Vest is common drop from Kromiff Death sqaud I killed four of them with my bard and all of them dropped it one even dropped two. Are these for anything at all seems like kind of a useless vest for so much trouble.

Today me and my druid partner where doing our forth shawl quest and the Deathsquad jumped us.Took both down after chaining three earth pets.Both dropped one of these vest.Don't know if we just got lucky or this is their regular drop.Will post again after killing a few more to be sure though.
Just looted one off the Kromriff Guardsman right outside of Kael.
Dropped for me off a Kromrif Death Squad.

Bought this vest the other day for 100pp in EC from another player. Don't know why it has gotten so low.
Stats are almost identical to Ry'Gorr and has the same graphics.

Ry'gorr is popular for may reasons.
1. It adds str while weighing very little.
2. It is decend Ac with mana for the casters.
3. It is decend ac with good str for ROG and RNG.
Ry'gorr is not a popular choise for Tanks.
This vest only has one of these properties, and only for barbarian rogues, so you maket is very limited, unless you are willing to sell to the lower level bracket of tanks where this is good AC.
I like mine though :)

Easy answer: Compare Race/class listings for both pieces of armor. Less of a market for this because less people can use it, so harder to sell, so lower price.
Still, 100pp is a great deal.

While the 20hp is better than 20mana for most that can use this, 5svp is better than 5svc. The big problem with these THEY WEIGH 11 POUNDS MORE THAN RYGORR. I have sold 4 of these (very easy to get) started at 1k and dropped 50pp every few auctions, have never sold for more than 450pp. Rygorr goes for 1k now these are not as good and only a few races/classes can wear them. Plus the icon looks like leather so many people don't believe they do look like rygorr (they do but with a silly looking belt). This vest is ok but is basically ghetto rygorr.
Kromriff equivalent to Ry'Gorr Battle Mail.

Hehe I bought one of a vendor for 300p, which is fine with me since I dont want to mess up giant faction on my Rallos Troll War :) ..and it does look cool:)
I also have killed the captain many times, and he he never had it.
I was camping the 2 guardsmen near kael in EW (they are in those alcoves off to side on way to kael at bottom of ramp) and got one after about 3 kills.
Most other people I know who have got it said they did from them also.

It took me forever to sell this even at 400pp, the RG Battle mail sells for about 1K now. Not Much difference between them? except for 11 lbs!

I got one today, have killed the captain a couple dozen times at least and this is the first on I have seen. Tried to sell if for 700 but maybe was bad time of day. Seems like should be worth about the same as RyGorr, so 1k or so.

Does this really go for 2k? I'm thinking Ry'Gor is better and ry'gor tunics are going for 1k on Xev. Can anyone tell me a real price to pay for this?

The ones parked at the gate of Kael, not IN zone, but in EW. It looks very NICE on a Barbarian female Shammy. Like a gold gridwork with red stones.

I killed the frost giant captain 5 times and didn't have the vest. So it's not common.

Has a unique look to it kinda totemic in color on a shamen sides are chain like with a plate stripe down the center and a belt (quite spiffy) on trolls it looks like a gothic chainmail with a medallion and belt and shoulder pads.. (cool hehe) this also dopped from a Frost giant captain in EW at the Giant fort ..
