Its not copyright infringement

It is not copyright infringement. This is just a common metal used in different games. Newbscape (Runescape) uses it, Eq doesn't that much but they dap it in, MMORPG's, and even X-Men. Just another made up metal (possibly).

Its actually Greek

I think it's in Dante

I'm pretty sure there is a reference to "adamantine chains" in the Inferno. Or whatever the italian is. Adamant is from a greek word that means diamond or extremely tough metal. Turn it into something that fits modern naming of metals and you get adamantium. I don't think obvious modernizing of words can be covered by copyright.

Wolverine's (Marvels X-Men) claws were also reffered to as Adamantium, his skeleton was also encased in this alloy. But Wolverine was Canadian, not Italian.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 21 2001 at 7:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what does wolverine have to do with this item???? i wished i didn't have to sift through tons of useless information just to find something useful.....but while we are on the subjct....something has to be copyrighted to make it an infringement...characters and likenesses are..... never read that the name of what makes up their endoskeleton are.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 17 2001 at 11:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Technically, Wolverines endoskeleton was coated with Adamantium (Oh, and it IS Adamantium) and not made of it. :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 03 2001 at 8:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) BTW Wolverine's endoskeleton was made out of ADAMANTITE, not adamantium though the resemblance in the 2 are damnclose
#Anonymous, Posted: May 06 2001 at 1:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wasn't Wolverine's Skeleton made out of Adamantium? /em Smells a copyright infringment.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 13 2001 at 10:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeah, it was. Supposedly the strongest metal in the known universe. Given this bit of info, maybe the stats should be raised a bit, and harder than hell to get. I'm probably going into it just a bit too much, but I was raised on X-men. Best cartoon in the world, in my opinion.

Copyright Infringment? Adamantium (Admantium in some other games) is a commonly used form of metal in MMORPGS. The Realm used Admantium, EQ has Adamantium, and I am sure some other one has it as well. So, I doubt this would be Copyright Infringment.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 12 2001 at 2:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The use of adamantium by Marvel comics predates the character Wolverine and goes all the way back to World War II with Capt. America. Adamantium is actually an alloy of vibranium a rare metal, according to Marvel comics history, that was found in Anarctica and no longer exists. Capt. America's shield is made of vibranium which has been proven to be harder and stronger than Wolverine's claws/skeleton. The original Avengers headquarters' structure was even comprised of an adamantium/vibranium combination devised by Tony Stark. (Hence why you don't see their base being obliterated like some other superhero bases such as Muir Island, Dr. Strange's home, Four Freedoms Plaza etc.)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 19 2001 at 10:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not like it's on topic, but this isn't right either. In Marvel Comicdom, adamantium is a man-made alloy (used in Wolverine's skeleton, among other things) and vibranium is a natural metal occuring in Antarctica (the Savage Land) and Wakanda (the kingdom of T'Challa, the Black Panther). The Wakandan kind of vibranium is the one that is referred to most often, since it has a bunch of sound-related properties to it, and that is what is used in Captain America's shield, along with adamantium. Cap's shield is a special vibranium-adamantium alloy that has proven to be stronger than anything else known to (fictional Marvel) humankind. Antarctic or Savage Land vibranium actually eats all metal it comes into contact with, so it's rarely used for anything.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 24 2001 at 2:24 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) SHUT UP YOU SUPER GEEKS!!!!, You Sound So Pathetic Get A Life You Should NOT Know So Much About COMIC BOOK History. lemme ask you somthin who was the fifth US President?....Oh What You Dont Know? RE: X-men
# Jun 02 2002 at 1:47 PM Rating: Decent
5th US president = James Monroe
Moron of the year = Tixa Uoff

Anyhoo Admantium is an alloy in existence, but I GUESS you could try a law suit against the miners for dragging the name from a comic book, yeah fecking right.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 02 2002 at 8:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Concerning X-men, that is one of the best comic books of all times. And the other Loser Tixa, you do know that these fantasies expands one imagination and mind. And the US president hasnt got to do with **** all cuz some ppl dont live in the states.
