yup i was in PoK today just about to log when i see this guy shouting wts cc shield just out of curiousity i asked him how much and he replied 1K! i ended up getting it for 900pp not bad considering it goes for much more most of the time. Not a bad shield and now ive got a cool graphic haha. Good luck all and safe hunting
For the longest time, the shield was non-magical...the only piece of CC armor that wasn't magic! This being an issue because of Bash. When Clerics got that ability I went out and grabbed one of these, only realizing afterwards...no magic tag! Doh! But just last night....I found out that they are now indeed magic.

Ok everyone has seemed to Dance around the important thing on this item. WHO DROPS IT, is a random drop within the zone or a specific mob? I've played EQ long enough to know what is a good item and I really don't need a million different opinions on which shield is better because of resists or mana ect ect ect. Just curious...Thanks
It depends on what server you are on and whether or not you have Luclin. The Bazaar is a GREAT place to get AWESOME prices for hard-to-find items, though if you don't have the expansion good luck finding someone with one of these, and expect to pay full price, or more.

A Sarnak Battle Shield on Dro still sells for 20k in which, for wis casters this is much more useful. Even if your maxed for wis the 40mana is incredible. 1200pp?? Well, VL is newbville i guess so that makes sence.
LOL 12k? hehe when was this? On Povar I seen a SBS for 1500pp the other day, and bought a CC shield 2 days before that for 3k. Hmm maybe we just messed up or something P
The Sarnak Battle Shield is much rarer and has some very nice resistences included. Plus it looks very nice. This shield here is a nice upgrade to the Charred Guardian Shield, a pure increase in AC and Mana. Both nice stats but resistence is what many high level player are after for raid situations.
damn, I just bought one on a whim today in EC... he was asking 1200pp, I tentatively offered 1k, and he accepted. I bought to twink my pally alt a little. damn good item for so little money.
Pricing, payed 10k for mine, worth every penny and consider myself lucky to have gotten it that low. Seen em /auc'd upto 19k and selling fast.
as to the rarity, I know someone on our server who is a 57 cleric, been camping his spawn for pretty much well 9 hours a day for a week and is still ***** outta luck on getting his.
This shield is really quite awesome, just put one on my 46 shaman and im one happy ******* :) 20ac 9wis 40mana and when you equip/unequip it yah should see the mana spike up and down heh.
Its truely an awesome item with the stats for sure, but the ac is just too damn fine. currently my shaman with just agility cast on him has JUST under 900ac and lemme tell yah, he is truely a pain in the *** to kill... takes an even con mob forever to even drop him to half.
Since patch fangs does pop occasionally not more then once a day and he never drops shield. we killed him 3 times in one week no shield just cheap loot. I think if you have the shield you should keep it seen one for sale for 22kp OBO. E-marr.
In regards to the post about this being rarer, how rare is something that is dropped twice by a MOB that spawned 20 minutes apart? Yes, Crystal Fang spawned back to back, and he dropped the shield both times. When we pulled him the second time, I made a joke about how funny it would be if he dropped the shield again. When I checked the corpse, lo and behold, there was the shield. Our cleric was happy getting the shield the first time, but since we didn't have any wisdom casters for the second shield to default to, we randomed it and our enchanter won. The rarity of this being uncommon is correct, it is not a rare.
I have seen lots of people talking about switching from Charred Guardian shield to this, it was a good idea but now is even better. I bought this shield when it had the stats posted above(12 AC +9 wis +10 mana) for 500pp on Morrell Thule. The next day they changed it on a patch to 20 AC +9 wis +40 mana. I've never been so happy in my life. It is DEFINATELY worth it if not just for the AC, but the +40 mana. I had a testament of Vanear prior to this but the addition to mana probably makes up for the one wisdom I lost. So once again the stats are now AC: 20 Wisdome 9 Mana +40 BTW the graphics are like the shimmering orb
well since nobody has answered the Where part, I'll do so. I have this shield, looks like the typical magical pulsing disk worn by many casters. Also Crystal Fang can be found ALL the way to the top of the dungeon. He spawns up the quite a bit and I have killed him twice with a single solid group buffed with Protection of the Grove.

and i received a shock when i tried to bash something with it, that the target was imune! I didn't notice, but it isn't magic. Basically turns it into a non bashing wis caster item. Cronar Deliverance guild Eci
7 ac to a druid is like a cup of water being dumped into a river.. just not going to make a diff. A shaman or cleric would get a lil use out of that much ac though I suppose.
Main use of this item is cosmetic. I imagine its the crystal graphic like the transparent shields of thurgain... which are kinda cruddy except for the cold res. I'd really like this to switch out with mine and have 9 wis more too.
one day when your double'd for 150 or so you'll learn to respect the power of ac. if ya dont got it, your gonna need to. cause on any raid you will learn that without ac or resist gear you are useless and a liability

LOL...first of all AC is deffinately important to a druid, at higher levels we group, and we play the same role as clerics or shaman play. Healer and debuffer. Making us a good target for mobs to kill, so any AC getting is good. Equal to that of resists stats and less important than Wisdom and mana of course. Secondly your analogy about the cup of water being dumped into a river, would make the assumption that druids have alot of AC(river)that a shield with an extra 7ac(cup of water) wouldn't matter. Truth is, with the leather armor restrictions, druids have little AC. And the river analogy wouldn't even work with those who have alot of AC...talk to a high level warrior, see if he is willing to give up 7ac...i am sure he will disagree with ya.

Sorry, just got out of a lecture in my comp class discussing statements of fallacy.
I agree, it's always nice to be able to grab a bit more ac. Comes in handy when that mob decides to turn on you, lets you take a few hits while the tank (hopefully) taunts it off you. :)

AC +12 is super and while the +10mana isn't great, the weight is fantastic! I have a HIE cleric and weight is always a major issue so where do I get one!
I beg to differ on "..while the +10mana isn't great..", when you have your WIS maxed, +10 mana is 10 more mana you didn't have before. now lets say you have +10 mana on 5 slots ... do the math.
By the time you can get this shield, 10 mana is going to be maybe 5% of a single cheap spell. 10 mana is what, 1/3 of the mana for root?
Don't kid yourself, the 10 mana is not that great. I'd rather have the 10 mana than not have anything at all, but you aren't going to notice it either way.
Let me put it this way-- compared to the charred guardian shield, you're getting 2 more ac and 10 more mana. The 2 ac means more than the 10 mana.
This is a major upgrade for anyone who plays a HIE cleric compared to the CGS. Number one reason why its better ? Look at the weight. CGS is 8 lbs, CCS is 1 lb. Thats 7 more lbs you can use to upgrade a different slot with a heavier piece of you need to and 7 more lbs you have before you need to bank. Considering clerics dont travel well you want to put off if you can because the areas you are going to are a real pain at this level.
So, 7 lbs lighter, 2 more raw ac and 10 more mana. Sounds like one hell of a deal to me.
Granted a Strathbone is better, but thats so insane of a rare drop its not even worth mentioning IMHO.
