Yes this spear is a good spear, its nice ratio and clickable song make this ideal for a 50-60 bard, this will allow a bard to twist 4 songs at once. pretty good. but the main flaw.... the man who drops the efreeti warspear... he takes a full group of 65's to drop. hes crazy. immune to magic, and has 500 dammage hits. but dooable.... so if u feel like trying this quest, by all means do so. over all score: (*)(*)(*)( )( )

The most significant flaw in the proc would be that it locks the bard up (like the Katta's Sword Dance proc). The latter having been fixed, it might be worthwhile bringing this out of the closet again. I'd have to reserve judgement until I could tell how often it procs, and how long a proc lasts.
And much like many other bard songs, Chant of Battle suffers from incompatabilities with a number of other bard songs. But when you CAN play it, the dex and str are pretty good.
A few other random off topic comments... As this is a primary-only weapon, the SSS in the off hand is still a possibility. At 10/21, it stacks up fairly well with other weapons - say, Symphonic Sabre.
For the fellow who sneered at the thought of a 61 bard in SS armor... well, skyshrine armor ain't shabby. And neither is Singing Steel. You might look at a few more bards... But that's an argument for a different thread...
I am the owner of the spear and thought I would answer the general questions surrounding it.
The effect is a proc. The effect is also bugged, when the song goes off, it causes all other bard songs to become stuck. (Similiar to the old bug that effected our songs with procs)
This spear has never been used in an exp or raid type setting. Just testing and since I have finished my SSS quest since finishing the Harmonic Spear quest, I dont see it being used. Ever.
First of all, this weapon is pretty cool, but certainly no Breath of Harmony:) At the higher levels, CoB is used because of its DEX buff, allowing more procs to go off. Since this weapon is primary only (grr), can't use it and BoH:( Still, it will save a song slot (very precious to bards), and should allow for a 4 song twist much easier. And to answer another posters question, our songs do scale with the bard, so even this 1st level song buffs for 20+ at the higher levels.
probably a proc. being on a weapon and all.. prolly works just like a BoH. procs and lasts a bit.and its a nice proc at that. dont know why people are whinning about this so much. its an awesome weapon with a great proc if anything, this is something LESS to twist.
The one thing to remember about bard songs is that they get better the higher the bard is. Yes, there are a couple better songs that this won't stack with but having a level 1 song is not like having a level 1 spell on an item. Bard Songs increase in potency every level unlike spells.
For all we know, the effect may last longer than 4 ticks. I agree that having to twist this would be fairly useless other than saving a spell slot, but if the effect lasts a while, no twisting is necessary! That would make this a VERY handy effect on an already cool item.
I was wondering the same thing. Generally when it says it's a triggered thing it means right-click. Although it makes sense as a proc too. The Robe of the Whistling Fists (I'm a Monk) Has a proc of Jonthan's Whistling Warsong, and that is right-click. So it also makes sense as a right-click triggered song too. Rather confusing actually. Just my 2 copper pieces
