I got this to replace my Goranga Idol.. a few more ac and more stamina. Too bad there's no dex on this item.

Camped this spot for 4 hours with a 39 SK, a 45 SK and a 53 Druid. was kinda easy..

A trio of low 50s, a duo of mid 50s, a solo char of high level (and a soloing class).
56 Druid and 57 Paly worked well, for example.
Necromancers solo it earlier than most other classes.

I'm an Enchanter, I can't use you're sweet little Shiny Trinket whatchamacallit. This item is All/All. AND it's a range slot. We're raiding Droga this week, I wouldn't pass this up with a stick. :)

Yep, that's a very nice item. Not only does it have the stats you've pointed out, but haste as well (after recent patch). Given that, though, I expect it to be priced in the forget-about-it range, and this item will still be of interest to those who have to save up to buy a horse ;-)

Surprisingly enough The Shiny Trinket of Speed is droppable.
Although it's rareity and stats will make it's price insanely high...
If anything is going to kill the Idol of the Thorned, it will be cheaper idols such as the Goranga Idol, Fetish of the Nimble, Fetish of the Agile, etc.
You should see the Idol of the Thorned selling for about 1K in a few months.

Reasons why this wont be on the markey for at least 6 months ( till 2003).
1. Stats - Those are extremely good stats for a ranged item and you would have to be sickenly uber to sell it.
2. It drops from the creator. He is comparable to AoW and not many guilds can kill Avatar without help.

Okay, until velious this was best range item in game, period. for those newbies who post here saying it's not worth it, or that it's just an okay item, you obviously don't understand the most important stat in the game for any melee is AC. AC = most important, and since this item has the most ac (beside some rare velious stuff), it's a VERY good range slot, and very much worth the cost or time to get one.

this is an AWESOEM range item. And not only is AC important but RESISTS!!! RESISTS RESISTS RESISTS!! Resists are the difference between a life and death in some areas.
But all in all, pretty effing sweet item. I'm going to camp one in a few days.

I just got this little bad boy after a guildie got it in 2 hrs.
I was there 8 hrs, guildie held camp 1hr before i showed up. During that time loot from chief was as follows:
6 stickers
2 Essence of Dol
1 Idol
A couple other people i know said they usually got idol after 7 stickers and 3 dols. Had no prob holding this camp with a 53 rake and 51 vicar. Getting there can be a pain if eveyone does not have invis though.

Went on a guild raid (only 6people showed up) in Droga and we went straight to chief he was up, pulled him and dropped essence and eye? and then we stayed for another pop and he dropped the idol. Won the roll so i am a very happy warrior. He isnt to hard to get to. Just make sure you have a map and go very slowly, we never had any adds. And no one came close to dieing. So all in all it was a very easy camp.

An OK Idol? At level 52, this would add 15 AC after my bonus. When I think about how much it would cost me to get an extra 10 raw AC, 7 STR and 10 STA, this doesn't seem like such a rip-off. Especially now that it's down in the 10-12k range (on Saryrn as well).
23k? it's good, but DANG, that's a lot of RBF camp's before I can afford that. I think I'll just stick to my plain old RBF for a while.
Reckon a 39 sham and 45 sham can hold anything here? =P
This guy takes 20mins to spawn its either him or PH. Idol dropped in umm like 20 spawns. Chief does not see true hide. As a magie its real easy, just be around 54 + with epics its just so easy. But without earth is the only choice and will finsih the normal gobo's up. The chief was yellow to a 37 4x. Only other yellow was the maddend burynai dropped gi once i think. Ended up rotting 4 dols 2 circlets and some fs stuff.

I don't think you need to be a mage with epic to camp this guy. In fact I bet a 50 or lower mage could easily solo this guy. The problem is getting there safely.

You are very correct. As a 53 mage using the 51 earth pet can wipe up this whole zone. Just clear the way single pulling the gobbies, if you get an add or 2 no big deal at all. Two applications of scintillation and the adds are gone. Even if 4 or 5 gobbies get on pet is no big deal at all, Jabober is not scared. Do the same to the chief room, single pull them all out to front of room in hall and let Jabober go to work. For a mage I think it is much safer and easier to kill your way to a camp rather than invis there, if invis should drop in a bad spot we have no means of escape save gate and it is a really rare time where you can get a pet off without being interrupted of beat down. From what I have seen in EQ, mages are pretty much the kings (and queens) of greenie dungeon farming, hehe. I pull these little buggers with level one nuke so I am never using mana except for burnout and shield of lava for pet so that I have plenty of mana for scintillations if a drastic situation should arise.

Went back again to try my luck. First chief spawned with the idol, I was very suprised after my last 13 hour expedition.
Here is some more info that might help:
1) It is very possible to single pull all of the mobs when you are 53+. Use a ranged attack to pull, not proximity.
2) The mobs run, so you must have a snarer. If the mobs run, they don't bring friends back with them. So pet users, have that /pet back off hotkeyed so your pet doesn't cause the place to come down on you if your snare runs out at a bad time.
3) If the chief has nothing in either hand, you just lucked out :)

I camped the Chief for 29 hours straight and the idol finally dropped. Well worth the wait!

Was there for 13 hours. None dropped. Person that took over the camp was there for 7 hours. Also none dropped.
A 55 SK can hold the room once broken quite easily. I had to leave when I ran out of bone chips and bandaids. Glad I did, since another 7 hours wouldn't have produced results.
The room has 3 static spawns and 1 wanderer. You can invis and go to the ramp outside of the room. The wanderer can be pulled single but I got a couple adds from the surrounding area (which is why it is hard to break solo). The next 2 came in pairs both times I tried, so I HT'd one to kill it and FD'd to spread spawn time. Single pulled the other one, waited a bit, and rushed the room to take out the last spawn. If you do it right you only have to fight a mob about every 5 min. I then set up a pet in the middle of the room to take the HT's when the SK mobs spawned.
Chief/PH seemed to pop about every 20 mins.

57th necro was camping item and i told him to give me a tell before he left. Friend (51 druid) and I (53 warrior) took over camp. 2 1/2 hours later i had an idol. the necro said he had camped for 6-7 hrs with no drop.

Hehehe, I got to hold it for rolling, that was NICE. Next time we killed him he had the stickler, then, about 4 peeps which were the backbone of the raid went LD and didn't come back on.......long CR. Hehehe, congrats to Symthicus who won the idol

I got one this afternoon with my Shaman and me. Killed the Chief 16 times. The Sols and Stickers dropped bout half and half (so 7 and 8). Chief spawns on platform in south corner where torch is up on the wall. Took us 10 or 11 hours to do 16 chiefs. Hellish camp, but there are worse.
I would have to say that 30k pp is about right for this item... It's a very rare drop, and it's in a dungeon that just plain stinks!
The only people who really go to this place are the level 50+ people who are bored and looking for "phat lootz" (God, do I hate that phrase.)

Droga is a great place to farm.. it's underused the most I've ever seen in the place is around 6 ppl.. and they were actually getting exp (wow!) but every other time I've been there it's been me... or me and partner.. or me and my group.. whatever ;) very underused so who cares if you farm? no one is there to complain
