Well now that Ive had this sword for the past couple weeks, Ive noticed its faults. Basically, any planes raids you go on, plan on makin an extra spot in your back pack for this, cuase it dont hit them. VI has there head up there you know wheres if they think that by keeping this weapon unmagical they are balancing anything. DN isnt exactly all that easy. Sebilite Guardians are MUCH MUCH easier to kill than making a DN raid for this, and yet id almost rather duel wield lammies than have to tinker around with no added stats, and not having the ability to hit magical guys. Getting to DN can also be a task if you dont have a wiz or a druid to succor you across, or a mage to CoH... SO there is another factor in complicating things with getting this weapon. The risk for getting a sword like this is definatly great enough to deem it a Magical status. I still cant believe anything is dropping in such a high lvl zone, which is not magical, for cryin out loud, Decaying skellies in a newbie zone deserve to drop non magical items, but for a zone which would take a good group of 50+ characters to get this thing...
I agree with you completely. I bought one of these a while ago (FV server), not realizing it was non magical. Had trouble landing offhand blows (was using this offhand with a Wurmslayer in primary), didn't ever occur to me that a weapon with such a nice ratio would be non magical. It makes NO difference what the ratio on the weapon is if you cannot even land a blow on the mob you are fighting. At the level you must be to get this to drop you are not going to want to be burdened with deciding which mobs you can hit and which mobs you cannot. Just part of the whole philosophy of Verant/Sony of making you work harder and giving you less.
I won one of these tonight and i went the entire rest of the night in DN and it worked wonderfully. Didnt even realize the magic wasnt there. Correct me if im wrong, but wasnt it that after a certain lvl, you automatically hit magical characters? Or is that just for your fists. Anyway, if this is a problem, who are some high lvl mobs, in places like seb, velks, SG, ToV or anyother place like that which ill have trouble fighting in. Just saying, so far it doesnt seem to be that big of a down fall, and DN is a big enough threat id say to be rewarding this type of weapon. Hell if the sebilite gaurdians drop 9/19 lammys with lots of stats... these buggers should be dropin 9/16 in comparison then. 54 Champion of Xev Server
Was in dragon necropolis today. It seems these bugs are triggered in a trap. As you enter from the port in if you go straight (avoiding the phase spiders) You will see two buildings, it was all of our first time in their our warrior went up to the building on the right and tried to open the doors. . . . this triggered the trap dropping 3 of them upon us, they dont hit very hard, but it is very difficult to target them as they are about ankle high to a gnome :D Needless to say out of the 3 beetles, 2 pincers dropped. Our warrior looted one and our rogue looted the other, we then proceeded to kill phase spiders :D

This is actually usable on most mobs also when you're higher level. If You don't want to farm Greater Lightstones :P
Yea for me its a back up weapon when i have to use a shield for bashin or resists and the mob is non magical. with maxed haste from a bard its pretty F A S T and the damage is quite constant.
If yer worried about it not bein a twink weapon... haul yer twink on the zone and camp him there while you keel the bugs at the zone with friends and let twink loot if the weapon is goin to rot othervise.
Yeah this whole magical bit is pretty screwy if you ask me. Whats the differance between magical armor and non magical armor. And at that, whats the big deal? How come Ice Bone skellies cant be attacked with a weapon you need at least a full group of lvl 50+ to get, yet a n00b who has a million velium weapons can. Doesnt that tell you something isnt right? Also, if a monk can punch a magical enemy after a certain lvl without magical weapons or gloves, can they also hit the magical enemy if they have a non-magical weapon?
I heard they were going to make this weapon magic? Can anyone confirm this? BTW I would love to have this weapon until I get my epics<one step away, VS(> Anyway this weapon is pretty good on creatures that arent magical If they are you can always switch to a different weapon if you cant hit with this one. One more damage one more delay but... they are a common drop off common mobs. If they were magic or could be dual wielded they would be fantastic.
I used to think a jade mace was out of my league but I have one of these now and they are good on half the mobs I fight. This is nice game design - I need to carry arround spare weapons for diferent situations.
I talked to the zone designer, Kendrick, on Test Server a few days ago. He says that the pincers are not meant to be magic, which reduces the power of them overall, as he intended.
He wanted a fast hard hitting weapon to drop from the beetles, since they are fast and somewhat hard hitting, but he didn't want it to be TOO good since the beetles are not hard to deal with risk wise for most people. So he made them heavy loreand non-magical as a drawback.
He made them no-drop to prevent them from being twink toys, since the non-magic has little effect on newbs, almost everything they kill is non magic.

I know for a fact that i could walk my 23 bard over to DN with just a bit of help from one of my wizzy/druid friends. Bards have a song caled magical monologue too to make non magical weapons magical. really getting this for my bard woulndt be horrible difficult at all.
Ive been wondering about this zone... I am a warrior so its hard for me to explore alone. How would i get to this zone? What kind of faction hits are there? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Thank god, I thought I had lost my mind last night when I won this blade, I was trying to attack phase spiders and all I saw was piercing attacks, I turned on my misses and saw " you try to slash a phase spider, but it's INVULNERABLE"
They aren't fixing it...I have on on my pally and asked a RL guide friend, who said it was meant to be non magic =( I have noticed that a lot of things don't take a magic weapon though, but luckly I have a decent alt weapon if I need to.
