would have must be equipped.

I think that would depend on weather you can use the item from the inventory or you have to equip it. More than likely it has to be equipped. Otherwise you can use it.
Classes not listed cannot use the proc of an item, even if its from inventory.

No, not strictly true (although being quite a general guide to go by). I can't say if this item can be used by a warrior etc, but I do know that for example, the Amulet of Necropotence can be clicked from inventory by any class (not just the caster classes listed).
I'll let you know if I loot one, so far I've been in CoM and looted 10+ Wraith Bone Hammers in my 30-40 hours there, nothing else but rubbish has dropped yet.

This is NOT a proc it is a right click!!! if a Wizard wants to pratice his 2hb then this is what to use!!!!

i JUST LOOTED ONE OF THESE IN CITY OF MIST. Mine is different in that the damage bonus is 1 and it only weighs 4.5 pounds. Not sure what the damage bonus is however.If anyone does please let me know. Thanks.

It proced at 47 when i tried it.. but only when wielded... it has the normal casting time... pretty useless item if u ask me...

I got one of these in CoM and traded it to a lvl 60 Warrior for a spider fur cloak and belt combo. Being a Monk I couldn't pass it up, he also told me if I got another one to send him a tell because a couple of the wizards in his guild wanted them. Alot of people sent me tells when I was trying to sell/trade it saying that they had not herd of it before. A few people said that they didn't think it would be usefull or worth much, while others (mostly high level players) seemed to be more intrested in it. I thought it was a pretty cool item since it was the only right click group TP I heard about. As far as value is concerned, it depends. I think it is worth 7-10k depending on the server, but do not expect to sell it quickly. The "market" for this seems to be high level wizards/guilds who want either a toy or a back up evec if they run oom/lom which are the two cases where it is most usefull. Used properly it can become effectivly a +300 mana item since you can run lower on mana and still have a way to evac your group, the down side is it is not an "insta-cast" so it may not be the "first choice" for evac, just a back up option for a close fight.

This item can be right clicked from inventory at level 47 or used from melee slot at 47 by a wizzy.

not any more it can't, i'm a 50 wizard and it must be in primary melee slot to use, /shrug, not totaly useless, but imo its mostly a toy. i mostly use it as a last ditch evac or a way to make some easy money. i traded a nightshade wreath for it, so i'm happy.

This staff is cool. One time i got lost with my friend Freddy, but then he got hit by a bus. After that he was quiet, and he was also sleeping. My mom said that the bone sticking out of his leg was completely normal, but, i think she is trying to trick me. Can you guys tell me what you think is wrong with him?

Got this for my n00bie twink. This weapon is a right click item but my level 6 wizard (told you he was twinked) can't trigger the effect. Anyone know when this effect can be activated? Also, the speed/ damage delay on this thing is outrageous! Tanking with a 6th level fighter and I hit more often and for as much damage as he does!
