Plane armor for monks in most cases just suck completely and utterly. My favorite is the 6ac face mask with worn effect of ultravision that dropped off the Maestro of Ranchor. Not a very easy npc to drop and a very ****** mask.

As a human monk, I tend to disagree. The Mempo of Likato is a great face item for monks who can't see at night.

Okay, admittedly, I only wear it in dungeons where I'm pulling, and in dark zones if I'm fighting when the sun goes down, but I went to hate specifically to loot this item.

Also, if everyone else plays their roles right a monk with awesome stats instead of ac would benefit the group more, although that almost never happens even at lvl 50+.

Obviously Mandicus' plays "Camp Monk" and has others pull.

Bottom line - higher end game is about avoiding aggro and living long enough to survive it if you got aggro.

Any MOB that CAN be slowed WILL be slowed. This includes the POS's in Kael. It is just not mana efficient to allow unslowed MOBs to beat on your tanks.

When pulling - AGI > 200 * helps * but no way in hell am I sacrificing AC for AGI.

End game is AC, Health and Resists. Anyone who tells you differently is living in a fools paradise.

i disagree with you diagree) Ac isnt end all for monks, but dont cheat AC for stats either. Idea for monk is to not get aggro, ok this dosent happen all the time, but FD puts it back where it belongs. i agree not to cut AC just for a little boost in stats, but I would cut a few AC if my AC was good for a big jump in str. monks r about damage good tanks at high lvls will keep aggro u will get hit, but if you keep your HPs up you can cut AC for stats. I do agree ill take AC over agi anyday, but ill take str over AC if it dosent put me too low on the AC end. i agree that monks shouldnt be takeing damage, more mana effecient to CH a 4k hp warrior at a bub than the monk.

Just wait till you have to pull the lvl57+ storm giants in Kael and your getting beat on the whole way back to camp, getting hit for 200+ per shot. This is why monks need AC, AGI, and STA, to stay alive long enough to get the pull back to the group, thank Verant for run 3. Stats such as STR and Dex dont mean much in the higher end game because as a monk your job is to stay alive and get the pull back to camp without bringing in adds, which by the way is easier said then done. Once back to camp there are so many people beating on the mob that your extra 5 points of damage per swing from 100 more STR doesnt mean all that much, especially when the mob has more then 10K in HP. STR is nice for soloing, where that extra damage kills your mob quicker but in large groups on raids its almost pointless.

Hehe Monks don't need Agility. Agility is directly converted to AC. Thats it. Thats all it does. It doesn't affect dodge or ripost or anything like that.

All monks need are regen haste atk hps ac and resists. Come to think about it. Thats about all any melee other then rogues need

The Velious armor looks a lot cooler than cured silk! I've seen a few pieces of it on different people and it's the same idea, but much different look. No one will confuse you with a level 12 monk while wearing this stuff.
AC is king

AC is everything, even for monks, at least when you plan on soloing. In a perfect world high stats would actually make a significant difference...unfortunately this is not a perfect world. At the very least monks need, I repeat, need to get their ac above 1000, after this you can look into really up'ing your stats.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 20 2001 at 4:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I know you can't even get into the planes till 46th, so please hold your flaming tongues. I just mean are they higher level or a newbie?
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 22 2001 at 2:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah cause we all know monks are supposed to be flashy. Dumbass monks are humble people who usually wear just robes. They dont run around like Joseoh in a freakin technicolor dreamcoat. Oh good I dont look good damn these stats cause we all know looks keep us alive in fights. Your the type of guy whos corpse looks good and is at the gate begging for a SoW constantly.
Same old look getting old...

Is it a Level 44 Monk or a level 13 monk? Impossible to tell... all our planer gear has the same drab cured silk look. Yuk. I am not Kennethe Cole or anything, but come on Verant!! Give us some unique looking armor!! so all monks don't have to look like that dang bobsy twins.

I dunno, I'm not so impressed with the monk PoG stuff so far. Especially this piece. I'll keep my azure sleeves over this.

I agree... What ever happened to decent AC with Monk gear? For the difficulty and rareity of this item, it should have at least the AC of Azure Sleeves or better. *grin*

These arms aren't that great because of resists mostly, not just the ac. Monks can do ok without tons of ac, but the stats are just mediocere and the resists suck bad. These still have way better stats than crescent armor in dalnir though, so at least verant is learning.

Also, if everyone else plays their roles right a monk with awesome stats instead of ac would benefit the group more, although that almost never happens even at lvl 50+.

Take for instance 2 lvl 60 monks with the same defense skill and base statistics.

One monk chooses ac gear over stat gear and does perfectly fine killing stuff slowly and probably uses a runed fighter staff or tranquil staff.

The other monk uses full planes armor along with ac gear to fill the gap of the pieces and has probably 50-60 higher attack but 50-60 lower ac than the origional monk. This monk doesn't stay alive as long against a direct assault, but he can kill the mob a lot faster and he fulfills his role as a damage output with feign ability.

Simply put, if you dont have stat gear at lvl 60, sure you might have great ac but it wont matter if you have to have a shaman slow and cripple each mob anyway so that you can hit it. The higher lvl you get the less overall damage you do without raising your stats. I'm sorry to say that at lvl 60 120 str and agi wont cut it. You need a lot better stats than that and this planes armor is probably the only reasonable way to do it. I hope the quest armor has better stats than this, but who knows?
