My 51 Necro got these off some random rat. They look great and have great stats!
Any class that can use would do well with these. Some of the listed classes should be able to get better by 50+, but even so they are great for those who haven't.
These are defenatley better than oiled greaves, as a 56 monk i can sure as hell live with 0.5 more wt for some pants that gives the same ac and hp as oiled greaves but add up on disease resist and additional stats... I was lucky enough to get these off some rats in DN, rare drop though but if u have the guild go for these drop the oiled greaves, sell the greaves and buy a dragonborn sash instead.
hello bro u see the 20 disease, this item is not gay, oiled greaves is gay if u compare these 2 items, the fact that u might find these gay are that they are no drop so u cant get them and twink your n00b monk with them, the fact is they are unique and look friggin nice on iksar monk also, even the human brothers too.
the more saves u can get the better, and 0.5 more wt is hell worth these.
Dex has nothing to do with block, dodge, or riposte, agi determines how often those come into effect. If i were you I would go for AC/Str/Agi/Resists/Sta/Dex In that order(Resists and Sta are kinda a tie). Str and Dex both affect your offensive skills learning curve, and agi affects your defensive skills learning curve. Seeing as how high a monks defensive skills can go agi is very important. Trust me over 2 years on EQ and lots and lots of research says so ;) Scratch one item from my rangers legs list, I know i can do better then this by the time I'm 53.
Wrong. AGI has nothing to do with how often defensive skill go off. That is based off of skill level alone. AGI only helps the skills go up faster.
Pulling monks need AC/hps/STA/resists/AGI/STR/DEX. STR/AGI/DEX are not something I ever look for anyways. Good monk gear just kind of comes with it as a bonus.

True..those are skill based only......and im not speaking for Monks here...just Beast....AGI for a Beast is VERY Important...we are an AVOIDANCE class...we like Monks do NOT and never will mitigate damage even close to what Plate classes do.... so dream all you want about what you "think" 1200AC is going to do for you, but in reality 1200AC for a Monk/Beast has about the same effect as approx 900AC for a Warrior.... Id take 100AGI over 100AC anyday
and AGI does more than "ONLY" help your def skills go up....it adds a small visable AC boost, ie: every 100AGI is approx 20AC...but also its main effect is your AVOIDANCE 1/2 of your AC which is what governs the 'MISSES" from Mobs... A beast or Monk with 1200AC will still get hammered by a Mob that hits for 250+....your best bet is for that Mob to MISS you completely. I keep my AGI pegged at 265....
Just about everything in DN will drop off the Rats. There is a seperate loot table for some of the bosses. But perty sure ive seen this drop off one of the rats. Just keep kill'n the bastages, and you should get one to drop.
To Everyone else:
Great monk item. If you aren't 55+ or haven't even seen the zone, please don't post about something you have no idea about or will never aquire. Thx.
Oiled greaves are better than these for monks, and to the enchanter that says monks dont need AC, may I please have what you are smoking. I suppose you think str is our main stat. Well in the post 50 world (which you obviously havent ever experienced) str makes little differance in your attack. Besides, what good is str when your not alive to do damage cause you skimped on the AC gear and frenzied a mob that hits 200+?
I had it explained to me by the guy that designed Necropolis. Sometimes is really cool to play on Test Server..;)
The Chetari are a necromancy based culture, the Paebala are opposing them.
The Chetari necros, when they capture a Paebala, sometimes perform a dark and evil ritual to create the Paebala skin armor. Since they, being necros, make the armor, they made sure they could wear it as well as give it out to their brethren of lesser classes.
The real deal, boiling down all the rp reasons, is that he wanted to avoid cookie cutter items when he could.
Look at some of the other toys coming out of Necropolis, some are kinda neat (like the serpent belt), some are different (like the goo), etc.
He said he actually got a bug report about the cowl of mortality that drops off Zlandicar, since it is all/all but has black chain texture. He did that on purpose.
People need to stop pigeonholing items, and think outside the box more.

Warriors don't need these and why should Necro's get itmes like this and not all the other casters FIX THESE.
It's Flayed, just like the stuff from Karnor's Castle -- from a RP sense it's logical that Necro can wear, course Paly shouldn't be able to, by that. *shrug*
Is it just me or are necros getting too good a deal out of this armour they are being offered? You don't see ench/wiz/mag down on these type of items, so why does the necro get a look in again ?
Pretty sweet, a monk with a little extra weight carrying ability could use these very well. Check it out, 15 ac and only 2 weight. Nice. This would of course be more godlike for sk or necro because of the int and mana though.
Thank god verant started to wise up and realise that they dont have to make wis and int items nearly impossible to get just because they are good items. Heck if jasarth scale leggings didn't have the 5wis part I'd probably wear these myself.

Dielzen. monks are no tanks, huh? nay but 1st off rangers are even worse ;p And then, ever tryed to split a couple of mobs that hit in the 200's? guess not, my stuff is mostly AC based followed by hp and str, i'm happy with my 1000ac at 54 and would never ever give it away ;)
PS: I tank better then warriors.... just not as long *g*
Take your crescent legs and enjoy, I as a monk would rather have these than my 5ac planar armor and there is no better set of legs out there for monks. Warriors and other plate wearing tanks have lots more choices and I think the 3str is negligible for 12 more ac. Obviously you haven't played a monk to high levels or you'd know how vital ac items are.
I play both a level 60 ench and a 58 Monk. If given the choise of which char I would give these to (which I likely wouldn't get) it would be the monk hands down. AC and hitpoints are primary stats for monks. Hit points are nice for my ench but AC doesn't really make much difference to me. Derekor hits for 700s with 800 AC or with 600 AC, best to just not get hit.
If it makes you feel better, enchanter-san, you aren't ot the first person to play a monk to 42 with you lizard head waaaay up your own *****
I always go for AC and resists (which are sorry atm) and str goes up by accident. I cannot even remember the last raid type situation when I had under 250 str. And it take me 150 str to equal the effectiveness of one kind level 60 ranger. It only takes about 30 raw AC to make up for a kind 60 cleric buff.
If you need to know, I'm level 60 and monks don't like to tank but when you wield our epic weapon and a rakusha cloak good luck getting anything to taunt off. Tell me you wouldn't sacrifice 3 int for 12ac and I'll call you a liar. Enchanters aren't tanks either but does that mean they don't take hits? And level 42 isn't nearly high enough because the desparity in monks defense cap doesn't kick in before level 50. Play a monk, then offer your advice. Don't judge our class from what you think we are.
At lvl 54 I don't need to sacrifice Int for AC/HP -- got Int items coming out my rear, same with Cha items. Long as I'm 190+ in each, I don't care. Playing at lvl 51 (friend's account)I get beat down wether I'm wearing AC or Str gear so I opt for the Str gear so that at least I'm beating stuff down. If I get aggro, it's time to FD for a sec, turn off attack, whatever -- a smart player knows how to avoid aggro as a Monk (as an Enc it's Gate or die or tank until a taunt works, etc.) once it's gained.
Just cause you got CFs and Rak doesn't mean you are a tank, it just means you're doing DMG, as stated previously, Monks aren't Tanks, they're DMG Dealers
Ever have a spell resisted? Well FD gets resisted a lot by high level mobs too so FD doesn't always work. And never one time did I claim to be a tank. I merely stated these pants would do more good on a monk than any other character listed for the level it comes off of so get off your high horse, level a monk to 60 then tell me how to play one.
I'm a 60 monk and i consider these the best monk pants in the game.
because:
15 ac 20rd wt 2.0
Before SoV, it was a monks aspiration to wear efretti legs from the plain of sky; drawback = weight 6!, 15 ac though, so dooable, in certain situations. Now we get 2 choices: flayed paebala and oiled greaves - both substantially lighter.
Oiled greaved, argueably are better, due to str and .5 less weight. But at 60, your str DEFINATELY should hit 255 with shaman buffs, and should be pretty near 200+ anyway.
Disease Resist is one of the hardest resist to raise, thx thex dagger = non monk usable^-^.
So i will get these (been trying for days now), as will all the monks in my guild.
I'm a lvl 57 monk with epic and a CoF. I dont think that any lvl 60 warrior can taunt off me. And I dont like FDing and waiting with my atk off, as I lose a LOT of damage. if I'm a dmg dealer, why would i be spending most fights with my atk off? Why wouldn't I rather take a few hits on the lesser mobs and whup the crap outta them? whatever that chanter is smoking, I want some of it, cause it's prolly high quality all natural stuff =P
im glad someone mentioned that. i have played with my friends 30th monk off and on, and even then it takes a bit of work from the tanks to get something off me. AC and STR items (followed by HP)are what i would get a monk if i was playing one. forget dex and agi, forget everything else. there really arent alot of cheap proc'ing items for monks to worry about dex, and im not sure what agi does anymore, so str/ac/hp items are left and most of those are dirt cheap. thats just my 2cp's..hate me if you will :)
It would appear that Necro's can't were any of this line of armor. Check the stats on the gloves as well. Perhaps because the armor drops from MOBs that are high lvl dragon necros?
Guys, look where the Flayed items come from: Dragon NECROPOLIS <hint>. Also, it's the same as the Flayed Skin armor that is useable by SK's and Necro's. Necro's deal with death by nature and flayed skin armor seems pretty darned "dead" to me.

Necros have more robes with great stats than the other robe classes, Human and Erudite Necros have flayed skin which is better than other classes caster armor. Who cares if it makes sense that Necros can wear it because it's from the Dragon NECROPOLIS. The fact that the other robes play second fiddle to Necros is very obvious.
UMmm... Isn't leather armor made from the flayed skin of what ever animal once owned it? Can Necros wear leather armor?... It would seem to me that this and the other pieces of this line should be available to the leather wearing classes but not the cloth only classes...
I kinda reckon all the pro Necro's wearing this kit are Necro players (or am I misjudging them?) I think if you setup a set of rules saying that spell casters wear cloth only you stick to them. Breaking the rules for special items is cool but only if you do the same for other classes.....or are Necros something special?
how about you just whine like babies untill verant laughs at you? wah, necros getting good stuff. Take a look around. Can warriors wear items like a gilded cloth? or how about shamans druids or clerics using a runed cowl? I mean, their cloth type items, and I thought everyone can wear some type of cloth. We've yet to even begun to scratch the surface of drops in kunark, let alone drops for each individual class. and you babies are already whining about a pair of pants. rofl. when does christmas break end so all of you go back to school and stop crowding the dungeons. CAMP CHECK!! PH34R MY L33T SKILLZ! CAN I GET A SOW? PLEASE RES ME DUDE! CAN YOU PORT ME? DUDE, YOU SUCK. HEAL ME!!! HEAL ME /yell /yell /yell sopund familiar? aye, hopefully it will go away soon.
