#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 1:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WTH cant MONKS wear this?!?!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 31 2001 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This SUX! all the good stuff is not iksar-wearable cuz it looks good....HELL! why don't they make the iksar version that looks like leather!
RE: NO MONK?!!?
# Jan 10 2001 at 10:23 AM Rating: Default
If this was monkable, then they would have changed the weight to be much higher, otherwise this would be one of the BEST monk wrist items in the game and the quest isn't even that hard. I don't think Verant wants to give us monks an easy time accumulating nice ac to low wt ratio stuff.
RE: NO MONK?!!?
# Jan 04 2001 at 2:05 PM Rating: Decent
Because despite the Icon it's considered a plate class item.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 06 2001 at 12:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) kalnavamor - It isn't a place class item idiot. Rangers and Rogues can't wear Platemail.
RE: no barb either *sighs*
# Jan 05 2001 at 11:36 AM Rating: Default
Monks can wear shackles just fine - half the monk quests in Cabilis result in shackles.

But large races can't wear it *sigh* - oh well - I hear it has a gemmed girly-look so I guess we can safely leave this one with the paladins! :)

Monks CAN wear plate class items - just not very many of them. Have you heard of a little-known bracer called the Serpentine Bracer? :) They should have made this monk wearable. The effect IS kinda pointless though - by level 35, if you're a melee class and you can't do more than 12hp of damage per 2.5 seconds, you've got problems :) but I guess it could be used for pulling or something. Good bracer nonetheless.

it cant be a plate class item because rangers cant wear plate !
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 4:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you ask me, i'd say monks got seriously screwed on this one...still waiting for some decent bracers for Iksar monks...this would have been nice...but.......*sigh*
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 08 2001 at 4:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think its pretty funny that everyone thinks that a class or race gets screwed everytime they don't agree with something.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 06 2001 at 12:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Stop crying newbie and get over it.
RE: Monks got screwed...
# Jan 05 2001 at 2:19 AM Rating: Default
Some people just cannot be pleased and from what I have figured it seems to be four classes that continually moan about anything they can: Wizards not being group friendly, Magicians for whatever reason they can, Rangers for not being good tanks, and monks for whatever reason they can. Sorry to offend any of the actual good monks out there because there are tons of them but some people are just hard to please.

seriously; alright you whining monks, take a look at the bracer of hammerfall. summons throwing hammers. who comes to mind when you think of throwing things??!? rogues! they have crits and cripples with throwing items, yet the can't the bracer NOR the hammers it summons, so get over it. i'm sure MANY rogues would be glad to switch this thing for a bracer of hammerfall that works for rogues. get over it...
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 07 2001 at 10:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Rogues also get Kunark armor that summons daggers you pompous self important dumb *** rogue. Thx info
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 08 2001 at 8:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yah, but you should really look at the ******* quest your moron. you are a pompous self important dumb *** ****. the bracer of hammerfal takes 50pp and some faction(if you didn't ***** it up somehow). the mrylo costs a ******* lot; besides, the hammers do more damage and actually look cool, rather than a tiny little blade. get all the information before you speak dumbass.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 9:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Stop grumbling... isn't it enough they favour you and give ya pallies something like three uberweaps with the particle FX? (^_^)
bracer looks COOL
# Jan 04 2001 at 7:16 AM Rating: Default
Got it for my woodelf ranger, and goodness the new gemmed platemail graphics are very cool. Worth getting for the stats and the look, the shards right click is a nice party entertainer but is melee range for casting. it's pretty useless =P
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 9:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) USELESS!?
RE: bracer looks COOL
# Jan 04 2001 at 9:33 AM Rating: Default
Depends on the Casting time... if it prevents using Kick/Bash/Taunt etc. it is kinda useless. If it is instant... nice addition
does prevent Bash/Kick/Etc.
# Jan 04 2001 at 4:35 PM Rating: Default

Yes, V shards does prevent secondary actions. The cast time is 2.5 seconds, so if you're a warrior, or a high lvl pally / Shdknight with a fast recover on Kick / Bash, it isn't highly useful. Maybe you can sneak 12 damage in between your secondary attacks. Non-tank melee classes may find it more useful, or even Wis casters who like to melee while FM.

All in all, the bracer is well worth the quest, even just for the stats. V shards, while not greatly useful, will never hurt anything.

PS ~ cheers and kudos for making a lvl 35ish quest for decent armor. Seems that most of the really great armor is attainable at lvl 55+, and while that armor is still better than this, at least we're not expected to use banded until level 40. This one comes with cool graphics too, which is at least if not more important than stats :)
RE: does prevent Bash/Kick/Etc.
# May 03 2001 at 4:08 AM Rating: Decent
If you, by some miscarriage of reality, got through to level 40 using banded...you are my god. LOL Okay, maybe it's not THAT big a deal, but I am hot on having the best I can get for my level.
That, and I'm bloody nuts and like to quest in a game that's called ::gasp:: EverQuest. How silly of me... =)

-Nastasja Wyldangyl, who got her Ro bracers the right way. =)

Yes all that matters is if it looks good really thats what made me decide to buy a sword for my warrior was the fact it looked cool but statwise was only same usefullness as my current but looked better

No High Elves?!
# Jan 04 2001 at 2:43 AM Rating: Decent
Hey, High Elven Paladins can't use this excellent bracer?! I think that's an oversight by VI...
RE: No High Elves?!
# Jan 04 2001 at 9:53 AM Rating: Default
Maybe I'm wrong but I would have sworn the races listed were:

HUMan
ERUdite
ELF
Dark ElF
High ElF
DWarF
HalFLing and
GNoMe

ELF being wood elf.

Actually, high elves are HIE. HEF is for Half Elf, I think.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 04 2001 at 6:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually.. I'm 99% certain they can wear it, "ELF" is listed, pretty sure that allows all elves to wear it, wood/high/dark/(possiably half)
ELF = woodies

RE: No High Elves?!

Actually, in an RP sense it seems correct, would you think that a high elf would chain himself/herself up on their own free will? At least by high elf history, they are a very pure race and they have high morals and ethics.
RE: No High Elves?!
# Jan 17 2001 at 7:53 AM Rating: Default
High elves wouldn't chain themselves up but erudites would?
RE: No High Elves?!
# Jan 04 2001 at 5:02 PM Rating: Default
That does not make any sense, High Elves can already wear Dusty Rusted Shackles

Take a look at

I hope this gets fixed

RE: No High Elves?!
# Jan 04 2001 at 3:32 AM Rating: Default
simple reason... from a rpg story line perspective.
High Elves are considered to be a royal race.
They wouldnt wear shackles.
RE: No High Elves?!
# Jan 04 2001 at 9:11 AM Rating: Default
But Erudians are the Human equivalent to High Elfs so scratch that theriy
