Wow..this is really nice for any class, which is prolly why its all/all =). The 20ac 15 str 100hp and 0.0 wt makes it great for all melee (melee hybrids as well) the int and wis and mana make it good for hybrids and pure casters, including the 20 ac and 100hp :) I see why this is all/all..perfect for any class :)
Don't overlook the saves that everyone needs, according to this site, this is #3 on saves for SKs, the two above it being from NToV... haven't looked into other class's save belts but i know that good saves on a belt tend to be rather hard to come...
every class deserves a chance at the dains head that wants and will use the belt. there is not any one class in this game that is more important than another, one may say the cleric is the most important or the bard is the important one or the...... and it can go on and on. if you are on the raid and you want in on the head cause you want the belt then you deserve a shot at it. no class is an island on raids like this, no one can do it alone. if anyone thinks that a specific class is more deserving of this item then go and tank for it prove you are "THE ONE" that deserves it and that no one else can compare, all classes assist another.
Oh my god, I cannot believe you guys have to debate this thing like that. 1)Many of you are not even on the same server 2)Many of you will never see that head drop 3)Many of you will quit EQ before you make it that far 4)Many of you have far too much time to waste here to make it to lvl 50+ 5)Instead of debating such futile matters, why not play the game and debate when you actually see that damn thing drop? You'll have to do it over, probably (and I mean probably) the people you'll be grouped with by that time, wont have been here to debate this.
im not sure how many realize this: every class is important. any class should have a chance on this belt if they have worked hard for their guild and shown dedication to the guild. An item like this is given on merit and not just to the "necessary classes." furthermore, there are only three classes that a raid cannot succeed without: warriors, clerics, and rogues. when fighting in places like ToV, sleepers, and bosses of velious, mezzing isnt even considered. a designated warrior will tank the add and there is only ONE tank tanking the whole battle with 3 or 4 clerics casting CH. that is why the clerics are necessary. and no raid cannot succeed without enough rogues, as they can do more dmg than ANY other class especially on long battles like one involving tormax. however, this belt should go to any character that has merited this belt by dedication and hard work.
That is just plain rediculous. Warriors, rogues, and clerics??? ROFLMAO
You, sir, have forgotten the SHAMAN to malo and slow the mob so the tank doesn't get wasted. And the ENCHANTER to KEI, Tash, and Shissar everyone so the clerics don't go OOM, and the rogues do ubah dmg. Not to mention chain rune the tank.
Anyway, just trying to say that all classes are important, period. And whoever gets this item is up the guild officers anyway since they have to award it. IMO whoever has the most time and dedication in the guild should be first, with whoever has the most need for it second.

Utterly impossible..Oh..and he'll tank 3 or 4 mobs hitting for 200+..Sure...Possible..But takes, and I mean literally, 20 minutes to kill them all together.....Clerics go OOM in 20 minutes useing it all on CH..I seen it happen..My guild said 'Nah, too low..Ragner..Go Suicide Pull' and yes..Level 60 ranger.....Whipeout, cept for corpse man (me) getting us all to a rez point and even dragging mobs off so that the cleric didn't get aggro when he logged bank...Time two..Whipeout..Repeate process....I said 'Hey...Just give me 10 throwing knives and lemme work with the MT....'......2 min pulls, which ere nice for my level......5 minute kills......Simple kill..Thank you...Just an example on how monks are vital to a raid too..Soo much simpler to kill 1 or two mobs than 5 or 6...
Not to diss you in anyway but this comes from a quest that involves killing the dwarf king for the giants so any guild that is killing giants couldent do it anyway.
Aside from that I like enchanters on raids and think they should have a chance at this so they can stick around longer.
after reading down though the posts, I could see why enchanters and such need this. But, I would have to rank the warriors in the front of the line because they need ac more than anyone else, since they are usually tanking the mob. Then next would come rangers, shadow knights, paladins, then monks, since they can't really tank, then the casters. But that is how I think it would go but, of course I will probably get flamed or have my karma dropped because of this but, that is what an opinion board is for.
It is sad that you people say ac is a waste of time to casters... No one gets hit more then monks warriors enchanters and clerics. Nearly in that order. I know I am going to get "flamed" as you rediculessly call it. But ask most enchanters if they get hit. Ask any cleric. Personally I do not have a character over level 30. Now you are going to tell me that I do not know what im talking about..
I have played since beta, dicovered many of the trade skill combos since before kunark. I have played characters over 50, I had at one time a near maxed (at the time) wizard but that got delted by my mother becuase I didnt clean the house.. Sad moment in eq. Level 49 wizard :(. 1 more lvl.. bah.
Anyway, every class NEEDs ac, and this belt has stats that every class NEEDS.
oh I left bards out, they go on the top of my list for most hit classes.
Amen brother...whats with these people 'oh monks dont get hit, monks cant tank'
What a crock, I have stood toe to toe with fighters 5 levels or more above me and tanked when their panzy *** was below 'half life' (my 3/4 life mind you) at 35 sittin pretty with 900 ac and 1100 hps, now 45 and 1300hps nearing 950 AC, no its not the obcine amount warriors get but ill go nose to nose with some walking trashcan any day.
I will not flame you, but I think that EVERYONE should have a shot at this item, EQUALLY. Giving this to a tank is a waste of that INT and MANA. But giving this to a caster is a waste of AC blah blah. Some people have too much time on their hands. Its written on the item ALL/ALL but you knew that of course.
Give it to a Cleric they need both AC, if you cant take the hits long enough to get the mob off you the group is screwed, They need Str to carry around that heavy plate armor, they deffinately need the wis hp and mana. And the Saves are just a very nice cherry on top
I read all the messages for this arguement twice, at first I didn't believe it. The second time, I figured out a way this could be. The person that Did this would have to be extremely selfish, Be a good raid planner, and a very fast thinker. Because This person would have to get their twink to dain's spawn point, Kill dain with their main in the raid, roll on it, and If they won loot his head with his twink. This is the only way I can figure that he could do this. The thing I don't get though is, Why would anyone in their right mind who has a character high enough to go on a dain raid and win the roll on the belt NOT give it to their main? Why give it to a Twink? Unless he was one lucky guy and this wasn't his first dain raid, and he already had a belt on his main.. But if that was so, he would have to conceal it, so as to have a chance to roll on the head. By the way the message was written, It doesn't seem the author meets any of these qualitys and therefore there would be no way in hell he could get it unless he snuck in and stole it from a raiding party.. This post is a little late, and will probably be rated awful, but if not thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts.. Same author as the previous post. Bertox all the way. | | | | v
It took about 30 minutes to read all of these posts, and it only took about 2 minutes to realize about half of these people are selfish, whiny and just posting in hope of changeing people's minds in their favor. This Would be a great item for any class... It shouldn't be subjected to one race or one class.. I've no chance of getting this belt for any of my characters, and I know it. But We can all dream can't we?

Foolishly beleiving there would be lots of helpfull info on the web sites, I log on to see the experiences others have had brutaly fighting for such Godly items. Low and behold what do I actually find. . .
Statisically, it is most beneficial to hybrids, as it gives them the most direct benefits. Obviously it is great for anyone, but I would have to say melee over caster as it gives haste with AoB.

In response to your logic Anonymous, think about this from a rogue's perspective. If logic prevailed and only the "required" classes got this belt (think about folks, which 3 classes can you NOT have a raid without? Suprisingly they all appear within Anon's post), Rogues would ONLY get piercers and Rogue only armor. Why? We offer little to a group or a guild, besides pull setups. This, in my experience, gives us nothing as far as looting rights are concerned. Therefore, please DON't use logic in cutting down who should role for lil ole Dain's head; just let everyone role for it who has a chance at it. Just my 2cp.

Although i couldn't understand what that flamer was saying cause it was all in 1 sentence, but he's obviously lying, i mean it IS no drop, plus you guys really take people too seriously, don't you notice how much attention one message has gotten from you people? I mean if you wanted to shut him up then just leave a message "shut up" and go on with your lives.

So face it..everyone will role for head and all but one person will get it. Its a tough "world" out there and everyone will kill for items like this. Personally i would to because its awsome. Out of the hundreds of people I have seen on EQ. ONE person has been caring and was not greedy. So don't complain about people becuase you can't change what they want or think.

oh mr anon excuse me why don't you go to the top of the posts.... now do you see a drop down menu?... ok change it from default filter to never filter.... ok done that?..... good.... now look at that post.... oh WOW he was responding to someone else.... someone who claimed he twinked a lvl 20 with this belt....
THE WHOLE POST WAS A SARCASTIC REPLY!!!! and it was funny....
and btw if you reread the post or maybe read it for the first time.... you'll notice that yes he does put his name and sever on there...
Person who posted march 22 10:52 i have something for you Its a great belt an all but its bad for one class....... bards Bards dont need mana ,wis, int, and we hardly need str because the songs we play give str and the ac is about the only great thing on it for a bard now think of this
Who gives the mana allowing the casters to nuke heal and buff ... BARDS This mana helps the group alot .... were would the tanks be with out there healers casting heal and where would the healers e without the bard DEAD! were would the nukers and such be with out the bards givin them mana to Nuke either dead or medding for like 10 minutes SO THINK ABOUT THE BARDS FOR ONCE
With this belt, I could trade out that non AC/non resist jewlery and put on some resist gear for raids. Lots of choices for each class that could be done if this belt was in their possession.
I read thru every one of the posts made about this item. Everyone is basically trying to sell their class as the one that best deserves this item. Yes... this item says all all and has the stats that would make most anyone drool. But please use a little logic for a min if you will.
Who in your guild would make you (as a guild) stronger as a whole? Dont think about yourself for just a min. And think as a part of a team.
When reading this keep in mind that I am a necromancer. These are not selfish thaughts at all.
AC - Everyone needs a little AC. Tanks, clerics, and enchanters need it a little more than other classes due to them being the ones gettng hit the most. Keeping these 3 classes a live keeps the group alive.
STR - Strength is nice for everyone as well. But Tanks need it more for obvious reasons. I know it would let anyone caryy more stuff. But again, think of your guild/party as a whole.
WIS - The only WIS casters I have beed that do not have their WIS maxed and then some by the time you can even get Dain's head, are paladins and rangers. And this is the case only because they are more of a tank than a caster.
INT - The only INT casters I have beed that do not have their INT maxed and then some by the time you can even get Dain's head, are shadow knights. And this is the case only because they are more of a tank than a caster.
HP - Tanks, Chanters, Clerics need it most.
MANA - Hmmmmmm... :) Well, most anytime a chanter or cleric is oom and the fight is still on guess who loses.
Resists - Everyone needs resists... However, Im my experience of playing most every class, it's much harder for tanks(minus warriors with that insane MR)to get their resists up. And its not good to see your tanks getting feared all over the place either.
WEIGHT: OMG!!
With this in mind, the classes I feel would most benifit and in turn make their party stronger as a whole are as follows: Monks, Enchanters, Clerics.
Forget about chanters and clerics not making good use of the effect. The hast of that effect is crap IMO.
Monks - NO WEIGHT, high AC, HPs, resists. Added to gether mean this. With the high damage output of monks they have a pretty high taunt factor. Knowing this they need a little more AC to help that party.
Enchanters - AC, INT, MANA, HP. They already have INT maxed so that is of no issue. Except that they could free up other slots for resist gear.
Clerics - AC, HP, WIS, MANA. Cleric complete heals monk. Cleric get beat on but high AC saves her. Cleric yell OOM!! :) Maybe not as much with this.
Also, something to think about. Killing Dain requires a raid. This is what I see happening. Someone will organize and lead the raid. Most likely a large guild. The raid will be for the purpose of getting the head for a predetermined person. Said person fronting all reagants needed for the raid.
Post SoL, the part about "casters having maxxed INT and WIS" will have to be changed... Since the softcap on WIS and INT was raised significantly (probably, as the new cap has not yet been determined), then casters can make full use of that part as well...
I am still a low-mid level Enchanter (31 atm) and I could see the use of this for any class, but being an enchanter, and knowing what it's like to rack up that hate, and when you do, in any _decent_ encounter, you can go down fast. Opps, I have 3 red mobs on me, how nice.. *thump* *thump* ok, the stuff that the tank at my level has been taking on for the past few rounds takes out most of my hp within a couple rounds. We can _never_ get a decent ac robe.. I think 15-20 is the highest I know of, and the int thing is great.... 15int on a belt with other nice stats.. so if I have my int at 200, I can free up a more common +int source, and try to get some +mana and +resist gear on there. No doubt, in most guilds, most people would want to roll for this, no matter how this item actually effects everyone's overall equip, based on what they have, what they can possibly get, and what they need, as well as who it will benefit the most. Most people do not take these kinds of things into consideration. All classes could use this, of course, but I agree with the ones you listed as being able to use it the most, followed by Ranger/Paly/Shadow, all equally
You're crazy if you think AC is going to save your life.
At high levels, if you get agroed, you're dead. No amount of ac items is going to save your life. You are going to die in the first or second round of attack. So please dont waste your guilds time whining that you need AC items.... Leave that for the melees, it will actually do them some good.
On seeing this thing and rating it which class should wear only 3 class are getting into reach of it.
1.place Ranger has bad AC, needs str and wis and haste! hp and mana for sure since they have same mana like a druid and with their spells they really assist.
2.place Paladin same as ranger
3.place Shadowknight same as ranger
I would give to them as a replace for a FBSS or as a ADD to CoCW or CoF. If they have runebranded girdle or runed bolster and no haste cloak i would give it to Cleric if he stil has not the optimal configuration. Usually clerics in that range have eqipment much better.
the rest of classes i would give to same position but in case none of the above needs i think enchanter or even more wizards should get it.
I totally agrea, Monk, enchanters, and clerics do need that item the most to help as a whole, I used to play a chanter and quit him because he died so much I could NEVER level him. they are VERY susceptable to death from melee due to low AC and crappy pets. Im Currently playing a cleric (only level 7 but i just started him) and mana doesnt go a long way with then, luckly they can wear metal armor and that increases there AC as well as healing themselves in a pinch. And my Favorite, the main character my Monk, I made him right after the enchanter and weight is KEY! Unless you have played a monk, there is only one way you will understand the weight issue, over 14 stones, our ac becomes decrepid.. we could trip and break a hip. hehe. Ya, a level 60 raid is pretty butch, but is it worth the trouble to get enough people high enough to do it? or better yet sacrifice your Naggy and Vox raid capabuilitys because you went after a belt?
just tellin what i know.. and i definately dont know how to spell :P
Dain hits for max damage of three variants, he always quads, but sometimes it's for 325, others 400 and finally the max I've seen him hit for is 425. I believe that he may spawn as low as 63-65 and maxes at 70. BTW, his weapons don't determine his damage, he's hit for 325 and dropped the hammer and then respawned a week later with the hammer and hit for 425, so it appears to be level and not item that is determining his damage cap.
I think he is always the same level. There are only two versions of the dain, one that hits for 350 max and another that hits for 425 max. Nothing inbetween... just luck of the draw on which one you will get.
