If this was monkable, then they would have changed the weight to be much higher, otherwise this would be one of the BEST monk wrist items in the game and the quest isn't even that hard. I don't think Verant wants to give us monks an easy time accumulating nice ac to low wt ratio stuff.

Monks CAN wear plate class items - just not very many of them. Have you heard of a little-known bracer called the Serpentine Bracer? :) They should have made this monk wearable. The effect IS kinda pointless though - by level 35, if you're a melee class and you can't do more than 12hp of damage per 2.5 seconds, you've got problems :) but I guess it could be used for pulling or something. Good bracer nonetheless.

Some people just cannot be pleased and from what I have figured it seems to be four classes that continually moan about anything they can: Wizards not being group friendly, Magicians for whatever reason they can, Rangers for not being good tanks, and monks for whatever reason they can. Sorry to offend any of the actual good monks out there because there are tons of them but some people are just hard to please.
seriously; alright you whining monks, take a look at the bracer of hammerfall. summons throwing hammers. who comes to mind when you think of throwing things??!? rogues! they have crits and cripples with throwing items, yet the can't the bracer NOR the hammers it summons, so get over it. i'm sure MANY rogues would be glad to switch this thing for a bracer of hammerfall that works for rogues. get over it...

Got it for my woodelf ranger, and goodness the new gemmed platemail graphics are very cool. Worth getting for the stats and the look, the shards right click is a nice party entertainer but is melee range for casting. it's pretty useless =P
Yes, V shards does prevent secondary actions. The cast time is 2.5 seconds, so if you're a warrior, or a high lvl pally / Shdknight with a fast recover on Kick / Bash, it isn't highly useful. Maybe you can sneak 12 damage in between your secondary attacks. Non-tank melee classes may find it more useful, or even Wis casters who like to melee while FM.
All in all, the bracer is well worth the quest, even just for the stats. V shards, while not greatly useful, will never hurt anything.
PS ~ cheers and kudos for making a lvl 35ish quest for decent armor. Seems that most of the really great armor is attainable at lvl 55+, and while that armor is still better than this, at least we're not expected to use banded until level 40. This one comes with cool graphics too, which is at least if not more important than stats :)
If you, by some miscarriage of reality, got through to level 40 using banded...you are my god. LOL Okay, maybe it's not THAT big a deal, but I am hot on having the best I can get for my level. That, and I'm bloody nuts and like to quest in a game that's called ::gasp:: EverQuest. How silly of me... =)
-Nastasja Wyldangyl, who got her Ro bracers the right way. =) 32nd seaon Knight of the Cathedral Innoruuk
Yes all that matters is if it looks good really thats what made me decide to buy a sword for my warrior was the fact it looked cool but statwise was only same usefullness as my current but looked better

Actually, in an RP sense it seems correct, would you think that a high elf would chain himself/herself up on their own free will? At least by high elf history, they are a very pure race and they have high morals and ethics.
