We get the **** end of the stick on almsot everythign :( everyone fights for gore and Talendore we never even see cause our F hole MBers are there 2 secs after hs pops every friggin time. The only good thing is our Diet Armor. It does kind of rock :)
I agree karana is a bit over looked. Lonely being the oddball pally) I have the Fiery Defender though, and it is a great weapon, good stats, good ratio, good resists, good proc. It was definitely a pain in the *** to get. Plenty of other pallies passed me in level while I waited to get the pieces, but on the other hand, there are very few running around.

I just went to hate this past Saturday. Had an amazing lizard monk pulling. Did the corruptor with 3 groups, the monk pulled him from half way across the zone. <hint> mobs on the second floor are tougher but have a smaller agro range. Good luck to all Tunare lovin pallies doing this quest I'm going to PoG this week end to pick up my sword, soon as I lvl >)

Tierman I must dissagree with you on the Str issue. Yes High Elves suffer a great deal in Strength. However I think people when making a char make one fatal mistake. The dont look beyond the here and now. I Just got my Natures Defender Last Sunday on the Tunare Server. I have alts but my Paladin is my main char. I picked a Half Elf char because I too at the time looked at over all strength. I stayed elf because of Natures Defender, other wise I too probably would have went with a dwarf. Now that im high level and im suffering for lack of WIS. Half Elves take a hit in the WIS catagory. If I could remake him and keep all my stuff I would go with High Elf without question. Your arguement is Str. Ok you have a point High Elves give up Str for a high WIS score. However with the peeps i run around with there is hardly a rare occastion i dont have 255 Str :) Gota love shammys. With my Half Elf and all the HIGH end speels I now cast im suffering in the amount of mana. As most pallys are aware its very hard to balance AC/Str/Wis You almost have to have the most uber of things to do this. If you go for all out wis for spell casting in other races I guarantee you will suffer in the AC/STR department. If you go for all out AC/STR...you will be casting very few spells. So in the balance of things I would go with High Elf. They start out with 100 + Wis as it is...just dump your 20 pts into str so you can handle your armor early on. As you get items to Balance the AC/Wis/Str are i think you will find your self alot more balance rather than leaning one side of the coin or other.
As Far as the weapon I think you will all find its very worth it. I also hope that VI will make some of these weaps for the other Pally races as well. Ive see alot of 51, 52, 53, 54 Pallys that already have their Firey Defenders. I had to wait until 55 to get this baby. I didnt even want to try for FD. This sword IMHO is better than FD anyway. As and example im 56 in Kael, in the arena. I had a warrior and a monk in my group both higher in level than I was. Both of them were fighting to keep the agro off of me. I wasn't taunting, or stunning. This weaps raw damange and Proc was all the taunt i needed. Not that i wanted the Agro..It just ended up that way.
Im glad I made my Elven Pally. This sword is everything it has said to be...and more.

Dunno about you 2 but str dosent really mean crap to me. i end up finding my self hurting in the hp section from lack of stam then anything, and in the later game HP/AC is the god. Mana is a nice iceing, but generally unless your casting heals like a mother, you do not need that much. With KEI i have like 177 wis and that is enough to get by.

Pallinn your right, at the beginning I really hated how my starting str was, but even when I started playing I always thought about how it will be later down the road and thats the only thing that really matters, not your starting stats, your a noob, mobs are easy on you ;). Now level 57 I have more str than anything and most of the time I have at least 200 str in groups and on raids my str is always maxed. So far max hit is 221, and 198 199 double =).

Dwarfs, by far have the best starting stats for Paladins
High Elfs...not so much. 65 base Str isn't much to brag about and if you're smart you'll put twenty points into Str at creation and start with a miserable 85, and good luck supporting that full suit of bronze armor in your early days.
I play a High Elf because I hate being short, but if I had to do it again, I'd prolly create a dorf instead.

Yet another thing to make me want to start over... To think 2+ years ago, picking Karana as a diety for my Half-Elf Pally didn't seem like a bad idea...

Months ago, when I was just a noob wearing banded, I saw this sword, and every level I gained was one level closer to this weapon, well today I finnaly recieved it. Good luck to all you other Tunarean Paladins, this is well worth the wait. BTW I had this MQed with a 55 ranger, so if anyone is wondering it is possible. Also when I hailed him I got no response, just said "I am a knight" he responded with quest then said "I will assist you" and gave me quest, ranger didnt so I dont really think it matters, just be sure to hail him at least.

You can bash with ND only after you get the 2 Hand Bash AA discipline. =/

well the subject line is pretty self explanatory, but what makes your faction with the Guardian of Takish better?
Today Tunare smiled upon me, as I received this weapon =) I love it so much, and it looks SO GOOD. It was really easy once you get the mob in hate. My guild spent 4 days there, and today we murdered the 3 Corrupted mobs. The Unicorn is the hardest, but went down w/ 9 people. So far the best combo ive had has been Proc:150, hit 140, 178, Proc 150, hit 168, 182. 2 Swings, and I did over 900dmg. God I love this weapon, thank you Tunare.

P.S I went to the quest giver, and hail him, and got no responce.. kinda wierd but said "I am a Knight" and "I will assist you" then turned in the stuff, got the weapon just fine.(Con Amiable)

I could barely believe my eyes when I first saw this sword. Then I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw my HEF PAL of Tunare was one of the two that could use it! I can certainly understand how not being allowed a weapon of this magnitude would upset some people (okay, a LOT of people), but if there's anything I've learned about EQ is that the balance is constantly evolving. Sometimes you get the uber MOB, sometimes the uber MOB gets you.
IMHO, Verant doesn't a great job with the game, especially considering the variety of people they're trying to cater to. I can't help but roll my eyes when people post about how upset they are that Verant did this, or how stupid Verant is for doing that, yet they still continue to play the game that has set the pace for all MMORPG to come. Lighten up guys, if we spent half the time in-game that we do complaining, we'd all be level 60 by now...
Congrats to all those Tunare Pallies out there who have worked hard enough to have this weapon! I'll join you someday!!

Hey there fellow paladins. I was just wondering if any browsing this board can tell me for a fact whether or not any HALF-ELF paladins on the CT server have obtained this weapon. A Tunare worshipping Half-elf paladin is even more rare than erudite paladins I think. Anyways, I ask because I will hope to be finishing this quest tomorrow and after ~50 hours of gaming to hit 55 since I got the skull, I want to know how many other people on Cazic-thule who are Half elfs have this.
Who knows, It may be a server first as all of you out there who I have spoken with said "I think there is someone, but forget their name and am not sure."
So I am guessing Someone has it on the server already, im just waiting for some of you more well known halfy paladins to come on so I can harass. Please post if you have this weapon, or if you know any Half-elfs on CT that have it and their name please.

Ended up getting this baby From the Guardian in PoG last night. Its pretty damn awesome, if only the dmg/dly was a little better it would put the epic to shame... Oh well, I still think it is one of the best looking weapons in the game so im happy ;)
Also, found out I am probably the 3rd person or so on Cazic-thule to finish the quest. Wasnt first, but oh well....

I have just recently received the fleshless skull for this weapon, and am about to go kill the corrupted mobs in WL. I know you cannot use this weapon til 55, but I was wondering if you could receive it before 55 and couldnt use it, or if you tried to turn the items in you get nothing.

Yeah, ok, ive heard enough complaining. All you retards with human and dwarf pallies crying cuz you cant get this and your having trouble gettings the 2 books of scale. ITS AN EPIC QUEST ITS SUPPOSED TO BE THAT DIFFICULT. If it was easy, it would just be a quest. This is not an epic, not really. It does have near epic stats...but the quest is just too easy to call it an epic. Also, reading through the boards ive heard a lot of comments about high elves being the worst choice for paladins because of their low strength. Well, i play a 54 high elf pally on Zebuxoruk and ill tell ya right now i have more STR than most warriors i know. 168 unbuffed. The only warrior i know with more has 171. Low strength? i think not. There is no real disadvantage to the race, except some may have lower stats (and look a lot worse) than others. My original intention was to be a human paladin, but when i saw how incredibly gay humans looked, i changed to high elf. and because of weapons like this, Im happy with my choice. So...recap...shut the hell up. Doing your epic is hard because its an epic, dont cry because someone else gets off easy with something like this, and dont BS about other races cuz they all have their advantages and disadvantages. thank you for your time.

A funny thing happened to us while we were completing the Pheno Quest for the umpthinth time. The Ranger not only pulled all THREE giants for the quest but he pulled the Courrupted Panther too. We only had two groups and killed them all, 59 chanters ROXXOR. We decided to then take on the Faun and the Unicorn. All were pulled seperatly by a 60 lvl Ranger. Don't know if the ranger being 60 lvl had anything to do with pulling them seperate. We took no loses and the Paladin got all the drops.
Yesterday, we did a Guild only Hate Raid (4 groups) levels ranging from 49 to 60. Went to the second floor and killed the Corrupter of Life with only one loss that of the cleric who healed the Monk when he pulled it. The monk FD in front of us and the clerics healing caused the Corrupter to agro and kill her. The fight proceded perfectly and the paladin got what he needed.
Not actually to tough and we don't consider ourselves as one of the top guilds. We had 4 clerics, only one with their Epic (59 lvl), two were 56 lvl and one was 49.
Good luck Paladins.

oh yah it is a good weapon and i would like to use it because i have a 53 dwf pally but look i can't oh well look there is more weapon's out there let's try and get that weapon and not get this other wep norfed

For the 2nd Paladin who posted I feel your pain, I was a lvl 52 paladin who gave up on the epic completely. Unfortunaltly I made a human so i cant be Tunare so I cant have the Nature's Defender. So my solution for you is, delete your non-Tunare Paladin and make a Tunare one LOL thats what I'm doing. LOL

I have a 52 Paladin who like many Paladins may never get his Epic piece. Like Many Paladins I know I have been to many Dragon Raids and have never been given the oportunity to roll on a book ..Even when one droped which wasn't close to common in my experience.
I don't mind the countless hours of preparation, but I do mind the fact that this Dragon takes so long to respawn when there is a backlog of Paladins 10 deep wanting this rare drop that you need at least 25 people to help you get.
This means you have to belong to an Uber guild and get it awarded (if it drops) , or you need to go to many raids (waiting for respawn time of course)..Ooops whats that your level 53 now? You tried to hard did you? Can't fight those dragons any more..But don't worry now we get to fight even more Uber Dragons that require more people and more Uber Guilds..Oh you don't belong to an Uber Guild..?
Well if you are an Elf derivitive of the Tunare Ilk you can get a BETTER weap than the Epic..If not you are just Veranted!

Tunare make ups 15% of ALL players on all servers in EverQuest.
Karana followers make ups only 6% of all players.
Tunare is the most followed diety in EQ. That would be why Verant make them these quests.

The is the best looking sword in the game IMO. Has anyone seen it? Its so fine looking, I wish there were more like it.

High Elf Paladins have low Str and Sta ..
Half Elf paladins have the worst Wis...
they make an item to balance it somewhat and make them wait until 50+
stop complaining if your paladin can't wear..
P.S. they have a shield for erudites so no complaints from you either :P

Omg, I had to reply to this one...being a paladin, I didn't actually get that jealous till this remark.
But if you didn't notice yet - Half Elfs make the second best paladin class in the game!
Its Humans/Euridites/High Elfs that suck for pallies.
Now I'm a Dwarf, and this weapon is diguesting for how easy the quest is. I just hope they add more equipment like this to the game, but leave out High Elves and Halfy's...
