Have one of these on my warrior twink. AWESOME weapon for anyone under level 20 that can get their hands on one. Until 20 the most base damage you get from any weapon is 14, with the Nath you only lose 3 damage to the cap ... 14/30 blows away the BABS (14/39), the Blade of Xalgoz (14/40) and a bunch of other 2 handers that I've seem people without last names running around with.
Actually the poster was referring to the fact that below level 20, due to a cap on the maximum damage a player can do in one swing, weapons with higher base damage have an effective damage of 14 so when you take the damage cap into consideration Nathsar's comes out at 14/30 and the BABS comes out at 14/39 even though one is a 17/30 weapon and the other is a 24/39 weapon.
I think the pricing on this sword as listed here is inflated - I'm reading how lots of people got theirs for a few hundred, and I got mine for 650. For these prices, a kick butt sword.
I have one of these and its very good, but i would rather have a Exquisite Velium Claidhmore. Im willing to trade 400pp and the Nathsar Greatsword for the Exquisite Velium Claidhmore.
Geez, if you can get an Exquisite Velium Claidmore for the Nathsar's and only 400PP, I'll buy it off you for my Nathsar's and at least 10K. BTW, the stats on that Claidmore is Dmg 32, Dly 36. Would anyone actually sell one of these for a Nathsar's and 400PP?
Changing the subject. I have to say the Nathsar's is really an awesome sword. In fact, it's worth more than what it's advertised for. Not only is it one of the faster 2H weapon out there, the +10 Str is a huge advantage. Every tank should know that your ability to do more damage is based upon your strength. With the +10 Str, this sword helps you do much more damage than any other weapons with 17 damage points. Just to give you an idea. When I duel wield, I use a Wurmmy (25/40)in my main hand and a Gleaming Short Sword (10/29)or a Dragon Horn Ykesha (8/23) in my off hand, and I do only marginally more damage compared to the Nathsar's.
Wow...I only paid 250pp for my Nasarath Greatsword in East Commons. I can't find any other sword I'd rather be swinging. Just need to find a good place for my level 22 warrior to crack some heads.
Quite whining about the weight. I am a lvl 18 paladin and i use a deepwater harpoon witch is one heavy sob and i suffer no hits on my stamina. Is it just me?
unless you like having a weapon that most people don't, there just isn't a reason to own this item.
the mithril 2h sells for the same amount and with the haste included is 21/32. its dmg/sec is 13.4375
the nathsar greatsword is 17/30. its dmg/sec ratio is 11.6667.
so thats much better value. but lets say, for fun, that you're a twink and money doesn't matter. you get your twink an fbss, now lets calculate the ratio: its now 14, which IS a better ratio, but costs you about 8k more. is .6 more dmg per second worth 8k to you?
but there are 3 more factors to consider:
1) because of the lower delay, the nathsar will have more opportunities to crit.
2) 2h weapons with a delay 40 and over were given a damage bonus in a somewhat recent patch. this gives a big advantage to the mithril 2h.
3) the person who buys the mithril 2h instead of the nathsar has an empty waist slot which he can put something such as a TBB in, giving him the advantage of str and ac over the person who buys the nathsar.
they are both great weapons, but after considering all the facts, especially since i'm not rich, i sold my nathsar and got a mithril 2h.
i'm not taking sides here, just presenting the facts.
Hey buddy, the stats on the Mithril Two handed Sword is Dmg 21, Dly 40, NOT Dmg 21, Dly 32. There's only one Mithril 2H Sword I know about. It's 21/40, has Haste, cost about 1,300PP and drops off the Froglok King in Lower Guk.
His point is that WITH the Haste on the Mithril Two hander, the effective stats are 21/32. But, it's actual delay is 40, so it gets the improved damage bonus. I can't vouch for the numbers, but that's his point.

Actually haste on the Mithril 2-Hander is determined by level. Ranging from 2% at Level 1up to 50% at Level 49. So, at early levels (i.e. before 20) the Nathsar Greatsword is better because of damage cap, delay, and the +10 Strength.
Thank you for this information. I bought one of these for 300pp not too long ago and have heard various theories as to what the haste is. Some say more than fbss, some say less. My pally is lvl 19 now and the delay on the sword is no where near what I was led to believe it should be. I was reading these posts in order to decide if I should dump it for a lower delay sword, or just get an fbss. Now I think I'll hang onto it and see how well it does as I level.
Very nice sword for my Pally to solo with. Having Invigor basically nullifies the weight penalty and hitting more often, than Edge of Cablils, is helpfull against those pesky casters.
I picked up a hangmans noose the other night(ac 5 perm haste 17%) belt or head slot usable and went back to this weapon over my Wurmy for awhile and man, talk about some serious dmg!!!! I regularly hit in the 60's and I never stop. 43rd lvl warrior and its just gettin better as I lvl. this weapon is the most underestimated 2 hander in the game in my opinion. And I love it in PVP. I had 3 critical blows on an Iksar monk with a bub of health left and took his bar from half to dead!!!! I will take the long road to Valhalla !!!! Matteus Conansson
Took this badboy out for a test drive last night, amazing speed and consistent high 40's hits for me ( 38 Pally ), only problem I have with it is the wgt of 10, even constantly yaulping my stamina bar drops... still worth it for that speed. The Mith 2her may be a little better to start, but getting this sword is like buying a car... you can get the bare-bones model, but with a little money you can upgrade the heck out of it with haste items/spells ( ok, alot of money ). The damage may seem a bit low, but I've found that low ratio and low delay is all that matters, since your average damage will be higher with the lower delay weapons... if your gonna get a bad string of hits for 8, might as well do it fast ( I don't know how the damage/delay ratings effect crits, just speaking as a Paladin ). Besides, it's kinda nice to have something a bit different and fun to hear the holy craps from your new group when you do two double attacks between mob swings followed up by a nice riposte.
Just my thoughts on this fine sword, tons of people have Miths, not many seems to have the Nathsar
I would agree heavy but fast, this sword i can get 45-49 dmg. (well most times). I got this sword at lvl 24 pally. Now im a lvl 28 and this baby has helped me alot. ps bought mine for 450pp...sounds cheap now ive read how much it goes for. )

Posted:May 14 2001 at 9:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I just got this the other day and haven't used it yet. I am not trained in 2hs so would rather get another weapon or weapons. I am on the saryrn (sp?) server if you are interested in trading or even buying it from me. My characters name is Wulane.
To the nitwits above who keep talking about the blade of xalgoz:
Is math an alien concept to you? blade of xalgoz does not do as much dmg as this weapon. If you don't believe me, go check copeland's weapon analyzer. Yes, the dmg on the BoX is 23, but the delay is 10 more than the nathsar. What does this mean? The nathsar greatsword does more dmg per minute that the blade of xalgoz.
Write 1000 times on the chalkboard - "damage means nothing without delay, and 10 delay is a lot".

Posted:Apr 24 2001 at 5:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I want to get rid of this weapon and get me a Blade of Xalgoz. 17 damage is not that impressive. Doesn't do enough damage, even with an FBSS. Great for a newbie, or even up to level 20, but past that and it just does not do enough.

Aye The weight vs strength equals out but that is not a factor when you weigh it against your stamina. Plus strength or no, trying to take out 5 or 6 mobs in succession will leave you whipped. So look for an invigor castor to swing this consistant.
Well..i as a Level 16 warrior was given one by a complete stranger..started with NO 2HS Slashing skill to speak of..and have built it up to 80 in the time it took to go up two levels..
I love posts like these because you get to learn so much about the rich history of Norrath and of the ins and outs of this vastly deep game. Thanks, Kiky, for enlightening us all.
If you think this sword is not good for twinks you are mistaken. Ok, maybe the dmg is not awesome for a 2Her but the speed is great. I for one like to max all my weap skills as I go along in levels, which means I like to have fast weapons which will increase my skill quick so I can change to another skill. The Nathsar is one of the best 2H weapons for this, and THE best for it's price.
i just got mine yesterday. siiigggghhhh. its a beautiful weapon for a 23 SK if i say so myself. with a 123 str, i consistantly hit for 35-45 dam. i love it, im gonna have it for a while, and im gonna kill LOTS of gnolls. muahahahahaha
hehe, me again. blade of xalgoz is BETTER. 116 str now, but thats ok, cuz i still hit for 50+. might i suggest anyone who has a nathsar, to sell it for around 1.2k or so, then go get a blade for 700. your getting the deal because the blade is better (i think so anyway), and u can go buy some other needed equipment. by the way, i got married and my last name is now darkwind =).
the only problem i have with this weapon is that its so heavy...wt10 on a 30 delay weapon hurts. all you people with wurmslayers know what im talking about :) as long as you have a cleric or similar in your group, this weapon is great. i cant wait to get one...the way i look at it is with my 147str and a Deathwatch Sword (16/34 10ac) i can hit for up to 42 at 25th lvl...so with a 17dmg weapon putting my str to 157 i could presumably hit for 46-48? with 4 less delay..hmm...im drooling at the thought of it :)
not true, sure it is effectively weight 0.0 but you are still swinging around a 10 weight weapon, regardless of the str bonus. its the same deal with monks and their weight cap; if they have a 20str 20wt item they are still going over their weight cap, but are carrying an (effectively) wt 0 item. as if that made any sense :P made sense to me...
From personal experience the reason that it is so cheap is that it is Emperor Chottal's common drop. So, when it drops, for most of the higher levels, its considered a crappy drop. Given that...they sell it for cheap. In all though, I think its a really nice 2hs for anyone that can use it. One thing to consider also, is that Emp. Chottal is on the PLA run, so its camped all the time and being a common drop, it drops all the time.
I got paid 500pp to take the sword lol Its not about what you pay for the sword, i mean good twinks wont even come near this sword, its a good sword nothing brilliant or anything, ones you get into to the 30-40 zone you will get a better one even when you are not twinking. Lets drop this i got it for this and that, its a cool sword. I got it when i was level 26 war and loved it, but there come a time for better weapons :)
Definitely one of the best 2hs'ers out there. 17dmg and 30dly.. add an FBSS (or better) and you have a 17dmg and roughly 25dly 2hs'er (or better with faster haste items!)
Agreed: Delay is king. That said, I must set people straight about haste items. Haste works as a % delay reducer. This means that the greater the delay, the more effect the haste item has. I realized that in the quest for speed we try to haste an already fast item and only get a small bonus: 10% of 30 is only 3 delay difference... 10% of 50 is 5 delay improvement. In the long run the ratio is helped best for slower items. So, put your FBSS with a big damage / slow weapon and get a real belt for the fast swords...just my 2 cp
I agree as I own one of these fine blades. Got one off a hard up druid for 500 pps :)) I've used it ever since and am trying my luck at finding a haste item to really make it shine. It's not heavy at all either the +10 strength bonus makes it weigh nothing!!!! Every warrior must make it a point to get one, with the damage bonuses for higher lvl attacks a faster weapon is a better weapon, THIS WEAPON ROCKS!!!!
110% correct. SPEED KILLS. This sword is fast and the ratio of 1.764 by defination is considered AMAZING. If you don't believe me, scroll to the top and look at the discription. Anyone with a high level tank or fought at high levels knows that most tanks opted to go with speed over damage through duel wielding. But if you must use a 2H weapon, there isn't many out there faster than Nathsar's.
