Please update this item link to the Failed Experiment.
Hunters of this mob be wary as this fellow ramages as well as enrages. He can spawn in any spot occupied formerlly by a normal sent, but I have most often seen him as pop in the position closest to the tunnel exit from UD to Castle.
Nice weapon for a lower level, undequipped player. This item is often called for in /ooc when I pull castle mobs for my Upper dog group.
I am pretty sure this drops from "a failed experiment". He looks like a Golem, a little transparent, with odd colors mixed in. I think he spawns near or around Velkator area.
Sounds like a great weapon for my Tier'dal Shadowknight as well, alas I don't have velious and refuse to buy the trilogy since I already have the original, kunark, and luclin. I might have to wield my Sporali Defender blade for many levels.
Bow down before the power of hate!! Azeitona D'Billis Lanys T'Vyl
I can't imagine a SK using this weapon. For a non-duel wielder, the ratio is appaulling. You could get a MoSS alot easier than this and it would seriously own this (and theres ALOT better than MoSS out there). Off an easier mob in the same zone, you could get a sword of pain 19/25 50m instaclick grim aura SK only, ALOT better. Not to mention that, for a SK to get this, he would have to deprive a war/bard/rog of it, and for them, it is quite nice. As a general rule, if a duel wielder can use a 1h weapon, a SK/pal shouldnt; he/she can get better easier.
this ratio is NOT bad, its not the best, but its far from bad. It may not even be that great for risk vs. reward... but its not bad, Its like a CentiShort with a proc... sorta.
k i got one of these its fun its off hand usuable since the delay is too high for a warrior to really taunt with at the top end of the game. Its a 45 point life tap proc yes it can be used with boon..however boon taps dont "stack" with weapon procs. Boon taps are thier own independant proc i think the proc for a booned player is round 37 or 38 at lvl 60 i forget now its been a while since i was booned.
This weapon is obviously a bard weapon if you have a bard in group..its not low enough delay to taunt much the proc isnt a monster taunt either after all its only a 45 pt tap and basically bards dont get so many weapons like this.
It drops off "a failed experiment" who rampages an awful lot but we took him with one group, me tanking and using defencive discipline and the enchanter throwing a rune my way ever time i got down round 1.5 bubs of health giving cleric time to ch. He max hit me fer like 185 with disc but mostly low hundreds so he wasnt that harsh.
I suppose a rogue might find some use for this thing in his off hand but honestly..theres a bundle of far superior options out there. Especially if they are of the correct level to be taking this thing out with one group (56+), also an sk wouldnt touch this with a 10 foot pole its no drop and no sk in his right mind is gonna use a 10 dmg 1 hander in his high 50's and as its no great leap for a warrior theres so much more out there then this.

By the time you get this weapon your melee days have long been over. Unless you have a deathwish. Paladins shouldn't use this, obvious reasons. Rangers.... well the evil thing. Bards can use lots of things that don't make sense, ie Cape of Midnight Mist caster and bard only, staff of writhing caster and bard only ect. But bards can be evil, they can follow pretty much anyone Inny Veeshan and I think Cazic and Bert. In closing its obviously a warrior weapon.

whine whine whine whine....I say let them have it. I have faster weapons and with boon I am not so sure that the lifetap will stack. I thinks that it is fair to say that if this is a scimitar and druids can use them then let them use it. How often do you see druids in a group meleeing anyhow. Unless thier is only a single not so well equipt tank, no very often I would say.
So Verant be nice let these guys have thier knife.
lvl51 warrior, 48 enchanter, 31 monk, 38 druid, 43 cleric. not to metion the other 2 account are full also.
Its a simple reason actually, and if you stopped a moment to think about it you would understand. It is principle. Druids, Rangers and Paladins are life preservers. They do not practice dark arts of necromancy in any way and this weapon procs a nercromantic spell. Stop for just a moment give it some thought and you will understand. It has nothing to do with the type of weapon, it is the type of proc. Thankyou for putting some thought into it Verant. /applaud

They have all the best abilities of every caster, they dont have very many useless spells. For example, why the hell would you want True North? Useless.. nt sure if druids get this, but I sure do wish that instead my wizie got something better.

NO tunare races would use evil weapons, think about it lame brains.. NO druids no rangers, thats necromantic to suck life from an opponent. warriors dont give a hoot, cause hell battle is bloody and survive anyway you can, go for it little wood elves lol!
The creature our raid killed to collect this was the Failed Experiment. Very tough 50+ mob near the entrance to the "castle" inside there. Past the kobold camp.
Dunno, look at the classes. No paladins, druids, or rangers. Maybe it's for the more evil characters (though the bard part gets me, but they can wield some odd weapons [i.e. Staff of Writhing].)
Lifedraw, a necromancer spell (level 12, 45 points max lifetap) is on this scim... Necros are the masters of death... Druids are the masters of life in all of its forms, plants, animals, people, etc... This proc would go intrinsicly against the values of a druid.
So, i can see why we dont get it... but damn if i wouldnt mind it...

Hmm No other class has LoH, Our Tracking is Nothing to BE Desired, Dam we have only one good worthwhile Teleport (mistythicket) we don't have to zone twice to get to a bank. Sow hmm it was good at lvl 14-20 but rangers and shammys get it too, and at higher lvl everyone winds up with Jboots. WIzzies have better Teleports.. Heck our planes gear really suck too, if i ever get any since it doesn't drop (or i haven't personally saw it drop). Give us a chance to live like the rest of norrath and share their skills and abilities.. <Rant Over>

Druids are by far the luckiest classs in the game..they can solo, heal, gg, have decent dd and DoT, get wolf form, get pets.. so just shut up about how much durids are getting ripped off. Only problem is having a dr00d in your group. A dr00d is a druid who doesnt know how to play, but can level fast simply because they are druids. I would bet on the fact that around 75% of druids are like this. So STFU and stop complaining.

Also, there are druids out there with full planes armor, you do know that the planes tunic is 17 WIS (I think), thats a hell of alot. There is only like 3 pieces of druid plane armor that don't have +WIS, but they are made for AC and other stats. Like CHA for druid charm.

First off... it drops in Velk's lab, which probably means the proc doesn't work until the 40+ lvls... and by then, any druid who's in melee doesn't deserve this anyways. Why should the Druid who should never have to melee or even be taking enough hits where the proc is useful, get the chance to roll on this scim?
Quit your ******** and class envy and go stack some dots or something. =P

No, it's a 45 point lifetap. It doesn't really matter what level it procs (unless it's ultra-high-level) since you're probably above 45 if you get this.
It has an "evil" proc, its a lifetap, not many druids would be sucking life from something, frankly im amazed bards can use it since there are no evil bards,, oh well.
Lvl 52 roleplaying bard to counteract that statement, cause I gotta. Ignorance there, yeah, good bards, and bad bards. Only bards and rogues can wear most of the masks, one such mask is very clearly named "Mask of deception" previously called "guise of the deceiver". We can hide/sneak. As well we can pick locks, disarm/detect traps. We are no were close to as skilled as rogue's, however, we aren't nice guys in general. And, just so ya know, bards can worship evil gods. =P
Wow! If this proc'ed often enough, you may never have to heal your tank again! Give hima good haste item, have your Shaman or Enchanter haste-buff him, and pump his Dex... wow! Even without the proc, it a very respectable weapon.
Still, but the statemnet that a tnak doesn't need to be healed if using this weapon is pointless. Imagine a lvl 30 sk with this weap. Bortas's point about the sword proccing 3 times in a battle is valid. Even 3 x 45 = 135 hp. Is that enough to keep a tank going? What if he's a SK with especially high taunt value, or the main tank. The proc won't happen enough to keep a tank going in a battle. Now if you had say 150 dex, maybe that might change things. I don't think it would be enough help even then.
With 2400+ hps, no it wouldn't heal me enough to do away with a healer. However, I'm all for anything that helps my cleric heal me, if I can draw 45hps from a mob while causing 45 points dmg it's a win/win for the cleric and me.
Tempting Fait A Warrior Princess on Tarew Marr Silent Ascension
But if the Tank knows its a basicly a 50/50 shot with a certian mob then chances are its gonna improve a bit in his/her/its favor..tho some mobs have been know to have the effect "Kill him cheaply..he's gained to much Xp in one day" which can be ...well not good ;p Solkinar Da dancing Troll- povar-
Lifedraw is a of the Lifetap spell line, and it takes away 45hp from your enemy, and well needless to say but ill say it anyways (since somepoeple get confused) it gives you 45hp. so actully its a very usefull spell to have procing for you in a fight.
