#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 18 2001 at 11:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I do whole-heartily agree that this is a melee item only, and I don't even play a melee class. Heck, I play one of the whiny, snivelly int casters. This is a melee item because, once a caster is high enough to get this (60 according to Allakhazam, but it's around 55 or so) most of us already have our epics or are damn near finishing. I myself, if I went on a Dain raid, would pass on rolling for this. I, like most anybody should be, am really close to finishing my epic. The thing gives me 20int and 100mana, not to mention the same str, better saves, and a whole hell of a lot more staffs. Plus, it's 20 dmg, 30 delay. (Stats are just from calling them up on the fly, but I'm sure about dmg/delay, int, and mana) The fact is simply put: it's a melee class item. Any melee class really, but best for warrior/pali/SK/monk IMHO.
RE: Melees only
# Sep 04 2001 at 8:01 PM Rating: Decent
Agreed, but would be best to give it to a bard or monk who can wield it with their epic.

don't forget the +13 wisdom and +13 intelligence on the weapon. if i saw this drop i would try to award to ranger/pally/or sk just so that the int and wis get the best useage. granted the weight is nice for a monk but do they really need the int, wis, and plus mana?????......not really

any caster could put this to good use; great int, and decent mana
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 10 2001 at 3:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am a monk currently dual weilding a Primal Velium Warhmamer in main, and a Priceless in offhand................Anyone doing a raid soon want a Priceless Velium Warhammer in trade for looting rights =P...With my epics and CoF...Well, lets just say Avatar and Arch Sheilding PLUS the haste...I could probably walk up to some previously unsoloable mobs, and make them bow to the mighty hackle hammer...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is pointless.
# Jun 05 2001 at 5:44 AM Rating: Default
Hey, c'mon all, stop bashing the hell out of others. Every guild strong enough to get one of these is most likely pretty well organized. Meaning they probably have their own theories as to who should get to loot this. Any decent high level guild knows what loot may drop during a raid and has decided far in advance who should be in random for what. The point is, you people can argue about this till you're blue in the face, but your local uber guild has their own ideas and will likely never read nor care about what is said here.

ok, now, if i am being completely ignorant, and this was already posted a bazillion times, then pls flame me, but to the person who said this could be quested, are u just BSing, or can u really do it? and if you can quest this uber hammer, who starts it and what are the quest items? but we all know that even if there is a quest, the items would be such a pain in the *** to get that it would be easier to kill the dain 5 times solo, then to do it, but for all those peopl eout there who are dreamng of this hammer, a quest might be the way to go. so if you wouldn't mind...pls spill the bena son quest ifo ;-)

# Jun 03 2001 at 12:53 AM Rating: Default
ah, cuz it would be nice if like a lvl 1 could quest this =) make all the ubers green with envy ;-) hehe. it would rock if u could quest it... it would kinda make sense too, u kno? like instead of getting the belt of dwarf slaying for the tormax head quest, u get this, and the belt for the dains head quest from tormax. i guess it would make a little more sense then getting the belt from a dwarf...
RE: Quest
# Jun 07 2001 at 6:37 AM Rating: Default
AS FAR AS I HAVE HEARD AND READ....

u actually CAN quest for it.

just like the dwarfslaying belt, its the other way round.
no, u dont hand him the belt to get his head. the OTHER way round.
u bring the head of the GIANT KING to the DWARF KING, and this is said to award u the hammer.

but i guess slaying him could be easier than slaying the giant, BUT he drops another mighty axe, the new axe of the kromax kings or something.

it will take me years though to try it myself

It seems like it makes sense though, so if anyone knows for sure, then pls, do tell, we would all love to know =) well, ill be back with more info hopefully soon.
Silly debate

You don't give mana regeneration items (despite if they have decent AC to melee. By the same token you don't give hi damage ratio weapons to casters. Not a difficult leap of logic to make here.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 23 2001 at 9:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Guild just killed dain lastnight, and he had 2 of these hammers on him. The first one was awarded, and looted, and after this NO DROP hammer was looted, the dwarf warrior could not equip it. Lots of people were pissed at him for not double checking, and the person that awarded the hammer out. Was very upsetting for the other tanks that really wanted it.

Hmm
# May 16 2001 at 2:04 PM Rating: Default
I've seen several of these rewarded all of them were given to melees.. warriors specificially.

I'm sure clerics, etc could make use of this but seriousily at the level these are attained you really don't need that extra Int/Wis and how often are you actually wacking anything in melee.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 16 2001 at 10:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Geesh..you people know how easy it is to get 200wis or 200int? Do you know how hard it is to get 255str? This is a MELEE weapon, I don't give a crap if you taxi around the president of the united states, like hell a tree hugging druid is going to get his grubby hands on this.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 20 2001 at 1:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Do you know how EASY it is to get to 200 Strength? Let's see, idiot, OF COURSE IT WOULD BE HARDER TO GET 255 STRENGTH THAN 200 WIS/INT, THEIR IS 55 STAT POINT DIFFERENCES. Wow, I never realized such morons existed. Yea, casters don't need to go above 200 WIS/INT, but how about you stfu? Anyhow, any druid (besides Mistiful on Bristlebane) deserves this more than you ever would. Oh, and if you are curious why I pointed out Mistiful, it's because she is an idiot who PLs people while they are on the Minotaur Hero spawn point, and when they die, she flames someone about her own idiocy.

Well to add my two cents into the mix.
I have a level 50 Druid and would love to have a weapon as this. It has great stats that druids cannot find anywhere else except for there epic weapon. But not everyone is able to do the epic quest. So think about your friendly Taxi driving Druid when you kill em :)

# May 24 2001 at 5:54 PM Rating: Default
this would be good for bards. The way our right click items / songs work, the spell effects stack with other spells (for example, the damage shield on my bracer is the level 20 mage spell. If i get the level 50-whatever DS on me i can go right ahead and stack the level 20 one on top for 9 extra damage. Mages alone can't do this :p). Thus, even if we had the shammy buff that didnt normally stack with shielding, we could cast it on ourselves and get the benefits anyway. And trust me, I can draw near as much agro as the MT. Bards need the AC and HP more than the whiny int casters, maybe even a bit more than the clerics. Not to mention it's a nice offhand weapon even if we can't DA.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 01 2001 at 5:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Slash does better damage anyway then blunt. :P
#Anonymous, Posted: May 08 2001 at 3:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Paladins own warriors? stop kidding yourself, as much as you would like to believe this warriors can out melee a paladin any day, what are you gonna do blind him and run off and heal yourself? good luck with that one.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 10 2001 at 3:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah, lots of warriors use the out-melee argument when talking with paladins/shadowknights. Yes, it's true, but a paladin/shadowknight will own a warrior in pvp.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 11 2001 at 5:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well IM a warrior and I OWN paladins on a regular basis, only paladins with really good melee can beat me just by melee and lay hands

who cares about the effect, the stats are awesome too, any wis/int caster, OR hybrid would love this... dont just look at the effect and think thats the whole weapon.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2001 at 1:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) After reading all the posts here and analyzing the stats and effect, I would have to say that one of 3 classes should get this item. Pally, Ranger, and monk. Sks could use, yes, but they get major shielding off of blood ember armor so the effect on this is fairly useless compared to this in the hands of one of the three classes listed above. But, since we all KNOW that pallys and rangers are weak and useless, this item should go to the monk. They can use their epic and this at the same time... This item needs to go to the MNK!
RE: After reading all the posts...
# May 10 2001 at 3:37 PM Rating: Decent
Arch shielding is much much better then major shiedling. Everyone would really want this, but would likely goto a guilds main tanks/pullers on raids first for the effect.

Apparently you've never had a right clickable item such as JBoots. You don't have to be a caster to use the effect. The effect is nearly insta-castable with a very, very short timer. Sometimes it gets interrupted if I'm running, sometimes not. However, it does NOT stack with Focus of Spirit, so it's only usefull when grinding exp and not raiding unless you need another insta-cast item like against Sontalak. While the damage/delay ratio isn't as good as I had hoped when compared to how much of a pain it can be to take Dain down, it's still a very fine weapon I'm glad to have gotten.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 23 2001 at 7:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why would a melee get first dibs on this item? i understand it has +10 str, but what about the +13 int and wis as well as the +25 mana, plus the effect is one i still use as a 52 heretic which would then free up a slot or at least keep me from having to sit and mem this spell again. In my opinion this is a WONDERFUL replacement for that stein of mogguk/gbs/drachnid thyxl which ever u may happen to be holding
BECAUSE your ignorant
# Apr 25 2001 at 2:37 PM Rating: Default
Mr Anonymous....

The reason this item would NEVER goto a caster is that the weapons damage ratio is one of the very best in the game....! you could weild 2 Ykesha's and not do as much damage as this wepon....! Take away all the Stats... the wepon is UBER for melee.. given the stats...! is it massivly uber.

How many Necros Melee at lvl 52...?

#Anonymous, Posted: May 10 2001 at 10:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bah, he is not ignorant but I have watched the UBER guild on our server whoop dains rear repeatedly. Only ones to do it too. They gave these bad boys to a bard, and to monks. With monk epic haste and this **** can you image the damage?

although caster's don't melee, i would probably start to if i got this! 14 24 is good for a warrior and this is a casters' item. the INT, mana and all the resistances are super good for a caster, this thing rocks!!!
How do clickable buffs work?
# Apr 18 2001 at 11:58 PM Rating: Default
Can you activate this weapon for its arch shielding, then switch to your epic and still keep the arch shielding buff?

This hammer
# Mar 23 2001 at 6:54 AM Rating: Decent
I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure this is that odd looking hammer that Trindade oftentimes carries on Torv. He's a warrior btw. (sorry all you hybrids out there) I'm sure the AC helps him out quite a bit too. The weapon is good for anyone. I'm not sure there is anyone who wouldn't like to have it but I would suspect that only the melee's will be getting it any time soon.

Although it's not the best 1-handed Blunt weapon in the game, it is supposed to be as good as it is:) It is only attainable by the most powerful guilds, using tactics and strategy that would show experience worthy of an item like this. The mob that drops it is well over level 63, Dain Frostreaver, King of the Coldain Dwarves. It also does not drop every time. It's NO DROP which further limits the extent to which it will be spread. There are servers on which the Dain has not even been killed yet. Verant really isn't all bad:) They like us to be happy, and evidently this makes [us] happy=)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 02 2001 at 12:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) it wont get nerfed cuase of its no drop status and that is very hard to get with out uber guild help and they would take it =) so it will not be nerffed
