Is the Droga part of this quest still working. I am find a lot of trouble getting guild mates to help me with this part of the quest since the re-vamp. Some are saying the interrogator's drop is now broken. Any truth to this?
It isn't in Droga, tho it may have been in the past. It is now in the corner of Frontier Mountains almost to the Burning Woods zone. I have gotten all but the last turn in for the steel shackle now.
My monk camped down there right now, logged out to find info, cuz there is no interrogator there is a janitor which i cannot kill in the cell with the broken door, and in the west cell is an npc sarnak questgiver named Asmodin something, he is light blue killed him twice and he instantly respawns back in the cell, dunno how it was b4 the Revamp but thats what it looks like now, am wondering if the Janitor is a PH for the interrogator or if the Copper key drop has moved somewhere else, oh in the east cell is a pottery wheel for some reason.
I have gotten my shackle of tyn and went back and got me the stuff for a second shackle of steel. Having the assist of a druid for the foraging and tracking IS an incredible assist on these I will admit. But still, even with the druid, the Skulking Brutling choppers are no fun what so ever. They were, by far, the largest bottleneck of the quest. There were a few pygmie brutes running around and tons of goblins... that i kept dead. But I think, if you do have assist of a tracker... keep the non goblin/iksar dead. I am fairly certain that the ph that I killed for the brutling was a sonicwolf something or other, or a bruetling of another name. I killed many goblins but more goblins spawned... but when one of the other mobs died... there were usually just 2 or 3 on iksar/goblin mobs up in the sw corner area... if you concentrate on these guys... i am confident you will get quicker spawn.
The rest is cake. for the droga part... get shrink machine and some invis potions and a crystaline net (clikable root). I had to kill only one mob in droga... the interrigator. and with root, he got no heals or assist... just he and i... i dropped down and ran through the hidden wall invised and then engaged him... at his half health, i rooted him and continued the abuse.
Got key and went over, freed the slave (got steel shackle) invised and ran out... took all of 10 min maybe.
Actually after doing this quest for a second time myself, I found that the goblin bonecasters are the PH for the skulking brutlings. Not even 1 minute after killing a bonecaster a brutling would appear.
Greetings. This is a sweet quest I think. Granted it took me seemingly forever to get faction, the explorer knife quest did speed things up. Loosing faction with FV, kelethin and kaladim was not good, but i think i can rebuild faction there faster than with cabilis.
To start my day, i got a couple of buffs from enc and pali from my guild in nexus, ran to cabilis, drank a damage skin potion and did the test of agility easily. Then busted it to tims deep, via swamp book, sro, oasis swim to chessboard and did trial of patience... buffs lasted long enough for the trip and fights... woot... now just need the tome for my new bracer )....
Then... I had not been in Dalnir or Droga before yesterday. My 51 human monk had a larkin's mask forinvis... but only 3 charges were left once i was done in dalnir. This cost me my life. But the CR was not difficult and I got me some invis potions while i was in town.
Dalnir is a pain if you dont have invis. Mobs were green but many harmtouch. And a lot of 251dd, 231dd, etc etc and a few lifetaps eats up the hp. So I invised and hopped down to the third floor to the Crusader room (as mentioned to do on Monkly-business quest links). From here it was cake to single kill the stuff there. The penkeeper spawned after one kill in the Crusader room, followed the next spawn by the bamboo bo stick guy. I didnt loose a bub of health on killing the singles. Then i invised and ran on out. Was surprizingly simple.
Droga, I killed the first gobby up top to see how I would fare in here. I had maps and 3shot invis and a shrink machine. I invised up and tenatively ran on down. Fd to look around in certain spots and get my bearings. I dropped down into the cell and penkeeper was right there looking at me. I got my nerve up and popped him. He ran and i fd instead of follow. He was healed and buffed and came back. Then i stood and popped him again. The buffs must have given him confidence so he stayed a bit too long before running off. He dropped the other key. I had only 1 invis left and knew i needed it to get out.. bad. so i decided to kill the interrigator, next cell over, to keep him out of the fray... well he is a caster and got some good hits in.. i was doted and he kept casting... i decided to fd and of course it failed 2 times in a row... wouldnt you know it.
So as i ran around pok, could not find invis potions there, so ran to SH and got me 6 of them, got me a club, hat and gloves with resists out of bank, back to pok. 43 shaman was there buffing for donations, so i had her hook me up and set off for OT, FM, Droga. At zone in i shrank and invised and busted it to bottom, smoothe as glass. Dropped to cell and 2 task masters in there... ran through fake wall to corpse and there was my newfound arch nemesis the interrigator. He was apparently feeling his oats about killing me once so he stuck around after i looted equip and commenced to seek revenge. I didnt even loot him. Invised and found my slave. jumped in there AND HAILED HIM! Dont giveyour stuff to the wrong guy here... bad mistake. He follows the text mentioned on Monkly-business. Gave him the stuff and got my shackle of steel. Bragged to anyone within earshot, on my friends list and guild. Invised and high tailed it out, not caring about my death... dont know many clerics that like the idea of going there for rezz.
Both of these were simple with INVIS POTIONS AND MAP FEATURE!!!! at 11pp per pop for quick cast invis you cannot go wrong.. buy you 8 or 9 of them for the trip. Set your faded maptool background to 10percent and leave it up as you run... is like a piolt's HUD. Down load you some maps from Eqatlas or eq-toolbox... invaluable.
Hope this helps someone down the road.
Again, I soloed all of it (foraging and tracking a bit with my druid on same account by running each to each zone i needed item in sitting and logging monk to kill/loot). I asked for assist on last cr just to speed things up, but as it turned out... someone else would have just thrown an extra something to go wrong. I did fine with the invis potions.
But think i will need assist of evac on getting my tome.
You CANT substitute the WF for the Robe of the Whistling fists when doing the Celestial Fists quest. If you hand him the WF he just hands it back to you. Sorry, still gotta get chummy with the softskins. :P
It is also rumored that for the Celetial Fists quest, the Whistling Fists may be used in place of the Robe of the Whistling Fists. If this proves to be true, then all you Iksar will no longer be forced to get all chummy with those Softskins!
Ok, I was lookin at shackle quests for my monk on SZ, and it says the shackle of scale is harder then this one....but this one is much better. Anyone mind explaining this to me plz?
Ok i am sick and tired of people whining that these quests take to long to do and it is not worth it, ever think that verant may add a quest and give u a even BETTER bracer not to say u also need these to get ur epic. And these are great bracers and a great sign of that u are dedictaed.
25 Bard Tuvien Whistling Wolf 17 Monk Cavix Southpaw
man why are u all arguing i have done all my quests up to shackle of bronze in 3 days playing about 4-5 hours a day once i got fingered skellie rest of fingers then courier and then intact choppers in about 20 mins (inclucing zonign and running time) starting shackle of steel when i lvl up some more on lvl 50 preferable want to be a bit higher for droga so less adds and more resists
I was about to start my shackle of steel quest when the Shackle of Tynnonium came into game. I was doing them just because I love quests.
Good luck to all the others doing this, I am now about to start collecting the sarnak courier fist and Kwinn's head to finish redoing the Shackle of Steel since I continued on and got teh Tynnonium(and man do I love it!)

i agree that if people who dont like the quest just shouldnt do it. obviously they must think its a worth while item or they would not bother complaining about the work it takes to get it. anyway i have mine and i do still use it. just thought i should mention these shackle quests have nothing to do with the monk epic like (i think) the previous poster was saying.
wrong whsitling fists are the iksars version on epic they introduced it to make it easier for iksars instead of having to get lots of faction and i see why 12dmg 20dly weapon plus all usual stats of human monks epic is much better and if u r bored then u can do ur human monk epic and get twice the stats
Ya im pretty sick and tired too of all those lousy excuses of monks, who are too LAZY to do this quest. If you have the shackle of Steel, this quest is a piece of CAKE!!!!! I did the quest in one day at lvl 48. Now i have my shackle and im working on getting my WF :)
Waaaaaay too much time consumed in this quest for this garbage. In the time it takes you to do this quest, at the level it takes, you could've made a whole lot more money and bought something a lot better. AC 9 on your wrists? for monks? *HINT* silver moon CHEST piece has an ac of 12... ever wonder why? AC isn't all that important to a monk, we get natural AC and we aren't supposed to be taking hits anyway! The sta/str 5 I like, but not for this many questing hours. Definately one of the worst quests VI has come up with to date
WHAT??? You are freaking retarded if you dont think AC is important to a monk. AC is THE most important thing. I have focused on AC at teh sacrifice of all us and I can solo better than the stat following monks, I take almost no dmg. I have asked tons of level 50-60 monks and all of them have told me ac > hp > mr > stats, and it has not failed me once, the only item on me I sacrificed ac for was my fbss, and that is it. everything else is by what gives me hte highest ac. this item is PERFECT for us. and I still plan on getting mine.
I completed my Shackle of Steel quest last night. Is it the greatest thing in the world? Probably not. Am I wearing it? You better believe it. Yes there's 9 ac, but there's also sta (HP) and MR on there which are both great for monks.
However I didn't camp for days, and days....and days to get the item for it's stats. I got the item because A) It looks really cool sitting there on my forearms and B) How many Iksar Monks are out there and took the time to do this quest? I've never seen a single one in all of my 40 levels, or 51 levels of cleric. This is a status symbol. I am now a monk of the 4th rung. I'd rather have the symbol on my arm than the 10+ levels I could have had instead.
I congratulate VI on making an item (did i mention .1 wt?) that works excellent for monks, and has such a nice status on it. Thank you!
It is possible for an iksar to get good faction in the overthere. Although you can not do it solo it is possible. First thing you need to do is collect a trainload of sarnak war braids. Next duel a 44 plus necro just so he/she can cast ignite bones on you. At which point the darkie quest mob will con indifferent to you. lather rinse repeat as necessary until you are indifferent in the overthere.
Apparently, everyone is forgetting another Iksar ballancing factor, they along with trolls take the longest time to level due to a racial experience modifier, making Iksar and Troll players work that much harder/longer to make the same levels the other races are aiming for.
For all the humans whining that they can't use this, ever hear of a granite bracer?
AC 5 Str+4 Sta+7 wt 0.8, ALL non-iksar can wear even casters, and it DROPS off a mob, compare the maybe 10-20 hours (I'm guessing, I got one waiting for the Jboots guy in Rathe Mts), to the HUNDREDS of hours that iksar monks have to put in to this quest.. they have to do mana of the shackle quests before this one MULTIPLE times, many of the items foraged (you never had a good time till you been foraging for a quest item)
Sure it's not 10 ac and uber stats, quit whining at least you can buy this one if you got money to burn.

Maybe thats not what you meant but im sure they are better than just "treant fists". And btw, keep flaming ) gives me something to do while the servers are down.
I am so depress ... i did alllllll the shackles quest ... was at the last step .. i had shackle of bronze and copper and coppernickle key .. i saw a `crazed iksar slave' then another named iksar ... then i Finally saw 'a iksar slave' .. i was so happy ... i turn my 3 Last pieces results of sooooo many 100 hours quest ... and he answers `This is nothing i need but i will keep it ` !!!!!!!!! ... it appeared there are different INWARDLY kind of 'a iksar slave' !!! i cannot say howwwwww happy i am now ... :(((( i tried to figure out why would Verant do some 'INWARDLY' different 'iksar slave' but im sorry i could not find an answer ... setting up a trap like that at the very last step of a quest man ... this is sooooooooooooo mean ... did it enhance game play ? no ... and now VI wants me to turn in my Robe of the Whistling Fist to get the epic quest ? ... yea right like i trust you now ... :(
well the quest guy asks you to look for veltar and by hailing the slaves you will eventualy find one that responds different and will tell you he is veltar. next time you look at a spoiler sight for the answer take the info with a grain of salt. The quest is fine and VI didnt trick you its the spoiler that wasnt clear.
Jaw hit floor... I couldn't believe that after all these weeks of toil... after days spent in Kurn's Tower slaughtering Furbies and Skeletons (another 3.1" finger, BAH!)... after hours of foraging in Warsliks Woods (another bixle berry pie, Yum... but BAH!)... swimming from Master Rinmark's island to the Firepot Room under the water in Tim Deep praying "Please Faydedar, don't be up... and if you are up, remember that Iksar don't taste all that good."... I now wear the Shackle of Steel on my wrist.
Yes, this is a sweet item that shines a ray of light and dare I even say JOY for a class/race combo that is born into pain and disciplin. This item will never leave my wrist for as long as I play this game. Nice item, yes... pride, even more so.
The Dalnir bit to get the nickle key, not that difficult... as monks, yes, we know Dalnir well long before we step foot in it as it is the first "Monk Mecca" that we dream of camping since our broodling days. Droga on the other hand can be a different beast. SPOILER AHEAD, proceed at your own risk.
Droga group consisted of following: 55 Druid, 52 Shammy, 47 Druid, 45 Monk.
Invis and Sow before entering Droga (know your zone well or bring a map). Run straight to Jail, do not pass Go, do not stop to beat on the Goblins do not collect 200 plat. Head into back room, behind wooden door. Blink twice when 47 Druid's invis drops. Keel all gobs in the back room. Heal, med, Shammy shrinks party, Druids recast invis. Run through locked iron doors, no key required when you are small. In Cell area, hang a left and take over the far cell. Pull singles until area is clear. Go talk to "an Iksar Slave" who responds with the correct line when hailed. Kill his crazy PH if neccessary. Remind non-tails to stay out of iksar cell :-). Do the good deed; free your fellow swiftail brother; receive the shackle of steel; dance a jig; invite your friends back to your place for some roasted froglok, some cold Cabilis Pale Ale and a few Bloody Kromzek shots.
Now, finally I have some time to give some of those Velious zones a hearty Iksar "Heya, have you seen a Lizard's fist up close?" Only thing is, I'll miss those good Froglok BBQs, but I hear that Holgresh kinda "tastes like Froglok"... can anyone confirm this?
Your Servant, Jahrael <Infinite Jest> Xegony 45th level of mastery of the Screaming Nut Punch (at 60th level I hear it has a chance of outright killing your opponent ;-p)
Master Rinmark is the quest giver for this most awesome Monk Bracer. He is "an Iksar Master" who stands on a mountain top in the Timerous Deep. And has been known to kill Faydedar, the dreaded sea monster in the area, with his bare hands when the foolish dragon disturbed him from his meditations.
So look not in our home of Cabilis to begin this quest.
Also my kin, be angered not by the softskins whining at this our reward for many moons of questing and toil. Show honor to our caste in the silence you keep. Their easy life of being well received throughout Norrath has made some (not all) soft and spoiled, wanting even this gift that only the most dedicated of our caste will attain and spiteful toward the pain we endure as we pursue the path of our way.
Temper your mind, body and spirit well my kin.
Your Servant, Jahrael <Infinite Jest> Xegony
P.S. /ooc on Xegony the Best of the Best Monk Tournament was indeed won by Minghiss the Iksar Monk of the 59th Level who bested a 60th Level "non-tail" that day. Minghiss is an honorable monk and an "old-school" player and I am proud to call him brother.
Well, it seems people are arguing over something ridiculous again... OK Mister Human monk... you just go FORAGE all the items needed in order the get the previous shackle... you see? it wouldnt matter if you could use it b/c you could never get it! (yes, not all of the items are nd, but some are... and they have to be combined in a nd container)
Yes. This item is very much worth the effort even if was not the best monk bracelet(Although I think it is the best). A couple of other games I have played (Ultima Online and Diablo II) I was a powergamer. With powergaming comes no satisfaction and eventually you get bored of the game. EQ offers something different. It offers Tons of fun quests. I plan to enjoy my gaming experience by completing quests rather than be a power gamer and move on to the next game in a year. -Zerxil
when asking if an item is worth the effort, ask your self if there's any other item you'd rather have in that slot.. and if there is.. how hard is it to get? why not go get it? :) even as a human monk.. who can wear the hero bracer(damn heavy thing it is) and vox bracers, and whatever plate-type bracers that iksar can't, I'd still rather have this one :)
Dark Rust bracer weighs: 3.0 Shackle of Steel weighs: 0.1
Do you really think a monk is going to go with an AC 10, 3.0 bracer over an AC 9, 0.1 bracer given monk weight restrictions and the superior stat buffs on the shackle?
#Anonymous,
Posted:Jan 25 2001 at 10:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Iksar should be able to be a monk or shamen because that makes no sence... the reason humans cant be shamans is that they are to civilized and the same goes for all the races with the ability to play int casters, then outa nowhere we gota race that can play the most int based caster class ( Necro) and a damn int based hybrid (SK) so then all of a sudden they can be shamens? Monk or shaman makes sence... not both.
+ Regeneration (4 a tick till 20, then 6, and then 8 later on while sitting)
+ Limited night-sight (It's not a lot)
+ Forage (Handy but not a make-or-break skill)
+ Innate AC Bonus
+ The Ladderquest Bracers (as in you need the lesser ones to get the better ones)
- Slower attack speed on Fists compared to Humans
- Faction that makes them KoS almost everywhere without EXCESSIVE work to fix it, and PermaKoS in many places (Halas, Grobb, Neriak, Oggok, OT, etc)
- Lower STR/STA than Human Monks
- Gear restrictions (No Symbols of Loyalty to Vox for example)
Human Monks have:
+ Good Faction, can go into 1) Qeynos, 2) Erudin, 3) Freeport, 4) Kelethin, 5) Felwithe, 6) Rivervale, 7) Ak'Anon, 8) Kaladim, 9) Firiona Vie by default. With work they can ALSO goto Cabilis.
+ Slightly better STR/STA
+ Only normal Class gear restrictions, no race specific ones
+ Ability to travel more easily, hey you don't have to worry about some wandering NPC deciding you need to die as much
+ Cooler looking Instill Doubt. Hey, it counts for something :)
+ You can actually quest for the Robe of the Lost Circle
So, does Verant really hate Humans? Nah. I like my Iksar monk, but humans are far from screwed over. Hell, my main is a Human Cleric, and people insist that Humans suck, yet my Cleric is equal to any other on the server. It's all about the player, not the character.
Halas, navent figure that one out yet, but to go along with Nitramous, my Iksar monk cons "ally" in Neriak. =P Oh, and about not actually being able to "quest" for RotLC, i didnt have any problems there either. =P x2
My Iksar monk wanders around Halas and Neriak just fine. Halas rogues aren't fixed yet, but I can bank in Halas with a little care. Freeport and Qeynos were the first major cities I fixed. Casters in Qeynos still hate me, so a little care there is needed, since they wander a bit. Rivervale is happy with me except for the clerics, so just have to be a little careful if I want to use the Kithicor zone in or out. I get along great in Highpass. I can bank in Felwithe, but there's some NPCs in the city that still don't care for me. I'm OK in lots of Kelethin and can bank there, but the bards there don't care for me (although bards elsewhere in the world are OK with me). Although the goblins hate me, I can bank in Runnyeye. I don't remember how much of Kaladim is happy with me, but I can go around quite a bit there. I've recently killed enough goblins so that I'm OK in Firiona Vie city.
Oggok and Grobb are fixable with effort, but I haven't done these yet.
Not every NPC in most of the cities is happy with me, but I can avoid the ones that are trouble.
I've basically written off Overthere (don't imagine I'll be killing enough dragons soon to fix that), and besides Kaesora and some other places trash that anyway.
Many of these factions I would not have attempted to fix had I not been a monk and able to sneak turn ins, and feign out if something went wrong.
Iksars shouldn't be monks and shamen? Iksars are unbalanced? Sheesh...exactly how petty and idiotic are you people?
Iksar society is beautifully designed, folks. The mysteries of each class of iksar are fully explained, and the interaction of all parts of iksar society are clear and simple. We were once a mighty and civilized people, deeply versed in the mysteries of arts: we built great cities and conquered an entire continent. Great statues of our people still stand, triumphantly raising their swords toward heaven. Have you not seen them?
Alas, our society has fallen into decay, and our empire has crumbled, and in the end we have been driven back into a single ruined city while our ancient monuments and tombs are overrun by softskins and sarnak vermin and goblins. Alas, Babylon!
Some trace of our old pride, our ancient traditions still remain. We retain our love of Cazic Thule, and for his sake we study the mysteries of necromancy: both necromancers and shadowknights live among us. We retain our ancient love of war, blood and pain: both warriors and martial artists are still born among us. And we have learned some of the natural arts of the less civilized peoples, as our own civilization has crumbled: shamen are now born and raised among us, as they never were before.
OOC, I must add this: the people who say iksars are "unbalanced" are the ones who have never played one. C'mon, folks--how would you like to be a warrior or a shadowknight WHO CAN NEVER WEAR PLATE? Do you realize that iksars are barred from wearing and using at least 50% of the game's coolest items, simply because of their race? Do you realize exactly how many tedious hours of factioning are required before an iksar can go ANYWHERE but Kunark or Velious?
I'm a member of clan Rex, on the Innoruuk server. We are a six-person family of iksars, all with the same last name: we have risen together from level 1 and we will be together until level 60. We represent all walks of iksar life: our group consists of one warrior, one shadowknight, one necromancer, one monk, and two shamen. Anyone who says that "lizards suck" has never seen us in action!
All of us have worked hard, compensating as best we can for the weaknesses of our race and accentuating our strengths whenever possible. If other groups would do the same, any party could easily tear apart its enemies as we do, whether its members were all humans, all dark elves, all ogres, trolls, dwarves, gnomes, or halflings.
I've heard a lot of stupid b*tching from other players about various class/race combinations, but whenever I checked the facts I always found that the whiners simply hadn't bothered to try very hard. The problems with EQ are almost never with the design of a race or its character classes, folks--none of them suck, although some are more difficult than others. The problem, as I see it, is not the character--it doesn't suck, you do.
If you can't get max performance out of an Erudian paladin or a half-elf druid, it's because you're not player enough to handle it. If you have no imagination and the work ethic of a sponge--stop blaming Verant for your inadequacies. It's pathetic.
I want to start off saying, Very nice job Raptora.
I kind of sound like someone from Verant at this point, but no class is better from the other, they all have their Pro's and Con's. Not to say humans are a bad race to play, but to me they are dull, agnostic race, playing a human kinda takes all the good and bad things and mixes them together. where as say Iksar Monk, you have your very strong points and your very bad points, no half and half. you can say the same if you play a human cleric, i myself would think a high elf would be a better choice due to the wisdom, but humans areare easier to play and are liked better on norrath. but anyway before i get off topic about monks, Those who think iksar are a bad race have never played one. i garentee if you put enough time, effort, and pride into your character (not just raising him for the sheer joy of being stronger then everyon) i'm sure in the end you will enjoy an iksar better then a human. I myself play on the Luclin server, at the monk Best of the Best the majority and also the winner was a human, but the most interesting and most liked characters were the iksar. so dont go badmouthing us just because we seem "unbalanced". i want to see some human park his **** in Highpass or Crushbone for a week and kill nothing but orcs just to raise faction.

#Anonymous,
Posted:Jan 29 2001 at 10:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) maybe the point of it all is verant took away the game balance in the iksar all together.
#Anonymous,
Posted:Feb 21 2001 at 10:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) That's funny you should say races don't mix shamans with int-casters. If that's true, why can ogres and trolls be both shamans and SKs? SK's are int-casting hybrids... The reason Iksar can be shamans is... they aren't druid material, and they aren't cleric types either. They have a whole continent... what would a group be without SOME type of healer?
It depends on how you see a Necro, as a bookworm with theoretic knowledge about the dead or a mystic with runes and powders that summons the dead with chants and dances (like a Voodoo priest for example).
** seperate thought and point. verant did make iksar available to play and use. those who took advantage, congrats and well done.**
Okay. That one made sense. Almost a noble sentiment even.
** those who did not, you REALLY do have valid complaints vs. verant that should be addressed and not ignored.**
So...those people who DIDN'T take advantage of the Iksar race when Verant released have a valid complaint now? And those people earned the right to complain about Iksar by how...osmosis??
Sounds like typical class-envy whining to me. The analysis of pretty much anyone who complains about another class. If you don't like it, then don't play it. Stomping your feet and throwing a tantrum about it is an excercise in futility, which, if you were truly a veteran, you would know.
And about humans, Verant doesn't hate them at all. Humans are purely average. They weren't made with any enhanced stats or skills, and no fancy frills. Just average. They're the most average. Just like in D&D. Average.
Did anyone see the winners in the monk best of the best? hmm?
See any iksar monks winning? well? The plain answer is no.
In fact the iksar monks pretty much got their collective asses kicked by the so called *weaker* human monks. Odd? Strange? A freak occurence? Surely this could not happen, iksar are so much more powerful and unbalanced! (We will kick your *** next time tho ;)
Human monks have a faster attack rate at higher levels, do u hear iksar monks complaining? Every class has its strengths and weaknesses. Frankly if u havent played both to lvl 60 and pitted yourself against another monk of the opposite race several times in a duel to the death how can you possibly try to say one is better than the other. Why not just enjoy the character you have like I do. There are too many stat freaks in this game and thats a shame, look at your characters good points and stop focussing on the weak ones and your playing experience will be much better I assure you.
And the iksar faction makes the game a lot more difficult. I had to kill goblins none stop for a week before i could go anywhere near FV. Everywhere I go I get attacked, i would love to be able to walk into a city and buy stuff or bank near ec for example, but I cant. I chose Iksar and I live with that choice. Had I chosen a human I would have lived with that too. if you folks are really that bothered, go play an iksar monk to lvl 60 and see for yourself. And stop looking at my tail!
i love my iksar monk. i wouldent play a human monk ever (ive never played a human in any game ever, im a human in RL, why would i play one in a fantasy world :) )
monks in lower lvls have it a hell of a lot harder than humans. we cant just get a sow and run to inthule. or ferrott and get mesh armor and netted armor to start us off with magic hands and feet. no where on kunark can you get magic hands and feet at lvl 1-5.
im happy with my iksar. i think humans look silly as monks, their attacks are puny, nothing like a martial artist, more like a lil weenie kidny, or rabit punching a guy (Tigre strike).
an iksar doesent get that much more AC per lvl than a human. we have it harder across the board (other than seeing at night) we cant wear as many items as you (and dont give me the bs of our shackles. humans have 2 quests headbands and belts. we cant wear eather) we cant wear treant fists, or any other Plate armor.
so to the people whineing iksars are better. Try playing one to atleast lvl 20. WITHOUT TWINKING !!! and see how well you do.
as for magic hands and feet.. Scaled Wolf Hide Gloves is listed as dropping off various goblins in lake of ill omen, http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/item.html?item=1535
you can wear Gem Inlaid Gauntlets which most monks prefer to spending hundreds of hours camping treant fists
hmm.. and what do you need magic attacks for that early anyways? not many wisps or ghouls in kunark...

And look!! I'm contributing to it!! I'm just as bad as all of you whiney people!!

considering how heavy that damn hero bracer is.. I'd actually prefer this one over the hero.. but unlike every single human monk quest, which has both races listed as able to wear.. this iksar one dosen't allow humans to wear it even if we do manage to fix factions and get the quest started... who has a right to whine now?
(sorry if this double posts, page was giving me issues)

All I want to know is why should humans get to wear this based on the fact that we (iksars) can wear the sashes and headbands?? They're not worth crap except to get the robes. Quit complaining, it took me forever just to be allowed in Freeport.
How long it takes a non Iksar to get into Cabilis? About 5 levels at the Sarnak Fort if you're agnostic. I know, my RL roommate plays an Agnostic Dwarven Rogue, and he can buy and sell from Iksar now. =)
I'm warmly to the crusaders as well.. but the shadowknights(who harm touch for in the area of 500ish I believe), and any other faction in the city will eat you alive(I believe the bankers are on necro faction...)
it takes ALOT of bone chips in order to raise the other factions to a level where they won't try to remove your head from your body, somewhere in the area of 5-6K

Man, that bites, iksar monks are MONKS verant should give us a superior faction just like the humans. Oh wait, this is a roleplaying game isn't it...LOL..STOP YOUR WHINING!

Play nice my ***! stick it to the man!
I completed all the quests up to this one, and Master Rinmark told me about a [student]. When had gotten to this point, however, the quest was broken. Just a couple of patches ago Verrant says they fixed the quest so I go back to Master Rinmak and ask him many different ways about his [student] with no luck.
Has anyone already completed up this point when it was broken, then been able to come back and continue? Because I can't. And I'll be damned if I'm going to redo any of those shackle quests.
My congratulations to the broodling who finally confirmed that VI had fixed this quest. This has been on their to-do list for a long time. The shackle seems to be a much higher-end item than the others were, relative to their respective quests' difficulty. Given the level cited for quest completion, one can only hope there are more quests in this line...
