Throwing Better Things -
Part 2
by Jorlan Hegeway
Someone brought me a bushel of these flowers he called Bulb Lotus. These things might replace Rheum as a stabilizer. If you use Icicle Ivy and prism grains, they call it that because it makes a rainbow if you hit it with the light just right, you'll have a solid base. If you add the right activators you can produce a concoction that can blind someone for a moment. I've discovered that luminous ivy, starshine moss and some kinds of fireflies will activate the mixture.
I've started down an interesting path. Bulb lotus seems pretty stable with firespores, and I'm thinking that with one more ingredient it will work as a base. Perhaps something with a structure to it like the prism grains (no, those don't work, I tried). I'm pretty sure that activators for that sort of mixture would be organic, plants most likely, but I wouldn't rule anything out. I'll figure it out soon enough, I have work to do, and so do you.
I've also been following up on some research others have done. I've discovered that adding some draconic essence to the awareness potions will make them more potent.
At the same time, I found a new base that works much like the one used for those potions. Some Briar Thistle and Pickleberry Extract, mixed with this thing they call Storm Cloud, makes a good awareness base for some new potions. The activators for these are Red Cups, Pitcher Plant, Sky Vine, Cryptanthus and Draconic Essence.
The final component is used to differentiate the mixture. To the bases and actiavtors I've listed, try adding Nettle Creeper, Blue Nightwart or Marsh Algea.
